Trooper618: Sounds like a feeble attempt to bridge the movie and the core background story. We will see come the superbowl. gunslingercbr: hmmm, that's a pretty lame description. what'd they do, sit around at a creative meeting and brainstorm how they could take the description of G.I. Joe from the opening of the cartoon, and remove any sense of excitement or narrative flow from it? DESTRO: Quote:

He's got a serrated edge that he moves back and forth. It's such a simple machine, he doesn't have to use force. Troynos: Ah, so that's the "new" part, it's the first official description?
Nothing new in that, known all along that it's a global and covert team.
I do like how they made the homage to the old cartoon with the "wherever there's trouble, G.I. Joe is there". Too bad in this usage and with that text it just sounds corny. xFlintx: Quote:

The bashing has gotten to the point where it's kind of sad and pathetic. Shin Densetsu: Man I hope we get th Arashikage symbol painted on Snake Eyes' sword, and hope he gets the falchion in the movie. That sword looks beast. rob0213: Neat homage to the cartoon.
Thanks for the info. QBERT: so far, so lame.
They seem to have forgotten the word "American" in that short paragraph. I know, I know... it's "chic" and "avant-garde" to be anti-American these days, but no studio, nor director, nor idiotic HASBRO official will ever change my version of that story.
G.I. JOE, A Real American Hero forever!!! gunslingercbr: Quote:

G.I. JOE, A Real American Hero forever!!! | it has nothing to do with being chic or avant-garde. in case you missed it, there is a pretty prominent description -- from around the globe. broadening the scope from a U.S. force to an international force isn't anti-american (you have to ignore the fact that the main characters, Duke and Rip Cord, are both American and the team is led by an American, Hawk, to even come to that conclusion).
of all the criticisms, that is the most tired, not to mention dishonest. spacemonkeymafia: Quote:

Cobra-Viper: Sounds cool, it sounds like the wanted to pay homage to the cartoon, without completely taking the exact title sequence, word for word.
Well as for the bashing, I always said its gonna be a fun, switch off brain-action movie. Might not be the GI Joe we know, but its still GI Joe, so I'll go see it day of release and probably love it. Gungho-joe: Quote:

My boy now watches the original TF cartoon on DVD. As soon as I sawhow much he enjoyed the TF movie it hit me...This is his generations G.I Joe, and as long as he and all the future fans keep it alive we will see the 50 anniversery line of figures. Bring on the movie for a new Joe generation. IceWolf: Quote:

| Agreed. otsu vihara: how is this news? it still doesn't change that thus far everything about this film smells like dead meat. Life4Dreadnok: Is it true Snake Eyes is French in the movie? Derek2783: I'm going to go on record and go ahead and say...
Snake-Eyes looks great. You all know my opinion of this movie, but if there's one positive thing to say, they got Snake-Eyes right!
I really don't care how much of a stinker this movie is, I just hope Hasbro doesn't screw up the Snake-Eyes movie figure!!! V-Cmdr: Quote:

No, but the international thing is "anti-what the concept of gijoe started from" and that was America...hence " a real AMERICAN HERO"...I AM NOT saying that other countries don't have their share of heros, but my God give credit where credit is due, Gijoe is America. As far as the movie I am in agreement. I will make final judgment on the way out of the theater, until then I am stoked! TheLongestDay: Quote:

Thats what I was hoping. I like him as an actor but just cant see him playing a british guy Shin Densetsu: I've never heard of Hawk playing a british joe in the movie. Quote: |

| I doubt they will. It's easier for them since his whole face is covered up by a mask. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw multiple versions of that guy on shelves. He will probably be the most popular character to the casual audiences and kids after the movie premieres. | All times are GMT -4. The time now is 08:13 AM. | |
