Let me the first to say....
that sucks!
Total crap.
Freedom:
Totally digging this!
esg2145:
How hard would it to have done a simple hood, much less the classic battle mask?

Give me a break............................. :(
The Commander:
attack of the squid man!!!

I dunno, it's not terrible, but I've dismissed this movie as having any resemblance of what I saw in the 80s or in the comics. Still, could be hope.
Zartanman:
Anybody else get reminded of KRANG the Walking Brain dude from TMNT cartoon?... That's not CC IMO
The Commander:
HAHA just noticed the figure that doesn't resemble CC at all comes with his classic pistol.
thunderdan19:
Freakiest GI Joe/Cobra action figure ever... He should be scaring kids all over the world by about July... I think I'll be passing on this one.
Hicks_Royel:
Well, I'm still gonna salvage it as a lazy Cesspool. But I'm not gonna buy it through eBay since it'll be out soon enough as anyway. I do like the Snake he comes with though.

Edit: wonder if the helmet comes off.
darthdoug:
For the record, this figure sucks! I will only buy like 4 of it. I will open one and put a hooded CC head on it. Maybe paint it grey to match the outfit. Maybe the movie will shed light on why the breathing apparatus. However, hopefully it is only temporary so we can see him in his hood and business suit before long.

I'm not that excited about the Jason Vorhees mask with Resolute Destro tubing.
Melissa:
Once again
remake of an old classic. It's to the Tina Turner song:
We dont need another hero.

WE DON`T NEED ANOTHER VADER
WE DON`T NEED ANOTHER DEFORMED ANTI-HERO
ALL WE WANT IS A MOVIE CC WITH HIS
CHROMEDOME

I'll get 2 lol for customs

I agree. No wonder they've been trying to keep the CC pics a secret. Ridiculous to say the least.

very hard, probably impossible, so they had to go with something different.
Zartanman:
"My Dear Cobra Commander... This is Utter Ridiculous."... "I agree DeSssstro.. This is pure POPPYCOCK!"

I'm Hoping beyond hope that there will be another version of him wearing his helmet or a hood or something. But with the Gimongus breathing tubes sticking out, I guess that's not likely.
Tankster:
pure custom fodder i will make it even better than this lame interpetation
gunslingercbr:
let me get this straight. it's okay for Hawk to get a completely new design in 86, Snake Eyes in 85, or Dusty in the 90's, but any new character designs were only acceptable when we were children and had to cease once we have grown up?
CURRAHEE CHRIS:
Really disappointed on this figure- have kept a positive attitude on all the new stuff but this one is just puzzling.

This figure will have more haters than Jesus............

In my opinion, both versions of CC, hooded and helmet, would look ridiculous on screen. I like the pic without the air hoses better, but this is a great design!

Seeing this and Destro make me think a sequel will be better than this movie.
SVT_COBRA:
DO NOT WANT.

Notice the packaging has 'ICE VIPER' and trenchcoat SnakeEyes!

Apparently.

Because it's not the same stuff that we had as kids it's no good.

Which is pure BS.
MrClean:
I don't mind the redesign. Honestly, I think if they had went with the traditional hood or mask in the movie, it would have looked hokey. More like cosplay at a convention.
I do think the hoses are a bit out of place. They're not even pictured on the photo.
Nice touch giving him his trademark pistol.

I don't think that is the issue. The problem is that this is so FAR removed from the character it is distracting.

I would have even been cool if CC had not worn a mask at all, except maybe when threatening the world.

I was just hoping more for a Marvel Comic CC.. but it looks like they took the Cartoon FREAK CC and ran with it.

Plus.. you can see his mish mush face... To me that makes him less threatening. Its more scary to wonder what face is behind the mask, than to see its mish mush crap in all its glory.

So IMO it isn't that its a new take, its that its so far removed from the Character I am familiar with its like CC isn't even in the movie at all.

Could have called him something else if they wanted to invent a totally new character.
RUNAMUCK:

NOT! total crap

it's the first time we see him and thus stage one. somthin tells me his image will evolve into somthing we recognise in the next film.
Griff:
3 words...NOT COBRA COMMANDER!!! This thing is a pure abomination...i mean how can they make destro look good yet BASTARDIZE Cobra Commander so badly?!! This is by far the WORST figure yet...this almost makes ripcord look good...almost.

and when the version 2 comes out?

This is kind of what I'm thinking.
MrClean:
I just realized this is another ws_toys auction and he also has Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes! Too bad they're not Buy It Now or Free Shipping like on his loose ones. Rats. I hope he posts loose ones of these too.

This is version 2. Version one is The Doctor.
Troynos:
Like I said in the other thread that mysteriously disappeared..

