"Critiques"? How could anyone find anything wrong with this!?!

Absolutely spot on perfect. I think my favorite of yours thus far.

Also, "One Trick Pony"... Stop it. You don't need to be so modest.

Nice work, man.
horus0129:
Very cool and creative custom.

I could think of quite a few improvements, generally in the accessories department.

Anyhoo, Pretty good stuff, Lance. Kind of along the lines of my Vietnam era figure using Rockblock.
lance858a:
Thanks all for the kind words.

The jacket started out as ROC Rex Lewis jacket. I cut it and added the pockets. I also added a strip of fodder along the bottom edge of the jacket to give the appearance of a hemline.

Steal away my friend. I steal from this forum all the time!

I've been wanting to do a Roadblock for the longest time. I just wasn't happy with what was available for Roadblock until now. Its a bit eerie how the Rock can be made to look so much like the cartoon Roadblock IMO.

Someone else actually repainted this figure long before this thread. I wanted to credit that customizer but couldn't find the thread. Anyhow, I was shocked to see how much this figure could look like the cartoon Raodblock so I rushed out and rescued a peg warmer solely for this purpose.

Yeah, too bad I sold my other WWII Joes. I would have loved to have taken some group pics.

I'm sure someone could find something to critique. I'm always open to it. Also, Haha, thanks for the compliment.

Do tell on the accessories. I was gonna add a few grenades but I didn't have any that looked good enough. The belt came from a WWII figure, the shoulder straps were made from fodder pieces.

Also, yeah, he could look like Vietnam War era Roadblock with the sleeveless look.

I was going to give him rolled up sleeves but it didn't scream Roadblock to me. IMO, Roadblock needs to be sleeveless and show off his massive guns. So I imagine he would cut the sleeves off his jacket for no other reason than to frighten the hell out of anyone who even thinks about going up against him. And if you were his Sgt., would you try to tell him he's not in regulation uniform?
Xerofall:
That helmet really makes the figure look vintage. Good job.
80sKid:
Wow! I really like this! Your work is incredible thank you for sharing!
orezona:

Oh wait, it already has been!

Congrats once again.

The helmet and the pencil thin mustache. Seriously, such a small detail and so subtle, yet such an impact on establishing the era. Since the basic look could have fit in several war periods, the mustache solidified this as definitive WWII.

And the vest was wonderfully done.
Troops of Doom:
Awesome! Perfect look for the WWII theme. Only think I'd add is a little hair on his chin for the classic look.

Ya know, at first I thought the Sunbow cartoon version had hair on his chin. I looked up images and realized that he actually didn't have any. So I just made the mustache pencil thin to fit the era.

His card art did depict him with hair on his chin though and later versions had it as well but I wanted this guy to be just like the Sunbow cartoon version. The guy I remember so fondly from the cartoon who was a gourmet chef and would always rhyme with every line.

sgcaper:
That is really really nice. I love the paint apps and the parts combo is superb.
Konigstiger:
Ya know, the more I look at those Heavy Duty knees the more I'd like to see the legs repainted into M42 jump trousers with the reinforced knees.

I considered that too. Nice to see others think alike. I decided not to do that because I wouldn't think that anyone in the 92nd Infantry Division would be wearing those jump trousers. But the square knees would make it perfect for that. I think the Bench Press upper legs even had the cargo pockets for it.
Konigstiger:
I think a man in the 92nd coming across a pair of M42s is far more likely than one (or anyone, for that matter) firing an M2 from the hip. Just something to consider.

Haha! True true... Wish I had a .30 cal. That would've worked much better. Anyone know where to get a 1/18 .30 cal.?
neapolitan joe:
Amazing work!
arthurdent:
A beaut as usual. I would DEFINITELY buy this if it was marketed!
Mr Hebime:
Great rendition of Roadblock as a WWII GI. Any other Joes coming from that era?
Superjoe74:
Very nice.

I keep trying to find a Sgt. Savage one. 21st's are either on rare vehicles or an undersized one with a rare late production figure.

Tried getting MGR to do one but they seem more concerned about AK variants.

I've done plenty of WWII joes, check it out:

I might do a few more to clear out the fodder bin.

I'm about to the point where I'll offer a DG Officer for a pair of complete ones with ammo cans.

On second thought the pencil stache fits the fashion of the era better. I was a Marvel comics fan so I guess that makes us mortal enemies. ;)
AMF:
love the look, truly great work. i wish i had skills like you
rip_cord:
This is awesome. Excellent work!
M_renegade:
Just clearing my fodder bin... yeah sure!
(was going to say "my ass" but didn't sounded well)

A perfect combo, and great paint.
Personally, i would have gave him some orange detail, but it's an incredible work, dammit.
