G.I. Joe Movie Rise Of Cobra M.A.R.S. Trooper Packaging - GI Joe News
theohiostateguy:
Interesting.

That's a whole lot of package for three figures.
DustyOldPlastic:
Not sure what to think about the troopers. I like the packaging though.
Lifeline_MD:
I'm now kinda worried. The packageing really doesn't grab your attention, and may result in poorer sales even if the figures are good.

They did that so you can use it for display. The M.A.R.S. Blast Doors
brock Samson:
Looks fine to me, better than the SRO pack packaging.
Agent-GHQ:
Can't make out who's the character in the middle, at least his role?

This looks fuckin badass though!!
Lifeline_MD:
Also, is it just me, or do their weapons seem ridiculously large?
Foolproof:
Man, I was hoping those were preproduction guns in the early pics. Guess not. And that packaging just screams "THIS IS FROM THE MOVIE!" Still, I like the figures. Guns I got.

I agree. there just isn't anything dynamic or attention getting about it. and the figure colors blend in with the packaging instead of standing out against it.

it reminds me of the red cased Sigma 6 packaging.

That's what I was thinking. It say 4+ and the carded figs say 5+ for age group. Kinda interesting.
Melissa:
Hmmmmm. I feel funny..... Like....hmmm.....Money being left in my......pocketbook? lol
MLos1:
Drab. But, then again it's sorta the anti-bright color JOE of the 80's colors we know.

The whole movie is centered around those mute tones, the steels and the grays.

Nothing is too hokey-and-bright like the X-Men flicks did with their design.

In the end, this movie will be stuck in my DVD collection, and watched just as much as I do the X-Men flicks. Which is near never.

Check Your PM's
Melissa:
I still think that Cobra Commander in the middle, but I could be wrong. Keeping a open mind!

i need to see this up front order to tell if its worth the money there going to be asking, the way i see it, most of the joes there coming out with look like crap, the way that there manufactur
Zartanman:
Looks pretty cool actually. I just don't get the whole MARS thing though? Are they Cobra or not?
TheLongestDay:
i.want.
GIDel:
Doubt I will by this line. It doesn't fit what I consider the Real GI Joe 3 3/4 Line. Booo....but on another note...kinda cool other than the color ways of the box.

which is going to make some pretty boring looking toys if these are any indicator. here's hoping Hasbro has something big up their sleeves to make the packaging for single carded figures more exciting.

That's just your opinion.

I think these rock. M.A.R.S. Troopers with a Box that doubles as Base Blast Doors. The box usually goes in the Trash.
Dawg99:
cool can't wait for these any idea when there coming out
Money-B:
Will these be the same price as the SRO packs?
I'm going to need several of these.
At least 2 to open and 1 to keep MIB.

I agree, those parts are cool. but unfortunately, that box that goes in the trash is a pretty important part of a product's ability to sell itself.

perhaps my expectations for the packaging were too high.
Thal J.:
I like it. Can't wait.
Apeiron:
I like them and how the helmets look like those worn by the IGs. I might use them as IGs in training. I hope we'll get to see other 3 packs with displays like that.

Any idea if these will be exclusive or mass release?
Zoltron:
I want those.

I could be wrong Destro, but I believe that the Base's Blast Doors are a plastic settup that is in the box as a sort of included playset, not the box proper.
sonofdestro:
I like them better without the helmets on. The helmets kind of make them look like Darth Vader playing paint ball.
Unclassified:
ok for all the crap i talk bout this damn movie, i do believe i will be buyin' a few of these things here.. they are the same body style of the 25th right? if so i will get a nice amount of these, if not then i will pass..
MSG Duke:
I am less and less impressed the more I see of the movie toys. These guys just look something out of a bland sci-fi movie, like something I would expect to see on an episode of MST3K. The blast door packaging is pretty cool, though.

