Dragasses:
I bet hand painting the back of that Range Viper's head was loads of fun to do, but these are lovely.
sonofdestro:
Does anybody know what cartoon those are from, I don't recognize them. Is it Valor VS Venom or something.

These character design sheets are amazing!! It truly is a lost art seeing cels like this with everything being digitally colored now for years.

Thanks I just Googled DIC by the looks of what I saw I'm glad I missed those 90's episodes. However the important thing is "now I know an knowing is half the battle."

I know everyone has to be sick of those "half the battle jokes", but sorry I couldn't resist.
GI C:
Yeah, you didn't miss much. The DIC cartoon of r GI Joe was really bad in my opinion. The voice acting was horrible.Everyone sounded like they were breath helium.
A.V.A.C.:
i saw these last week. i hunt for this kind of stuff. i picked up 3 dic animation cells with the original drawings for $20 bucks a page a month ago and they want $3500 for one, yeah right.
Snow Job:
Way too high, I don't care how many years old it is.
Tracker:
Too bad the animation wasn't better because there character designs and art style was good.

I wouldn't mind seeing these versions of Rock & Role and Zarana as 25th's
delta:
I'd probably trade My whole collection for that one of the Baroness. I'm going to need the room My collection takes up, and this is something cool, unique, and also small.

I could use the space My collection takes up for a place to do art or something productive, insted of celebrating mass produced stuff that anybody could have got at wal-mart, or TRU over the past 27 years. Hell I'd even throw in My transformers.
xFlintx:
I wouldn't mind owning that Sarge, but not at that price.
spazzy:
Wow ridiculous prices, what is this a disney cartoon?

Those look more like model sheets than actual production cels.

I used to work in an animation art gallery and I didn't even see pieces from Chuck Jones or Tex Avery for that kind of dough, unless there were MANY characters.
hayardin:
Yeah, the DIC run of G.I.JOE was horrible, destroying everything that Sunbow had set up, but I do recommend "Operation Dragonfire", which is the 5 part series opener, and can be found in it's entirety on youtube. It is really bizarre, watching them try and put things back together after "G.I.JOE the Movie". Zaranna, and Destro? Jeez! Poor Baroness.
pud333:
$3500? How could you ever verify if it is legit?

I agree, operation dragonfire is a must see b/c it is the one post gi joe the movie where the baroness helps turn cobra commander "halfway" back to a "man". I admit that I have the DIC collection and it is of no comparison to the original. Do any of you guys remember the opening to the DIC series...they fracked it all up changing the song from..."Gi joe a real American hero...." to "Gi joe INTERNATIONAL HEROES...."...what is funny is that even though they changed it to international heroes....it still said Real American Hero underneath the GI JOE logo where all the characters line up at the end!!....LOLOLOLOL
NeoDragonKnight:
I also thought Dragon Fire was decent, you have to give some props in killing off Serpentor and bringing back CC. We also got to see some of the new breed of vehicles and vipers (though they never actually used them in their proper enviornments, the night vipers fought in day and alley viper in the jungle). The internation heroes thing never bugged me, I could care less really how the theme song went and changing one word honestly didnt make much of a difference. The important thing was the animation, story and voice acting, which all went downhill with DIC.

All true, all true. However at the time I loved having a Joe toon to watch that featured current characters I thought were really cool. Some of the '91-'92 figures are still my favorite incarnations of certain characters.

I totally disagree...no take that back, STRONGLY disagree. Changing one word didn't make a difference? you don't think changing American to somin else is no big deal??....the whole point of Gi joe the very soul of it revolves around being an American hero...granted i will agree about the animation and story lines, but dude as soon as, no offense to Canadians overall, Canada stepped in with DIC, they went totally politically Correct and did away with the very root of Gi joe and did away with the "America" aspect along with rainbow bright colored uniforms....I can remember being 9 goin on ten back in 85 (wern't you like 4 ???) and watching and feeling a sense of pride when I heard the original Joe song opening..all bc i am american and it WAS ABOUT America...all DIC was good for was alley viper, python patrol and Destros IG's...IMHO....Don't get me wrong I respect anyones opinion but in regards to this and anyone who doesn't feel remotely the same...we can just agree to disagree
mackettric:
Cool art, but not even GI Joe Marvel/Sunbow key production set-ups go for $3500.

Model cels are cool, but they're not always one of a kind. They're made to be references, so often times many are made. Studios will send some models to the animators overseas, but usually they keep a set in-house as a reference for the producers, artists, etc.

Van Eaton had a bunch of DIC Joe model cels a while back for way cheaper, maybe $50-100 bucks. I've never seen any DIC model cels for the main characters. The design was decent, too bad DIC spent so little on animation. Their budget was less than half what Marvel spent.
zarana:
Anyone want to permenantly lend me $3,000?
