G.I. Joe Movie GM Hummer HX Featured In Film

NESTCar1
Not so long ago Hiss Tank.com reported that the Hummer HX will be used in the upcoming Live Action G.I.Joe Movie. Yesterday, on the set of the Transformers Movie 2 filming in Bethlehem PA, we got our first look at the HX Hummer compact two-door, four-passenger, open-air, extreme off-road capable vehicle with military weapons attached.

Sources tell us the HX Hummer will be one of the many GM Vehicles to be used in the film and will be known as the Cougar (Patrol Vehicle) or the Grizzly (Armored Truck). While this may not be the version we see in the G.I. Joe Movie how different could it really be?

Toyota coppied hummer but went compact and made a FJ cruiser which was a retro of the FJ 40 which was a copy of the jeep which was a copy of something else.

now GM is gonna copy the FJ and go compact to

which came first chicken or the egg haahah

i love my FJ
ltfalcon:
The one that everyone copied the original.

Sergeant Major:
I strongly believe that more pictures of upcoming GM vehicles will be surfacing soon.

I remember hearing somewhere that concept drawings were available somewhere...I'll have to ask around.
CG76:
I read on the Wall Street Journal that GM is considering selling the Hummer brand. Apparently, with gas prices through the roof, sales of trucks are way down. So more losses and less profits.
Syn3sthesia:
Can't wait to see more pics.

I'd love to dump my gas guzzling SUV right now. Won't make that mistake again.

That Hummer does look pretty sweet though for a Joe vehicle. Hope to see more pics soon. Would love to see any concept drawings too.
Amberbratt:
I love my FJ it gets about 290 to the tank of 19 gallons.....

it sucks gas but not V8 status Maybe around 16/18 per gallon

not bad but at 4.60 a gallon... its not great either

Good to see a Land Cruiser enthusiast around here! My baby is an '89 FJ-62 w/ 4 inch lift, bull bar, sidebars, snorkel, lockers, etc. Doesn't get a lot of road time in these days b/c of gas prices . . .

Crimson Rage:
BAck on topic...
Fuzzy picture, but I can just make out a nice sleek vehicle that could icorporate plenty of cool features as a toy. Hope something similar does turn up in the Joe film.

I agree, it would be a very nice addition to the Joe line. Well suited for a modern day VAMP.
Dropshot:
This will probably bee a transformer, I wonder what they plan to do with the Joe version.
DESTRO:
I just received a new Image of the HX.

Also if you look at the 1st pics there are 2 kinds of HX Hummers. These may be the very same XH Hummers that were used for G.I. Joe. One of the set reports from G.I. Joe stated there were 2 versions. The US filming has finished so they might have sent them to Bethleham PA for Transformers filming. Will there be Transformers G.I. Joe crossover for both films? Only time will tell...........

I'm expecting even better pics soon.
Darkness2393:
A G.I. Joe/ Transformer cross-over would be... well, pretty amazing, as long as they don't screw it up.

As for the pictures, they look good, and match the movie's style.
MLos1:
I was at the first day of the Transformers 2 shoot, I live right outside Bethelhem, Pa, and I didn't see this little gem. But it looks cool. What I did see though were multiple trial runs of Apache Helicopters, and duel which looked like PaveHawk choppers with cameras mounted on the sides flying from about 4 in the afternoon throughout the night.

Bethlehem Steel was lit from the inside, which was cool to see, and had that very typical Michael Bay gloss to the set up. Reminded me of the launch pads in Armageddon as far as lighting design is concerned, or the beginning of TF 1.

The choppers rolled overhead, and inside through a tunnel where the old steel trains used to come in and unload.

Would have been cool to see what the choppers looked like in the building. But I was parked on a hill standing on top of my Jeep Cherokee just to get a clear look past the crowd and security gates.
topnotch97:
i think that pic was from another shoot.

i think that's for the next season of 24. jack bauer got kidnapped again by the chinese, and this time they're gonna bust em out.

Tunnel Rat:
This thing is bad ass, do you think they have a hybrid version????

No sir, not yet. There's speculation right now that GM may drop the Hummer brand due to the rising cost of oil. As such, any modifications to the unit would come after-market.

These may not be the happiest of times at HUMMER, but it looks like the brand's bitchin' HX concept is going to get some silver screen love. No, not in G.I. Joe, but in Transformers 2. "Destro," a Joe fan over at HISStank.com, posted some TF2 set pics that clearly show the HX on hand in the role of a military vehicle.