ScoutSniper333:
I like the fact that you can see the eyes through the helmets. I think they look great. Nice builders.
Copper21:
Still not holding out much hope....
coola784:
these are some sweet figs even though they dont fit in with the original line, they look cool. they would be good for customs and troop building. i think i might get a set of these.
Big Boss 83:
Like I said before, I'll probably just buy the movie figures for parts for customs.
artiepants:
i like the "useable" part of the package, but really unimpressed with the "marketing" part ~ dull colors, uninspired design and type choices ~ these just don't look as "exciting" as most of Hasbro's packaging (Clone Wars, SW30th anniversary, TF movie and Universe)
rikkuluverx2:
the figures dont look that bad...i just hope the movie is not like the live action street fighter movie.

General Hawk:
The red here seems very reminiscent of the color scheme of the Transformers movie stuff, and that sure as heck seemed to sell well enough. Yeah, there isn't much "zip" here, but I'd be surprised if the single packs, vehicles, etc... don't get a bit more flair.

I do find myself a bit concerned about overall color schemes being a bit too gray and muted in colors (especially based on pictures of the Joes and COBRA's we've seen so far) but knowing Hasbro they'll find a way to spice up the color schemes.

Steel Brigade:
Thanks for the pic!!
Shin-Gouki:
Dear Hasbro,

Fixed the logo for you.

Love Shin.

PS: I borrowed it from Destro (Shhhhhh!!!!)

LOL... I know the feeling...

We just need to maybe get better guns, helmets and colours and we could have a winner! Brown IGs? I don't think so!
NeoDragonKnight:
I have told myself I wouldnt collect the movie stuff even if they are good, must save money and space. Having said that they look good, maybe when the line winds down and go on clearance Ill pick up some.

Dear Shin,

Thank you for fixing the logo, it desperately needed it. Unfortunately, I think the marketing team working on this is too stupid to use it. Perhaps if they were all fired, and replaced with chimpanzees. Oh well, thanks in any case.

MSG Duke

P.S. - I'm telling Destro
Shin-Gouki:
Dear MGS Duke,

I hate to correct you but the primary culprit here are Hollywood Pin-Heads. The Marketing team while culpable is just going along.

Shin

P.S. Please don't tell, I'll give you a cookie my Mom baked for me for my Birthday.
thunderdan19:
Okay a few observations. I'm pretty sure the size of the weapons are what's giving these the okay down age-wise (mentioned above in the thread) from the Modern Era figs. That makes sense since these will be marketed to kids (not so much to collectors). This would also explain some of the reduced detail. Kids just want the toys that represent what's in the movie. It's us collectors that demand the utmost detail. That also explains the reduced detailing and large logo of the Rockslide vehicle we've seen.

I'm not sure about the "playset" doors, unless these are modular and somehow "snap in" with other parts from other sets. The figs look the same as we've seen. Not great, but not bad for mass marketed movie figs. The packaging, similarly not bad, but not great. I don't think the packaging has to be neon or anything to draw attention. In theory, the kids will already be looking for it after they've seen the movie. The one good thing about that is that Modern Era logoed merchandise will certainly stand out and perhaps grab attention, thereby drawing some of the kids to the ME line as well.

Perhaps Shin's logo can be integrated as the perfect transition from movie to Modern Era packaging...
Wry1:
Sweet... even when they run out of ammo they can still beat on fools with those ginormous rifle cannons. Decent figs though.
rockstarfrank:
I actually think kids that are into action figures dig detail, unless you are talking 5 years old and younger.

I swear these are from Mortal Kombat or something. The images leaking from this movie are really starting to bum me out man. I'm not sure what the mentality is behind changing things that work, the Iron Grenaders were pretty sweet as they were.

Hopefully this movie will not indeed blow as expected.
RamaSha007:
A big box full of....meh.
COL Abernathy:
Well, i really like the Mars door. I really don't want to be the negative tanker here, because I'm actually excited about the movie. But these figs look kinda crappy up against the other 25th stuff. The Resolute figures looked much better than this too.
