HISS Tank boards member Gyre-Viper has posted several images of his latest Cycle Armor With Ashiko preproduction sample from the 2011 alpha vehicle assortment of GI Joe Pursuit Of Cobra. In addition, HISS Tank boards member notpicard has also shared images of his painted Ashiko figure, which Gyre-Viper posted for comparisons. This Cycle Armor sample might not be complete, and as such, it may end up being more stable by final production. Hit the title bar to see to check out the latest update(including the transformation sequence)!
Transforming items are no stranger to Hasbro. In fact, they are no stranger to GI Joe either. 2004 saw the release of a Transformers figure using GI Joe parts named Kicker from Transformers Energon, packed with a bike Transformer named Highwire. Decades prior, the Microchange segment of the Microman line(which predated Transformers), introduced everyday items which were compatible with 3-3/4″ figures, and of course, we all knew the legacy that this venerable scale ended up starting. If it weren’t for this line, we wouldn’t have the long-lasting/groundbreaking Star Wars line by Kenner, and if not for Star Wars’ 3-3/4″ line success in the US, we wouldn’t have had the beloved(and even longer-lasting) GI Joe A Real American Hero line.
Maybe the Cycle Armor pays homage to Transformers and/or Microman, or the Rider Armors from Genesis Climber Mospeada, or maybe even both. Being that the Pursuit Of Cobra line takes design influence from certain video games, taking influence from anime isn’t a stretch. If anything, the debut of the Cycle Armor set last year at JoeCon 2009 was a unique surprise that no one was expecting.
Could it be a move by Hasbro to test the waters for transformable 3-3/4″ vehicles, possibly for the Micronauts movie? More importantly, do all of you want transforming vehicles, compatible with GI Joe and other in-scale lines by Hasbro?

A very special thank you to member notpicard for sending me pics of his factory painted Ashiko figure to include in this thread.
The first pics are of a painted test-shot that notpicard was able to get a hold of. Unfortunately, it came as-is; incomplete.
Also in the pics is an Ashiko with an unpainted Snake-Eyes head.
and Ashiko with Flash head (the eyes are different etc)... accompanied by a comparison pic with an actual Flash head.
(I'll get to all of that in a second).
Pictured later is my unpainted Ashiko preproduction sample with the Cycle-Armor which most of you have seen before. I received my Ashiko around the time my mother died so I wasn't really in a huge picture taking mood. I've always wanted to go back and take more pics of it for all of you and so I've finally gotten around to doing so... and when I found out notpicard had found a painted one... I knew I had to include that as well. So again, a big thanks to notpicard for sending me the first set of pics!!!!! I also swapped the wraith head with an unpainted Flash head for a couple of my pics because...
Either originally, or just for sample mock-up, Ashiko was going to have a Wraith head. Then a few showed up later with Snake-Eyes heads. But it turns out the final product will most likely have the Flash head (as pictured in notpicard's photos) and a helmet (the one at con apparently had the Flash head under said helmet... this has been confirmed).
These first photos are from the collection of
