HISS Tank boards member Buzzetta has posted a review and images of the Arctic Threat Snake Eyes from GI Joe Pursuit Of Cobra, which was initially supposed to be released earlier this year. This figure has been canceled and nearly every mold from this set(like the all new Timber) is used on the upcoming Desert Battle Snake Eyes.
Nonetheless, canceled items, “what could have been”, preproductions and the like, typically brew interesting conversations. Hit the discuss button to see how the Arctic Threat versions of Snake Eyes & Timber turned out!
Buzzetta says
This week I received my (now canceled) Arctic Threat: Snake Eyes from the Pursuit of Cobra line . Many are aware that this figure is to be repainted with a darker motif, without the blue accents and introduced to us as Desert Strike Snake Eyes.
Here is what I can show you about the figure:
The Figure:
The figure utilizes a chest from Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes with new arms and what I assume to be new legs. (Correct me if I am wrong.) The vest sports the Rise of Cobra logo and is new while the webbing on the legs appears to come from Airborne. The blue paint fits nicely with the arctic theme and seems to fit the tone of the figure. It has a metallic sheen to it which may or may not have translated well in the photos. The head is different from the last arctic themed Snake Eyes and I have included a photo to demonstrate this. The head on the left comes from the Pursuit of Cobra version while the one of the right from Rise of Cobra.
The Gear:
The gear is substantial and except for the ice corkscrew definitely compliments Snake Eyes. We have seen this sword, sheath and rifle before with the Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes and the uzi will be included with the repainted Desert Strike Snake Eyes as well as Storm Shadow. The ice pick is a repaint from the last Arctic Snake Eyes. Timber is a new mold and exhibits a quality paint job as well as an old industry standard mechanism. If you push the tail then the head arcs up.
Articulation:
Arm articulation is pretty fluid around the shoulder joints, elbows and wrists. Snake Eyes holds his weapons well. The legs are another story though. The movement at the hips is slightly hampered by the vest. That is okay as Snake Eyes is not really meant to sit still in a seat.
Extras:
One of these sold for over $100 on eBay. I paid about $30 a week after that one sold which included shipping. These figures are still out there and can find their way in your collection if you are looking. While the figure has not really been canceled, but has been repainted, it will eventually reach retail available for all to own. However if you are looking for the Arctic themed version, eBay or the other sites may be your only resort.
Any other questions or comments, please let me know.

Nice review and pics,
Not overly impressed with this guy...especially the head...body could be cool for some cobra arctic blue shirt customs though.

okay...GREAT... We're still getting him...basically...just a BETTER color Scheme! No offense Buzz, it is a great score, and a relativly cool color scheme... But all I care about is the web gear/vest and the darn dog. ;)
was gonna switch the head with Joe's pack #2's head anyway

Cool review!
i really like this fig, the blue sheen in kinda cool.
Btw, if i'm correct those are Paris SE legs too.
The webgear of legs looks like Airborne's but they're either modified or are a new set (Airborne's don't have anything on the sides, and the frontal stripes are closer)
I think the head is PP SE too, but the arctic visor is looking upwards :P
Nice score though, it looks great and is kinda unique.
