SK Omega Virus Ballistic Trooper

7377 has posted a new piece of artwork for the Virus Ballistic Trooper from SK Omega on his deviantart page. The Ballistic Trooper will be an enemy army builder figure in the line. Here's more info from 7377:

Ballistic Troopers are the basic ground units for the evil terrorist organization known as Virus. These units receive training based upon standards set by Jade Claw. Certification as a Ballistic Trooper is needed in order to qualify for entrance into the more elite Virus special operations units.

GIJCC 25th Dial-Tone Membership Figure Announced

The G.I. Joe Collectors' Club announced the 2011 Membership figures in their September issue. There are no pictures yet, but the GIJCC has provided the following details about the figures

The 3 3/4" figure is a 25th anniversary style Dial-Tone in his tan and green deco including an all new head sculpt!

The 12" figure is still being finalized but the club gives some details about it
*He will be flocked
*He'll have a scar
*He won't have a beard

GI Joe 2 To Possibly Start Filming At The End Of 2010

In what may or may not be a surprise, GI Joe 2 may start filming at the end of this year, according to allkpop.

While posting news on rumors circulating about Storm Shadow actor Lee Byung Hun's casting in IRIS 2(sequel to a popular K drama series that Lee starred in), allkpop posted a blurb regarding Lee's involvement with the GI Joe Movie sequel. Here's what they had to say:

However, during a phone conversation between newspaper company OSEN and an associate of Lee Byung Hun�s entertainment company, they stated,

�We have never received a casting offer from the production company Taewon Entertainment, nor have we even read the synopsis of the drama.

In reality, we are not in a situation for Lee Byung Hun to be cast for this spinoff(IRIS 2). The filming for �G.I Joe 2′ will start at the end of this year. Due to �G.I Joe 2′, there will not be any plans for him to star in other dramas or movies for a while.�

Previously, the film was said to possibly start filming early next spring.

Molten Monkey International SK Omega Recent Artwork

One of the most promising and ambitious lines announced earlier this year was SK Omega by Molten Monkey International(MMI). The line features action figures with o-ring construction and designs by 2 notable designers who worked on the classic, GI Joe A Real American Hero line:

With plans for an enemy base, large transport helicopter, an AV-8B Harrier based aircraft called the Javelin, and a rather sinister looking enemy fighter plane called The Grackle, this line did not fail to excite. It's been a while since we've seen/heard anything about it. What has MMI been up to?

GIJOE Pursuit of Cobra Recondo Review

Recondo is an all new sculpt. This is a new look for Recondo with a few details reminiscent of his classic look. His hat appears to be a slightly retooled mold from the Attack of Cobra Island set Recondo. The details are a little softer on this one. The hat really only fits on his head when it�s pushed back a little, it won�t rest on his eyebrows. Recondo�s removable vest has a lot of sculpted detail, a glued on satellite phone and two holes on either side near the belt to allow you to store both of his axes. The backpack has two rotating solar panels, a retractable string and a big red button. The string plug attaches to the peg on the side of the bear trap so that when the bear trap gets someone you can press the button and it�ll yank them towards you.

Recent Tom Feister Interview

Newsarama interviewed Tom Feister recently, whose work has appeared on IDW's GI Joe books, such as GI Joe Origins. The interview is informative, with Feister talking about his artistic influences and his thoughts behind illustrating his pieces. It also has some advice aimed at aspiring comic artists, like the following words of wisdom:

Get into comics because you love it and you think you can bring something to the artform. The last few years I find a new artist nearly every day that makes me think "Ooooo, I want to know how they did that." I feel like I know less. When I was in college and showing off my samples I thought it was pretty hot stuff. Now I look and I think about how much I have left to learn. But that's not a bad thing. Rockwell was experimenting with his craft until he died. That's how I want to go out. I would tell people coming up to find people working in the biz and spend as much time with them as possible. Learn everything you can. Even if it's what not to do. Try and remember those lessons.

With GI Joe Pursuit Of Cobra Wave 2 figures already released in stores, the vehicles won't be far behind! Considering the Ice Cutter With Snow Serpent Officer? Well if you're on the fence, townshend of ACTOYS has posted images of the new alpha vehicle, out of box!

The Snow Serpent Officer retains the weapons and accessories from the 25th Anniversary Snow Serpent. Meanwhile, the Ice Cutter is one of the all "new" molds made for Pursuit Of Cobra, albeit pushed back from its original launch date(supposed to be much earlier this year).
