The pre-production sample packaging we showed you yesterday is not the only sample on Ebay, as delicateangel01 has posted another auction for the new packaging, this time with an Armored Panther with Sgt. Thunderblast packed within. The graphics are just placeholders but give us an idea for what to expect, with regards to text and imagery for the new bravo class H.I.S.S. Tank and V.A.M.P..
The box itself is(as you can see), meant for alpha class vehicles. Vehicles such as the upcoming Doom Cycle, retooled Ghost HAWK, and Cycle Armor. A small disclaimer is taped to the back of the box, stating that the size and design may vary slightly once in production.
We'll see more later this week at Toy Fair, however being that this box is more compact and seemingly slimmer than the Rise of Cobra packaging, there may not be many changes left aside from more graphics. Click on the title bar to see more.

V.AM.P. you ask? Remember that new ground vehicle that looked like a VAMP which was revealed last month?
So your probably wondering why on earth is a Cobra vehicle of all things, in a G.I. Joe package? That's because this is a pre-production sample! Changes might be made before final production, but in any case this packaging confirms 3 things:- The vehicle we thought was a new V.A.M.P. IS a new V.A.M.P.!
- The look of the new packaging for later in Fall 2010

Joe Rise of Cobra, will have a more substantial role in G.I. Joe 2. Also listed is the tentative start for filming this year, and pending release date in 2012: Korean actor Lee Byung Hun is set to receive a more substantial role in the sequel to G.I. Joe.
The character of Storm Shadow, played by the IRIS star, will be given more emphasis in the upcoming sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Paramount Pictures acknowledged that Lee’s work contributed much to the success of the first film and are developing more stories around his character. Lee has been getting much attention outside of the Korean market recently for his roles in G.I. Joe and last years I Come with the Rain, where he starred along side Josh Hartnett and Japanese actor Takuya Kimura.
Filming for the sequel is scheduled to begin in August with a pending 2012 release.
Will Storm Shadow reveal to Snake Eyes that he did not kill the Hard Master? This was shown not only in the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra Official Movie Adaptation by IDW Publishing but was also confirmed by Stephen Sommers in an interview prior to the premiere of the movie last year. Will Storm Shadow defect to the G.I. Joe team?

Troynos has provided all new images of the retooled Ghost HAWK prototype, presumably for the G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra line. This prototype features significant retooling, providing a futuristic look for the venerable and iconic Sky Hawk.
The new Ghost HAWK comes with Lift Ticket though like with Roll Bar, though the figures share the same mold, the identity might be different. Or would you rather see Lift Ticket come with a retooled(for sturdiness) Tomahawk?
The new Ghost HAWK features more details which help it stand apart from it's predecessor. Here's what Troynos had to say about it: Here's the prototype Ghost H.A.W.K.
First the figure, not sure if it'll be final figure or not, but it's the same as the 25th Lift-Ticket, just a different head. It's the same head as the one with the VAMP prototype figure. So not that much there.
As for the H.A.W.K. itself:
The missile launcher is one side only and detachs. It looks like some of the other launchers can be put in the same spot. I didn't get a chance to check (kind of rushed tonight) but I will tomorrow, as well as take more pics if wanted).
The landing struts are heavier and there's a thicker connection piece to the main body. It makes it look more.. well.. real. It's not thin and looks solid. The struts themselves are solid looking as well.
The large wings are gone from the back replaced with smaller ones. I kind of miss the middle one, but the little rudder looks pretty cool though.
One negative is the placement of the jets to the side wings. The jets, if real of course, would be constantly melting the wings.
The jets are smaller and look more factual I guess. I don't know, but I like them.
All in all I hope this makes it to production cause it's really a sweet little vehicle. Can't wait to see one painted up and see what the final colors are.

HISS Tank boards member Scotty97 has given us the heads up on the new action figure aisle reset at Walmart. The amount of space allocated to G.I. Joe toys has been reduced. This also goes along with the fact that some of the underperforming sublines of the Rise of Cobra line will not continue in 2010.
For those of you who like the alpha/bravo vehicles and single figures, no worries, those will continue to ship and there is space for them. Click on the title bar to see some images taken by Scotty97.

Tffans has posted a new image of the upcoming Snow Cat repaint for the G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra line; the Wolf Hound with Whiteout! Sure we've seen the Wolf Hound before, but not like this. How so? The plastic this version is molded in is different, for example, Whiteout now features black stripes, meanwhile the canopy of the Wolf Hound is now transparent black, with black swirls in the plastic as opposed to brown on the previous sample.
Why such a variation would turn up now has fans scratching heads. Yet, could one of the Wolf Hound with Whiteout variations end up in a future Past and Present vehicle set? Join the speculation now by clicking the discuss button!

