What if...

What if Sunbows GI Joe had a little more modern of a design, but still kept the color scheme? What if Sunbow was tapped to animate Resolute for us and we had to put up with blue laws and the like about the appearance of characters? What if Hasbro just saw the need to repaint City Strike SE for us.

I give you my custom What If...Sunbow Resolute Snake-Eyes!

Parts Used:
City Strike Snake-Eyes for 70& of the figure
Snake-Eyes V2 5-Pack 2 torso
Timber from Paris Pursuit SE

Paint Used: All custom mix Model Masters Acrylics and one semigloss aircraft grey straight from the bottle. I used a dark grey wash on the knee pads, shoulder pads and elbow pads only and ti highlight the vents on his mask. Aircraft Black for the belt, sheath and goggle strap.

kingphilbert:

No real FrankenJoe for this one, just the idea and straight to paint.

Bravo Sierra:
Way cool man! He turned out far better than I pictured him being. Great idea and great work!
Tankster:
wow that torso and the rest of it matches so well!!
jllewis80:
I like it. but explain what you mean by blue laws?
TTT:
Front paged
kingphilbert:
Maybe I have the term wrong, it's a set of laws to tone things down that may not be appropriate for kids. Something that would prevent the good guy from being allowed to be "black." The same way in old Marvel comics blood wasn't allowed to be red.

"Why did you take it apart to paint it?" Just kidding! ;)
PitViper:
Well deserved front page man!! I love that figure...its so damn clean looking! I was always partial to that blue SE we see now and again, I actually like the Silent Interlude figure alot!

Your version of CS SE is like pure cartoon bliss....something about that color scheme just makes him look more...super-heroey, which is awesome.
THALASTDRAGON:
excellent work, keep it up
Angry.Android:
Your custom is technically great, just not my cuppa...the paint job looks factory though, very smooth. And i didn't even realize you had swapped out the torso until i read it in the post. I guess i'm just not a fan of the sunbow, toony look for Joe.
crackus:
great work!
Eyes-of-a-Snake:
Thats awesome! I really like the idea behind this. Very thoughtful. Great job with the paint apps too. Very smooth and great detailing/washing use.
bravo:
WOW WOW WOW!!!!! dude this SE rock, job well done my friend .
blayze5150:
Looks good! Paint is real smooth. The color scheme... well.... let's just say I'm glad Sunbow didn't touch this one. It's dead on to what they would have done, though. Kinda like Ninja Boo-Berry.
ecsmith7:
Blue > Black any day! Awesome paint job.
goldendeedsofman:
the sad part is I would buy it. lol!
GhostGL:
Looks sweet. Like this one colors better then the one that other guy did (forget name right now) but had orange etc.
Tanksmasher:
Wow that looks pretty cool. I like the color.
kingphilbert:
Thanks everyone! He was an idea I had from the start after seeing the head that was so reminiscent of the old Commando SE. I knew it had to be done. I just needed time to find another CS SE at retail. I know the colors won't please everyone, but it's all about the throwback to the original animated SE. I actually had a Sunbow SE planned a year back and passed on it. I thought this would be a lot of fun and I can see a lot of you are down with it.

You mean the V4 repaints with the orange weapons? I dig that one too. The mold fits perfect and the one or two we've seen here so far were great! The orange weapons on those were a play on the old atrocious colors too. CallMeChuckles had a real nice looking one: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...echuckles.html

VidMouse did one more accurate with head and vest: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...nake-eyes.html
The BLAY:
this is coming out when?!

lol

great job man!
RECON_09:
Cool Snake Eyes, I have the city strike Snake Eyes as well. I hate how they keep using the same body parts for all the JOEs! Do you realize how annoying it would be to have cargo pockets on the front of your pants??? I also have obtained Jungle Strike Ripcord.
sonoftimmy:
Wow that is beautiful...I am in awe.
Jettfire:
This is great. What a cool idea for a custom. The paint application is flawless.
xhairs:
cool.
Bravo Sierra:
Each time I look at this figure, I like it even more!!!!

Well, I plan on doing a V4 as you did, though I'll add my touches and alter a few things. Do the same with this and see what happens.
Tankster:
awsome i knew this deserved front page!!

Sunbow flava with a resolute thrill, top notch! You get the mad props on your creative style sire.
State Trooper:
looks awesome! Think these colors blend better than the Resolute figure's does!
DJ Radio Raheem:
great paint application!!!
HydroMan:
How do you get those parts apart without breaking them?

HA! Sorry. Inside thing. But for real here.
http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...st-method.html
It's just that we both split his torso and destroyed our figs. For some reason CS SE has soft plastic that bends up and break when you split the torso! to ge the joints apart, use heat from a blowdryer or something to make the plastic malliable, then simply pull apart!
Joecom:
Wow absolutely amazing
steve2477:
Awesome custom.
footloose:
ill trade ya an unopen city strike SE for that one

I had to use a brand Xacto and cut into the seem under the armpits to do mine. I ruined a torso flexing the chest as well as broke an arm swivel ring. Yeah, the shoulder plastic is soft and you can crack or squish the rings.
