Revealed at JoeCon2009, the Jungle Assault Storm Shadow has yet to be released. With plenty samples available since the end of last year, this figure was seemingly ready to go for sale at retail(albeit the packaging never showed up, just the artwork at JoeCon last year). Could Storm Shadow(Jungle Assault) be pushed back until spring 2011, like the Shadow Tracker and some other figures from the GI Joe Pursuit of Cobra line?
Jungle Assault Storm Shadow features a body made from parts of Resolute Storm Shadow and Arctic Assault Storm Shadow from the Rise of Cobra line. What we end up with is a Storm Shadow that definitely looks the part of a jungle commando, armed to the teeth to wreck havoc. Whether this figure will reach retail stores or not will be revealed soon at JoeCon, but until then, hit the discuss button to read the review!

JUNGLE ASSAULT STORM SHADOW: ****1/2 (4.5 out of 5)
Easily one of the best of the "release yet to be determined" figures from the upcoming POC line is the "Jungle Assault Storm Shadow." Originally shown at last year's Joe Con, Stormy was slated to be in the early waves of POC, but was mysteriously pulled by the 2010 announced POC single figure lineups, his fate is still unknown at the time of this writing, but finalized versions of this figure have shown up over the past few months by other means.
He is made up of a construction of both the Resolute Storm Shadow (head/legs/feet) & the ROC Arctic Assault Storm Shadow (arms/torso) & equipped with new webgear & a versatile arsenal of weapons!! If this figure had been released as planned, he might have beat Resolute Storm Shadow as the "first" out with some of these parts. Also of interest is that the Arctic Assault SS's body wounds are lightly painted here, almost as if they are scars healing over time from ROC to POC...
The color scheme is classic Storm Shadow, the white, gray & his third red signature color are mixed throughout, & he even has an interesting fiery camo on his pants. He also has some nice gray brushed detailing on his feet. The webgear is only removable if you remove the legs, but has some fantastic sculpted in weapons & strapped/buckled detail. His 2 new Mac-10's clip very nicely at the sides of the webgear & stay securely while you do his flight acrobatics. The Resolute Hood fits on the head well & will stay in place, it might look slightly better & make more sense though on a more clothed body, as here it has more of the appearance of hooded rags.
Weapons include a brand new backpack sheath, Resolute hood in gray, 2 katana swords, new tekagi, 2 new sub machine guns, 2 new long pronged weapons(?), & a spring loaded soft-goods wing suit. The wings are spring-retractable by a button on the back of the suit, & his hands attach to the foldable handles as well as there are clips for his legs, so he is locked in. I'm wondering if this wing suit was originally intended for Resolute Snake Eyes, as something similar appeared in the animation, either way it's a fantastic addition & has a Cobra insignia blazed on the back.
JA Storm Shadow is hands down one of the best Storm Shadow's done to date, he has a great construction, a bevy of really cool weapons, a neat paint scheme & some really wonderful design work. He's an amazing figure even in the vast world of Storm Shadow releases so far, as Hasbro's designers really stepped up their game to make a character with a lot of refreshes hot again, with an all new arsenal that would be tough to beat by any rival's standards.
Highly Recommended.

I love this figure. It kicks so much ass.
I don't use the hood on it, think it looks so much better without.

I know some people will be "ninjas don't use guns" but these just work so well. Clipping to the harness is great, allows him hands free and they're small enough that he can manuveur with 'em hanging there.
I love the addition of the 2 guns on the belt (Arctic SE has the same).

I've never been a big Storm Shadow fan (the V2 Joe one being the only one I've really liked) but this one is awesome. I hope the Desert one is as good.
