Custom TMNT Boardgame Dio

tmntdio
Your fellow HISS tanker Splintershins made this custom TMNT boardgame dio.

"Here's a look at the project I'm currently working on. It's a totally modular board game based on Ninja Turtles. It has street level and sewer level maps, and will involve racing around the city, trying to stop Shredder from spreading havoc. Anyway, here's an example of one of the maps, the buildings all collapse flat for storage and everything is swappable."

Most everything is scratch-built and hand painted. I'm around 80% complete and busting hump to get this thing done.
Thanks for looking, more pics coming soon!

(I think I'll snap a few with Joes as well...)
Keenan:
Fantastic work on the city!
Kaboomskie:
Nice, more pics with Joes this time
Danney:
holy shit ... thats amazing.

Once its done you better pitch this to the turtle people and the board game people .. someone is bound to buy into this and mass market it .. all you need now is unique and fun game play/rules!
Renegade:
WOW! And could you imagine if you got this sold as a product on the market? What about one for Joes?

Fantastic work there, very impressive
RolandofGilead:
I would so buy those just for Joe and Marvel dios.
FlintWO2:
Dude, that is incredible; awesome work! It makes you feel like you are jumping into the world of the TMNT.
DR.Sin:
That is really cool. Can't wait to see the sewer as well. Is the billboard also switchable because that would be cool as well. How about a pizza sign or maybe a channel 5 sign. Even better yet a pizza store. Anyway I might just have to try something like this as well. Playmates would do well to use this idea. Great for kids and adults.
drew2kew:
Hope the new turtles movie is this cool looking!
Splintershins:
Wow, thanks for all the great feedback!

Here's a sample sewer map:

The "sewage" in the center is really glossy, so in person it looks like water. Again these are all modular pieces for a variety of map possibilities.

A major reason I built this was to use with my Joes as well. Those Alley Vipers need a place to get violent.

Joe picks coming soon...
Angry.Android:
my god...it's full of stars!

this is pure win, i would love to get some scaled .pngs or .pdfs of this and see if i could get it printed up on cardstock. It really speaks to the rpg/minigamer in me.
A.V.A.C.:
Awesome!!!
666Werecat:
You're my new favorite person. Great work on this I truly love it.
samantha:
Very nice. I love the details. You made some impressive Dio's.
USAgent:
that's amazing. looks like total fun! great great job!
manicmotive:
That is truly a work of art. As a dio or a boardgame, it is fantastic.
Tankster:
I did something like this back in the early 90s myself but i made it on a shelf each shelf was a certain level ect. I could totally see something like this scaled down for mass market
ilzuccone:
wow that's cool
TheWilloughbian:
That is a really cool set! I like the comic book feel it has. The rooftop detail really seals the deal. Every time I go back and look at the pics I find a new detail that blows me away.
kuh_rupht:
This is incredible!
Splintershins:
Thanks everyone for your feedback. Those are just six out of the fourteen buildings that I'm working on (9 are finished at the moment.) I'm going to try to snap a few Joe pics this afternoon.
Splintershins:
Here's a few pictures of the map "Warehouse at pier 92" with some Joes instead of turtles...

And here's a picture of the building collapsed for storage:

Thanks! The Mousers are from the 2003 line. There are a couple of sellers on eBay that sell them in bulk.
Tragic Habits:
So when I can I come over and play? Your set ups are awesome.
PinoyinCanada:

Thanks! The prototype is probably a little too unwieldy to get to Canada, but if something more mailable comes out of this, I'd love to enlist your help!

Gatekeeper:
Nice!
Zarana X:
Not sure how the game works, but it's an awesome diorama!
Have you used Future before? With a few drops of Simple Green, it's great for creating the shiny surface of water:
The Complete Future

Also, are you a member of The Technodrome - Krang and Shredder's TMNT Fan Site ?
There is some great TMNT customs on ther forum, they would enjoy this as well.
GI Flow:
Fresh!

I respect the amount of detail you've put into this!
Kaboomskie:
Hey are those paper model building available for download?
DPrime:
Very cool, really works well with the TMNT aesthetic!

I liked the Joe pics too, but you gotta work on your tactical placements. ;)

I have to admit, I thought it was a bit weird that it showed up as "news", but I'm glad it did.
dsrader:
very nice
footloose:
excellent work
malcontentman:
Wow, awesome! You should do a tutorial on how you crafted this stuff.

I don't know if anyone has ever seen Ron Lee Christianson's case modding, projects, but he did a Resident Evil model and it is awe inspiring to say the least. There are tons of parts to the build, but here is one of them:

Biohazard Computer Case Mod Part 13 - YouTube
maradona:
Incredible work.
Luigi1227:
Where did you get those buildings thats awesome i want to make that
Colonel Bludd:
you need to sell the pdf.
Kaboomskie:
Please make it available for download for the unworthy admirers of your masterpiece!
1FormidableJoe:
Man you might want to start making these buildings; and selling them on Ebay! People will eat this up all day! This kind of stuff is missing in the Gi Joe universe (..that is the 4 inch action figure line)! This is epic awesomeness!
tigerclaw:
MY God thats AWESOME!!!!!!
Kaboomskie:
It would be a very merry christmas in the tank if this would be available in .pdf
Bernit69:
Aesome! Those buildings would make a great Joe diorama. Did you make them yourself? Willing to share?
Splintershins:
Thanks everyone, the buildings are scratch-built and hand painted. If I could find a color scanner in the area that is large enough, I'd gladly send along the PDFs. Unfortunately I've tried to find someone who can do oversized color scans for my theater design work and nobody has the equipment to do it anywhere around here...