Remember that pilot Firefly figure from Rise of Cobra with the Elite Viper head that we showed you last month? Well it turns out, our initial hunch was correct and that figure is legit after all. Yet that isn't the biggest news update for today....
As reported by HISS Tank boards member Gyre-Viper, we are getting even more new, previously unannounced vehicles for G.I. Joe Pursuit of Cobra!. Pursuit of Cobra vehicles are already shaping up to be more exciting than the Rise of Cobra vehicles, with the designs not limited to movie appearances, but this time, the imagination of the design team! Troynos has also elaborated with more details. The intel is as follows:- We are getting another wave of Rip Attack Vehicles
- New winged hovercraft with Snake Eyes w/Matt Trakker mask
- Cobra ski mobile with Elite Viper w/pilot Firefly body
That's not all, we are also getting the following:- All new motorcycle(could this be a new Dreadknok cycle?)*EDIT* CONFIRMED as new Dreadknok Cycle!
- Retooled Ghost HAWK
Now we haven't seen the Ghost HAWK since the Modern Era line, and being that Hasbro only used the mold for one paint scheme, it seemed inevitable that it would return eventually. More surprising was that it did not make an appearance in the Rise of Cobra line. That all changes now, as it has been significantly retooled! Details on the new Ghost HAWK are as follows:- Same body, canopy, and chin cannons
- Engine intakes are now blocky instead of cylindrical
- New landing skids
- Missle launchers replace removable missles on the side
- New stabilizers(horizontal/vertical aft of engines)
- Comes with repaint of Lift Ticket, possibly with a new head
*UPDATE* Gyre-Viper has passed along more information. The cycle is a Dreadknok Cycle indeed! Also, the Ghost HAWK might be a cancelled Rise of Cobra item, yet since the tooling was already made, chances are it might see an appearance in the Pursuit of Cobra line. Remember, Hasbro only used that mold once before, for the Modern Era line, and tooling new parts costs money, so don't be surprised if we see this new Ghost HAWK later this fall. Click on the title bar to see all of the new vehicles!

According to a recent interview conducted by MTV, Brendan Fraser had no idea who he was playing in G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra. While we saw him onscreen as Sgt. Stone in Rise of Cobra, the identity of the character he was playing was not known, even by him, until much long after his takes were done: “I want to say that I know the answer to that,” the star said with a laugh when we caught up with him recently. “Who exactly was I? I did not know until I saw the credit crawl when I saw the movie!”
“I think the character ended up being named ‘Sergeant Stone,’” Fraser said of a decision that was apparently made long after he had shot his scenes. “I think they might have picked it out of a hat.”
“I know [Stone wasn’t a toy],” Fraser added. “It wasn’t there [in the ‘G.I. Joe’ mythology].”
*Sgt. Stone was from Sigma 6*
Fraser was long rumored to be playing Gung Ho, and it turns out, the fan-favorite Cajun Marine might not be showing up in G.I. Joe 2 either: But here’s the most interesting part: according to Fraser, the reason why Gung-Ho wasn’t in “Rise of Cobra” wasn’t that they were saving him for the sequel. Instead, it appears that Hasbro and Paramount couldn’t obtain legal clearance to use the name.
“For legal reasons, I couldn’t be Gung-Ho,” the star said. “I don’t know [why]; it didn’t clear legal at Paramount. Go ask them. I don’t know.” We did ask Paramount, and are currently waiting for their response.
In G.I. Joe 2, whether as Sgt. Stone or not, Fraser has plans for a more integral onscreen appearance: “If I can emulate the character that they gave me,” Fraser said. “I’ll have to talk to Steven [Sommers, the director] about this. You know, that’s a good idea! I’ll have to do that over lunch.”
“I am looking for a job, actually,” he laughed, adding that the cryptic character may have an even more complicated backstory than Snake Eyes if Fraser gets his way. “Maybe I could be [his ‘Mummy’ character] Rick O’Connell’s great-great-grandson or something like that, who is actually in on being one of the Joes.”
So goodbye Gung Ho, and welcome whoever Fraser ends up playing this time around.

HISS Tank boards member Arashikage Storm has found the Rip Attack Vehicles from G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra at his local Toys 'R' Us store. One set features another Elite Viper while the other features a frankensteined Snake Eyes. Sets currently available include:- Tiger Strike with Street Viper
- Jet Storm Cycle with Snake Eyes
Retail price at TRU is $14.99. It has been over a decade since ripcord vehicles have been seen in the G.I. Joe line(anyone remember the Battle Copters with the likes of Interrogator?). Will these new Rip Attack vehicles be a success with kids in 2010?

Aside from working on Deadpool for 20th Century Fox, according to Collider, writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick are now onboard to write G.I. Joe 2: Back in August, we reported Paramount’s Vice Chairman Rob Moore said a sequel would soon go into development. Since that time, the studio has provided no updates for fans.
But thanks to some very reliable sources, I can report a screenwriter has been hired for G.I. Joe 2 (or whatever it’s going to be called) and Paramount is definitely moving forward with the project.
While I tried my best to find out who landed the writing gig, my sources wouldn’t budge.
I also wasn’t able to learn if Stephen Sommer’s is going to direct the sequel or if they’re bringing in fresh blood.
Of course the sequel is still in the early stages of development, but since a screenplay has been commissioned and if it turns out that everyone involved likes it, I’d imagine we’ll hear a lot more about this in the coming months. Also, all the actors from the first film were signed for sequels, so that should make the process a bit smoother.
UPDATE:
As I said last night, a writer has been hired for G.I. Joe 2. What I didn’t know was…I should have said WRITERS. Thanks to a great source, I can report Zombieland’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are writing the sequel to G.I. Joe! This is on top of the recently announced news that they’re writing Deadpool for 20th Century Fox.
While I don’t know how long they’ve been on either project, as a huge fan of Zombieland, I’m really excited they’re on Joe.
One big thing to note aside from the new writing team, is that this time around, there IS NO writer's strike to hinder the process! May this result in a decidedly more thought out movie? Hit that discuss button and let us know what you think!
