Nope... Hasbro would like to pretend DIC does not exist... as would I.

And I absolutely love the disc art. They went all out with this set!!!

i wouldn't mind getteing the (dic) version to.

Important questions:
1) Are we sure this set will be Dicless because it wouldn't be the "complete series" without them. Doesn't matter if we love or hate em, we're gonna need the Dic episodes as well. If Hasbro was gonna omit a cartoon due to quality, the only classic Transformers toon we'd be seeing is the movie!

2) How do Shout pre-orders work? Will they bill my card now or on the 7/15?

The set will not have the DIC series. The person working on it, B Ward, has said so.

And Shout charges your card right away. I checked when I pre-ordered mine with Transformers last month.

I ordered the Joe set on 5/29 also and have yet to be charged for it.

You might wanna check on that. My card was also charged right away...

Anyone know how wide a release this will have in "brick and mortar" stores? It's roughly a month away and not listed on Best Buy's website, only season 1.1... I have terrible luck getting these kinds of box sets delivered without damage and would likely not buy it if I can't pick it up at Best Buy or Fye...

not true. they don't charge you. it says so in the email confirmation and in the ordering FAQ on their site. they will post a temp charge to make sure the card is valid, but it will go away after some time.

Also, does anyone know of any coupon codes for Shout? It asks for them on the order page.

I can vouch for what Fast Draw is saying as I got it with the Transformers series on May 30th and it was a temporary charge that went away. Also indicated the availability as being July 15th for the GI Joe.

I did my preorder two weeks ago, I can't wait for it to ship! The only bummer is they charged my card immediately. Never mind, I just read the previous posts.

Im not sure what to think, I tried to pre order it and it wouldn't let me. I have pending charges for bills and what not so it seems like I'm gonna have to wait until my next payday as well. It just said it declilned it..so it makes me think they are trying to charge it right now

The temp charge probably sees if you have enough on the card to cover it then.

They haven't said what retail outlets will be getting the box set, only that it's available at the SDCC and on their website first.

Oh, and to answer the questions about running times and how many episodes, etc... We are not moving into the DiC Entertainment years, only Sunbow. We have a pretty good relationship with the company once known as DiC, but have no real relationship with Cookie Jar, so it's not really as simple as giving 'em a call. Doesn't mean it'll never happen. But it does mean that the DiC incarnation of the series will not be included in our complete series set, nor will we be working on those season sets anytime soon.

In addition, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero - Season 1.1 will include both original miniseries.

Yup. It's the full sunbow series, minus the movie.

Do we know if the video and audio are the same as the Rhino release? or if the running order is the same as Rhino? I seem to remember that Rhino added some funky sound effects here and there, and also used the wrong opening credits for season one right? Anyone know if those have been fixed?

Preordered both the Joe and TF sets a couple weeks ago. With all this hype with both Hasbro franchises I feel like I'm back in the 80's. 2009 Rocks!

Yes they do charge your account, But basicly put the money back in after like 5 business days, they kind of check to see if you have the funds to pay for it.

Does it include the movie? Because if it doesn't then as far as I'm concerned it's not the complete series.!!!!.....what the heck I'm going to buy it anyway. I JUST WANT THAT @(&^@*_ MOVIE! BIG LOB was the man.

Not sure if this has been posted yet or not, but in an interview in a magazine (I think it was "Toy Fare" or something like that), the producer of the Transformers set talked about how they worked with the same prints that Rhino used, but then went on to say that they looked at the boards to see where these prints weren't accurate color wise or left out scenes, etc. In those cases, they went back to the originals and inserted missing scenes, recolored incorrect outfits, and worked to get things to look like they did originally. The producer said they were able rework the edits to the point that you won't notice the changes unless you are REALLY looking for them. (This was true for both the Transformers and GI Joe.) So, I won't say that this release is just a repackaging of the Rhino videos. It would seem this is a definitive collection.

This looks just incredible. I placed my order for it. I'll probably pick up the individual ones too if they come with different goodies which they probably will.

Yeah I read that too... you may have read that on their site's forums or as it was talked about on TFW... it's amazing the time and care they took to make the TF set the definitive set by fixing the choices Rhino made with added sound effects, etc. I mean, they even went to youtube and to forums like this to see discussions of where errors were... awesome.
