Custom Cobra Stellar Stiletto Crossover

redrocker
Your fellow HISS tanker TheWilloughbian made this custom Cobra Stellar Stiletto crossover, The Red Rocker !

" I have been wanting to do a Stellar Stiletto since I first got into custom toys and I am very pleased with it and very excited to share. I debated a long time about colors and decided the the guy who designed it in the first place knew what he was doing. It's such a great mold. The details are just awesome. I had a fun time painting them all."

I finally got it done. I have been wanting to do a Stellar Stiletto since I first got into custom toys and I am very pleased with it and very excited to share. I debated a long time about colors and decided the the guy who designed it in the first place knew what he was doing. It's such a great mold. The details are just awesome. I had a fun time painting them all.

I hope you like it.

galactron22:
Cool, the gold makes it look like something out of Flash Gordon A+++.
esg2145:
...........and here I was expecting Sammy Hagar?

and I can say, without hyperbole, that what you got was 1,000,000,000,000x better.
Tankster:
Damn!! makes me want one of those Bastards!!! such smooth painting it does feel like it was created with references to the 40s and 50s Sci-Fi genera
mrfu:
AWESOME work. I love it!
IIIzoeIII:
very nice, never noticed how well that was sculpted till now
looks very retro
TheWilloughbian:
Thanks, fellows. I'm really glad the retro Sci-Fi vibe came through. I figured a good retro spaceship needed two things. Lots of fire power and lots of chrome.

I know that I often speak ill of Tamiya paints, but, I love what happens when you hit their flat red with a black wipe and buff it to a gloss. You can really work some cool finishes with Tamiya. I just wish it didn't chip so easy. It also takes 3-4 months to cure fully. It's kind of neat to see how the color deepens as it does cure, though.

Thanks for the comments.
Snow Wolf:
Nice job!!
figureware:
thats Great!
lance858a:
It's gorgeous! The style fits so well with your pilot, like vintage scifi, very artsy! Great job on the paint, it really brings out the details on the mold!

Testors makes acrylic modeling paint for military RC vehicles too. The RC paint is much more durable. You can get them online. Try it, this stuff almost never chips.

I'm always surprised at how detailed these toys were but were "covered up" by colored plastic. I was thinking about doing something similar to the Cobra Mamba because it's just as detailed but virtually invisible with the purple plastic.

The mamba would be a neat one to geek out on. Lots of fun little details on that.

I'm thinking it would be fun to paint a BUGG. Another one that has some cool detail is the Valor vs Venom Night Adder.

sonoftimmy:
Very cool and very Flash Gordon!

Great Fig, Great ship! I also had the theme from Flash Gordon going through my head when I saw this.
TheWilloughbian:
Thanks for the comments, Fellows. I confess I was singing Queen's Flash Gordon soundtrack while I painted this.

I thought this was going to be a custom 3 3/4" Sammy Hagar figure!! haha
arthurdent:
Okay!... Now you got the ship, the figure, my scale model computer if you want it, and now all you'd need is a base of some kind and a villian to oppose her... basically a Ming to her Flash Gordon.

Wow that is some awesome work. I was just looking at mine the other week wondering what to do with it. Although the BUGG idea would be awesome. I always thought it was a weird color scheme even though I like green. May have to break out that one to play with.
neapolitan joe:
Awesome work!
lance858a:
About time! Nice work again dude. Loving this retro style of yours.
