| GI Joe Movie Rise Of Cobra Rock Slide Movie Toy | | Posted on 10-19-2008 at 03:54 PM by DESTRO | | Thanks to TaoBao.com we now have our first look at what appears to be the G.I. Joe Movie Rise Of Cobra Polar Assault Vehicle Rock Slide. There is no word that G.I. Joe Team Member Snow Job will appear in the film, however it would seem he will be packaged as the vehicle driver for this tool. This Vehicle was first show at this years SDCC 2008 by Paramount and Hasbro in a short G.I. Joe Movie Preview.
No Official name has been given to this Vehicle at this time. Stay tuned for more information.

Tracker: Interesting but it looks very much like a prototype Irid70: Well, I imagine it isn't complete or fully painted. Doesn't knock me off my chair or anything, but I can envision grabbing one, certainly. Ev!L ErN!E: Quote:

DESTRO: I think its cool. I will be picking a few of these up for a polar army build. Expect more then just a few "Arctic" theme figures and vehicles to come out for the Movie Line. statesofeuphoria: Yay! shooting weapons!!!
pass...
very little detail and paint apps, it looks like a Tonka vehicle. way to skimp Hasbro. KALASH69: Quote:
Originally Posted by ironknife I think it looks kinda stupid. Thats just me though. | I agree. The figure and such dont look too good either. fireflyguy: IDK. It looks ok. Not crazy about the shooting weapons, but I have some toys that have them and I just display them anyway so it doesn't really matter.
I think it's interesting to see that they will be using the same figure parts as they are using now (were there any doubts?). I mean, all I see there is wild weasel. kennywr22: I think the vehicle looks pretty cool, but don't tell me that we are getting more repaints with the movie line?? I thought they would be all new? This kinda scares me more. Monkeywrench: I was looking at the tags... why is Baroness a tag for this thread? doubleblast518: It looks alright too me, Im sure ta pick one up. I bet this is just a teaser and they prob put Snow Job with it just to see the our reaction. Shin-Gouki: Thumbs down. I hope the rest of the Vehicles are better than this or I will not buy anything from this line. sharke: looks cool. not the greatest but certainly not the worst. I'll probably get one. like the camo scheme, will be interested to see what final version looks like. darthfoley: Well, here I was thinking that all the recent repaint waves were a result of Hasbro working on new stuff for the movie. Looks like even the movie toys will just be repaints.
Pass. Big time. kingsurlycrab: feh. a crotch rocket snowmobile? Blade: wow...that looks like crap. Looks like a rotten egg with treads. spacemonkeymafia: So this is why we get Repaints.......for more Repaints???? MTN: This looks pretty cool. I think I'm possibly one of the only people who will look forward to getting this. Shin-Gouki: Quote:

GO BLACK LEATHER SUITS!!!! Imperial_Ozma: I really like it the treads and skis need some paint, and I hope the green on Snowjob isn't permanent but I think it's a pretty awesome figure and vehicle... who cares if it's mostly a repaint it works well. I for one will be getting a few of these.
ps.. shooting guns are good for those of us who want kids to like the line and occasionally play with the toys ourselves. ironknife: Quote:

I mean is it that different from some of the stuff that came out back in the day? miscreant: The name being a reference to an Avalanche may turn out to be apt: I have a horrible vision of retailers being knee-deep in these, unable to shift them.
I'd like to think that the first movie figure we've seen uses an existing figure because those parts were already available, and Hasbro is still working on new tooling, rather than it being because the movie line will depend heavily on pre-existing tooling.
As for the vehicle: To me, it seems over stylized.... yet at the same time it somehow looks very generic. Half snowmobile, half AGP.
I hope this isn't indicative of the standard we can expect from the movie line.
If it is, it stands to damage the G.I.Joe brand as a whole. Retailers won't distinguish between the 25th and movie lines, they'll just see a shelf full of unsold G.I.Joe toys and will back off on support for G.I.Joe as a whole.
I was trying to be neutral on the movie, and how it will affect the toyline in general....... Now....... i'm staring to see things in a more negative light. :-( Quote:

HissCommander: how much do you want to bet we see one of the hulk buster exploding humvees with a cobra logo on it and a 5 pack baroness with it vadersquest: I like it, I will get at least 2. tt8l: Looks accurate to the picture from the movie... which is to say it looks ridiculous. I'm not knocking the movie, which I know nothing about - just saying this looks like... well, crap. It would be a great CORPS! vehicle, though.
edit: there could be some potential as custom fodder, I can kind of envision a couple of things. Dream: Quote:

Need to see more of the Movie '09 line as a whole as I'm positive there will be some good in there.
Thanks for the preview! Tazocin: This is madness. Nemesis*Prime: Looks interesting. It's a Joe vehicle so I'll be passing on it regardless, but still I like the concept. I'm really looking forward to what the COBRA vehicles will look like. I like a lot of the classic stuff, but I'm always curious to see what new vehicles Hasbro will put out from time to time.
Let's face it, during the JvC/Spytroops/VvV years most of Hasbro's new vehicle designs (especially a LOT of the COBRA ones) sucked big time. It wasn't until they started the 2.5" Sigma 6 line that their new vehicles started looking really good. And since the movie is a little more 'real world' based I don't have to worry about COBRA tanks and jets that look more suited to the He-Man universe.
Two vehicles I am hoping to see for COBRA that have already been mentioned are a 4WD hummer and a new jet. ZAR-FLY: I like it. I will end up getting one. Imperial_Ozma: Quote:

Ha. I predict it *will* be rotting on shelves next fall. | Right because this will ruin the GI Joe brand forever (crossref transormers wiki Ruined FOREVER - Transformers Wiki - Teletraan I ). People said the same thing about any toyline or beloved cartoon series any time it gets a re-imagining. To you this may look like un-realisitc pseudo-military scifi crap.. but to a kid it might seem cool. And the smaller hobby chains will see the difference between the lines, and the big giants like walmart and target will just buy it up regaurdless. CdtWeasel: I would like it if they had given it 4 removable missles instead of 2 fixed missles and 2 projectile launchers. Not even accurate to the film screengrab due to that. steve2477: I might buy, i'm not too sure, repainted snowjob dont look too bad. HissCommander: Quote:

Fans realize something Hasbro does not, that robust 25-year-old billion-dollar franchises, while seemingly healthy, are in actuality as fragile as two bricks tied together with tissue paper. One mistake, one bad mis-step will cause the entire thing to shatter and fall apart; and Transformers would be ruined forever.
Fortunately, there is hope. The Transformers fanbase has resolved to remain ever vigilant against something that could Ruin Transformers Forever, and call out a warning if they see something that could potentially do so.
Some Transformers conservationists suggest a more extreme approach, that Transformers should abandon all attempts at re-invention and instead cater exclusively to the old-school collectors. Though attractive, this approach may prove impractical as a long-term solution.
Ruined Forever remains a serious threat to Transformers now and in the foreseeable future, though it's possible a proposed initiative requiring all Transformers fans to purchase an annual "plastic offset" could ensure our fragile brand's existence through the mid-21st century.
| but seriously if you replace all instances of the word Transformers with GI Joe... this mentality does very much apply to both fandoms. Pit Viper: Doesn't look too bad. I think it looks better than the pic from the movie itself. Doubt I'll buy it though. spacemonkeymafia: Quote:
