Zombie Viper Retail Infestation

I know these are coming in from online retailers, but I just found one at WalMart in Gastonia, NC! I didn't see any other wave 4 figures, but I found the Zombie Viper!

I literally exclaimed "Oh Shit! A Zombie Viper!" in a toy section full of children when I found him. I was shocked!

It's possible someone only wanted 1 of each. The case comes with two Zombies and everyone (except for Storm Shadow) from wave 3. Since There's 3 TV's in the pic, I'd say there was a mix of left overs from wave 3 & 4 on the pegs (Wave 3 has 2 TV's while 4 has only 1)

When it rains it pours. I still haven't completed wave 3 yet. So many cool figures out right now. I was wondering if they were going to try to push these out before Christmas.

Uh, do you guys realize that this could suck pretty badly. Some stores will get wave 3 cases while others will get wave 4. Some people will find a shit load of Sci-Fi's & Zombie Vipers & others will find none.

Just like the new Star Wars vintage figures. One store got 7 or 8 Princess Leia's on REVENGE cards while other stores got RETURN cards. I was looking for RETURN but could only find REVENGE. I had to drive all over to find a RETURN card.

I think that's pretty much Wal-Mart distribution in a nutshell.

Here locally, one Wal-Mart got like twenty pallets of new toys and the other three stores appear to have received exactly...nothing. I mean, seriously, nothing at all. Well, some Beyblades...but the toy departments at the other three look the same as they've looked for months.
GIJOE seems to have sold well at the store with twenty pallets...there was literally one lonely Renegades COBRA Commander on the pegs after about 4 cases worth of the refresh wave a few weeks ago.

I've seen remnants of one Wave 3 case at a local Wal-Mart. Not the one with twenty pallets of toys. It was actually the Wal-Mart that typically never has anything.

And I've seen the same Star Wars Vintage case. The twenty pallet store looked like it got ten cases of the Revenge Slave Leia assortment.

It's a hoot. I'm grateful for my pre-orders.

Reminds me of the DCU walmart wave a few years back (ya know, the one that showed up no where and they re-released later?) Yeah I saw Riddler show up once, then twice, then one day I walked in and there were literally 10 sets worth of every figure from that wave on all the shelves and pegs. Apparently no one else in the region ever saw that wave....yay Walmart...had I known how much those figures would wind up going for, I woulda turned scalper in a heartbeat

I might have to buy them online. Last week when I was hunting Techno-Vipers it was easy, that was the only case they were getting. But now if the wave 4 cases are mixed in I'm sure i'll drive all over creation & only be able to find wave 3 cases. I can't remember what it was exactly but I've been through that before.

Not a fluke. I found wave 4 in Los Angeles on Thursday at a small toy store in downtown.

Swiping what I bet was all of them in the store is not too cool.

I troop build to five on specialty troopers (like Techno Vipers) and 15 on standard trooper (like Vipers, Cobra Troopers, ect.). I always stop after those numbers, but if that's what I find at the store I buy it. I went to over ten stores and probably drove 300 miles before I found what I did. I got lucky... it happens. I don't expect anyone to leave them for me if they found them, and I do not scalp. If another collector approached me at the store, I'd give him one before I paid for it. I was there, however, they were there, and I bought them.

The issue isn't that you. Bought the techno vipers, but why didn't you troop build renegades duke and cc purchased from stores in spfld mo?

I already have 890 Renegades Dukes. I'll buy another 700 next Christmas at Ross.

SSSOOO Dude you live in the Lansing area of Michigan is what your saying as that is acactly how they do it here. a WM on the north end will get everything while the east and west get nothing!!!!!!!!!!! and I always get told by the toy nazi manager the old stuff has to sell before we get new, I tell him the north store clearances their stuff to sell and that the desert attack aliens duke aint selling unless its $3.00 whatever, I guess i will start hunting on trade with you guys who do get them.

I am siding with Blayze, why leave them for a real scalper at christmas who is gonna screw you hard at 3-4 x' the store for you to get it. if blayze gets his limit and then picks them up to sell to us at cost plus shipping he is a dam hero in my eyes. or trades with us for stuff he needs either way it is win win hasbro gets money, we get joes for those who need them he gets his money back (or items in trade) and the whore toy scalper can rot on his ass.

There's no way in hell anybody would leave a Techno-Viper on the pegs. Just like there's no way in hell anybody would leave a Zombie Viper on the pegs. That's gonna be another one that's hard as hell to find.

There is a scalper in my town who will do that very thing. I once saw him in Target with a ton of Star Wars figures. A kid asked if he could buy one that the guy had three or four of (kid was probably about ten). The guy told him he'd sell it to him for $20 after he checked out. True story.

Not sure if you're new to the scene of toy collecting or not... I had given up collecting and playing with toys back in 1991 but was pulled back into the scene when my childhood best friend showed my the first Wave of 25th Anniversary Joes. I was instantly hooked and have been since. I can say it's a crazy scene of guys in their late 20s to 30s that battle over these, remember what were talking about, toys. Collectors combined with scalpers this has become like a battle to get your hands on them. What I have found getting back into this scene is that many of the players love to horde them. And I am not talking about 3 of them like you pointed out. Let's talk 300+ of troop builders! When I grew up people usually satisfed with one or maybe two of a figure but now that all of us kids grew up to men with jobs many buy as many as their wallet allows. This combined with poor distribution and stocking the competition is fierce. There are plenty of guys who camp out in front of stores to be the first one when they open 7 days a week to buy every single "hot" figure, of any line I might add not just GI Joe. Some of these guys are scalpers but some are just avid fans addicted to the rush of the purchase and the amssing of a mighty army. I don't camp out or hit stores everyday but I can say that everytime I walking into a store and there are more than one troop builder I buy them all... It is an interesting scene to be involved with to say the least. To the Joe fans out there this is serious business! LOL!!! What am I rambling on about!?! It's the truth though, I enjoy this hobby so much! Happy hunting my fellow tankers! Nice score on the Zombie Viper!!!

So then you buy up all the old crap & return it to one of the other stores. Empty the damn pegs so they'll get the new stuff in.

I like those Zombie Vipers...it's like Resident Evil meets GI Joe. Give me a 3 3/4 Claire Redfield, and Leon, and I'd be happy!

Okay, so is the Renegades SS wave 3....or wave 4? Just asking because BBTS doesn't have him in the preorder for wave 4 and they also don't have him as singles for wave 3 either but all the rest of the wave 3 figures are up for order. I thought SS was part of wave 4 also........but maybe not?

SS is wave 3 and only comes 1 per case. He is not in the wave 4 case for some reason.