I have a feeling the last scene in the movie is CC looking like this but putting the classic hood on and that's what he's wearing in the sequals.

Don't forget people, it's called RISE of Cobra, meaning it's the creation of Cobra.

Wouldn't make much sense for CC to be wearing the hood right off the bat without giving a reason why he wears the hood.
foor:
Why oh why couldn't they just make movie CC as a guy with reflective sunglasses in a trenchcoat as I have envisioned. Instead we get mutant space monster.
SnakeEyes2184:
That is by far the coolest looking CC I have even seen, he reminds me alot of the Battle armor CC. Awesome Awesome Awesome.

There are a few things that I'm wondering.
1. How long will CC be in the movie looking like this?
2. What will he look like in the next movie?
3. How will it work out on screen?
4. Can he come off evil enough that we won't care what he looks like?

Um... Wrongo!!!

Major suck.

Part of the appeal of CC was that he was consealing his image because he was that dangerous. He could be any one of us out there on the streets. We would not know who he was if we bumped into him. He's a military genius with a dillusional personality intent on taking over the world at any price.

Not a battle-damaged bubble boy who has to wear a mask because he cannot breathe without a specialized oxygen supply. I mean if his lungs burned up in a fire I get that... but that's exactly why Darth Vader wears his costume. He needs the air pumped into his lungs for him.

Wouldn't it be funny if he walks through the movie with the same sound as darth vader's breathing device. In fact here's a few quotes from the new movie:

hhhhhhhh... hhhhhhhhh.... "Destro...." hhhhhh.... hhhhh... Where are the plans for the moon battle station?".... hhhhhh... hhhhh....

hhhhh... "Don't under-estimate the power of the cobra".... hhhh

"Serpentor"... hhhhhh..... hhhhhh... "What is thy bidding my master"....

hhhhh..... "BILLY".... "Help me take this mask off. I want to look upon you with my own eyes"..... hhhhhhh ..... hhhhhh

Yeah, but when you reinvent a character, going with the super deformed by a freak accident bent on taking his frustration out on a helpless world super villian is a bit cliche.

The out of work used car salesman with the Charisma of Hilter and a miracle pyramid scheme using tanks and ammo was clever.
AMERICAN_Hero7:
IMO he looks like Krang from the Ninja Turtles...but I'm not hating, I think it will look fantastic on screen (where it really counts)

because a knights visor is one step away from goggles. and that is the issue considering some of the responses are criticizing it while clamoring for a reproduction of the hood or visor.

I won't even get into the tried and ridiculous "if they aren't going to design them how I want them they should have just made them something else" argument. how about 85 Snake Eyes being a completely new character, or 86 Hawk? that's the point.
SniperX:
secrets he has that left him in a fiery accident? wtf is that bull shit all about!!?

my argument had nothing to do with the execution of the character at all.
Gung.Heaux:
cant defend that.

All they did with those characters was put them in new clothes. Snake Eyes in all his versions had some kind of a visor, was in all black and usually had a sword.

Hawk just put on his General Clothes... but all in all the characters were the same.

My argument isn't about what the character is wearing... its that the whole CORE of the character has been changed.

I think I read somewhere that Hawk drop pre CC in a vat of acid and that is how CC gets this new look......Oh wait nevermind that is someone else. lol That is the guy that lives next to me...oh wait...

Then where is his Pale white face, ruby lips and green hair? LOL
darthdoug:
The guy you live next to got dropped into a vat of acid by Hawk???

Whoa!
SnakeEyes2184:
I think the mask totally rocks.
Troynos:
So now we have 3 versions of CC's origin that are far apart.

1 - Comic version, disillusioned used car salesman

3 - 1,000 year old snake-man

and the one that falls in the middle"

2 - the movie version

So what's the big deal? Looking at it, this kind of falls in the middle of the two origins of CC. In the cartoon he used a mask to hide his multi-eyed snake face. And in the comic he just used it to hide his appearance.

So now in the movie he's given a reason to wear a mask (disfigured) and has a more realistic origin, ex-special forces soldier.
duecey:
lol
The crappy crystal skull from last years blockbuster has returned to kill again!

But seriously I doubt he'll look like this through all the flicks. And were seeing this out of context, so who knows, it might work in the movie.
Shin Densetsu:
I much prefer the old, original battle mask, practical, hid his identity, and was iconic. Yes some may say it would look too simple for film but it was designed for practicality, and I'm not saying this because I'm an RAH fan, it just looks and functions better to me.

If you see this guy riding into battle do you think that mask would protect him? I doubt it. This could have been a lot better and more functional.

Reminds me of Chimera in G.I. Joe Origins, except the face was intentionally changed.
