OMG!!! Wow I would have killed to get those Maulers
the Scream Man:
yeah i really want decent joe Tank, it's something they severely lack in the newer stuff. Cobra has the fury and the Hiss V5 and the Joes have.... a Humvee? they need some armor!!

the Howler looks brilliant, and I'd have grabbed it in a second. I'm a huge fan of troop carriers and even a smaller one would have been pretty cool.
WildWeaselZ06:
Im woundering if there's any way that that we could get hasbro t invest in getting the mauler molds repaired. Maybe through a pre-order deal thru HTS. If enough of us demonstrated a desire and a financial obligation to Hasbro, would they be willing to get the mauler molds repaired and put into production.
TheSerpentKing:
I really hope Hasbro releases the IG's. Them and even Destro is really cool looking despite being repaints and kit bashes.

Screaming Eagle pilot is Barrel Roll.
Trooper13:
Wow, that Mobile Command Center is a million times more badass then the PIT. Those 12" Joes are cool. Especially the AT vs Grizzly. The IG 5 pack is the real shame here, though. That should have came out.
cobracommanderiv:
I really liked the concept art for the Tomahawk. Also Ron Rudats Pythona drawings, interesting to see they considered making a figure, must have been prior to the movie as a 'consort' to Serpentor? One image looks like a female version of him.
Grippen:
I have that Sigma 6 Jet the exact version of the photo since they showed photos in a con a few years ago with some other color scheme. The jet is awesome and so is the mini figure I wish I had 2 of them. Only now I know the name of it

Right after they showed the pic, they stated that the molds were destroyed in the Great Mold Purge. Then someone shouted 'Skystriker'... meaning, I assume, that Hasbro could cut new molds for it. They chuckled, that was about it.
Mech-Viper:
thanks Hasbro for saving me money, but some of that stuff would have been sweet

Bummer! I never turn down a new Ace figure. The one with the Skystriker looks really sweet though.
r3v3n63:
I would have been disappointed in the Howler just like I am disappointed in the Black Dragon and that is scale; if you can't make a troop transport that transports troops as depicted in the show the design is taking from then why bother?
They did manage to use the VTOL engines for the Ghost Hawk though.
Not sure if anyone noticed but it looks like the POC Phantom X90's rear was from the unreleased Sigma 6 Screaming Eagle jet. The front fuselage was scrapped and replaced with a new design for the 3 3/4" figs.
OOOP! Shin noticed that, so never mind.
Troynos:
The guys that saw the Howler said it could hold figures standing up, so it works as a troop transport.

Scale is always going to be an issue. Most of the vehicles aren't true 1:18th scale. Getting a true 1:18th scale Joe vehicle would be pricey and HUGE.

I wonder just how many figs, if the pilot standing next to it is an accurate depiction of scale I'd be surprised if you could get very many inside.
Yeah, scale. I'm not asking for totally accurate size, if that were the case I think the Flagg would have been 60+ feet? But at least SOME effort be made. The Jets were shown to be pretty big vehicles and made for moving more then just the pilot and 2 guys. I know it's not the designers fault, he's got parameters he has to work within. It's the guys who lay down those parameters that bug me.

It's been stated that the pilot is not to scale.

Well then, I am now interested. I guess we will see what goes on with the new Joe movie and if this gets released then.
OSOK:
i want the rocket/howler thing, thats bad ass
godbomber:
The Mauler mold was broken, why would they make protos of it for the ROC line?
iron777:
Man their was some cool stuff that didn't get produced . I would love to see the following top 5 :
1.AT Kodiak Attack - I wish line had not been cancelled.
2.Cobra shedder tank- that looks sweet , even the blue Mauler would have been cool.
3.40th anniversary Green Beret - are you serious who wouldn't want to have a remake of the legendary GIJoe Green Beret.
4.Howler - looks like a cool concept fighter and a troop carrier on top of that , cool idea.
5. Cobra Bugg - I would love for Hasbro to remake the Bugg, it always has alot of play value .

Chances are it's just a repainted vintage one. They did the same thing for the initial shots of the upcoming Skystriker.

Take a look at all the SDCC Skystriker images, it's a repainted vintage one.

Main body holds 4 figures, cockpit might seat 2, either the cockpit opens at a hinge aft of the canopy or splits in 2 down the middle. If it's the latter and seats 2 figures, it's bigger than I thought.
RolandofGilead:
Ok, I'm making my own IG set at this point. I have a couple extra Resolute Cobra Commanders to turn into IG guards much like the ones shown, but where did the full skirted versions come from? Is that Arctic CC?

Resolute Destro?
Xenos:
I think one is arctic CC and one is Resolute Destro, but I could be wrong. It's tought to say for sure from the blurry pic.
RolandofGilead:
Damn, I don't have either of those figures.

And it'll cost ya a pretty penny to get enough to make the box set, lol
RolandofGilead:
I think I'll stick with the easy IG and Resolute CC headswap. I just need to find an extra comic pack Beach Head head for my IG Commander.

Yes, but not much larger, right? Still grossly undersized.

I realize Joe vehicles are usually not true 1/18 scale - the old classic Skystriker, and pretty much anything else was undersized, but it worked visually. The Howler would have to be about as big as a Tomahawk, at least, to work imo. I wouldn't have bought it.

Cobra PIT/Missile Base though? Definitely.

They had a Howler at last year's Con tour of Hasbro and the people there said it was the size of the Tomahawk.

Yeah. That missile base is wicked.

The reason why the older vehicles worked is because though they were all out of scale(most o them) to the figures, they weren't out of proportion. For example, the Night Raven, if no one told you was a 3-3/4" jet, no one would know. There is nothing apparent until you open up the cockpit. Same goes for the Sky Striker, Conquest, Phantom X-19, et al. The same cannot go for the VVV Thunderwing which had tiny wings and a big body, whereas the F-22 in real life does not.

This is why the True Heroes F-22 seems more like an ARAH GI Joe item to me than the VVV Thunderwing.
Nightrain:
That Cobra base is exactly what I want them to make right now. Something big that launches a weapon of mass destruction.
Troynos:
The thing I don't like about the missile base is the front end when it's rotated...

The cage sticking up like that looks bad.

I love the HISS Transport though. That is bad-ass.
Snow Job:
Only thing I'd change about that Cobra Command Center is the number of guns and missiles! For a base, it sure is lacking in the department. A couple of turrets and a large missile....I don't see that being hard to take down! lol Heck, the BUGG has more armament than that does.

Well, a missile that size won't be on the battlefield, so I can understand why it wouldn't need much defense. I always thought it was weird that the Rolling Thunder had a cannon to be honest.

Same, but I always figured it was a long gun like the Thunderclap. The Rolling Thunder would be miles away from the actual battle and the cannon could have the distance.
WeaponXIII:
I really don't wanna sound like a jerk, but what's the point in them showing us all the awesome stuff we're never getting because of their terrible vehicle sales due to poor product distribution?
the Scream Man:
I dont think that's the only reason for poor ales. A lot of people wait for the cheap sales, which doesnt help Hasbro out as much as a main retailer would.
WeaponXIII:
Who knows, you may be right, but we'll never know if that's the case since no one in Florida saw the Rage or the V.A.M.P. until it came out at Ross where sure; we may have bought more than we would've at regular price but we certainly would've bought them at regular price...but we never got that option!

I just got a hold of an image of the Steel Brigade 5 pack from my friend... yeah it's not great but it gives you some idea of what it would have looked like... I would love to see this get released.

SonOfMindbender:
If that Cobra Command Center came out before the pit...there wouldn't be so many on closeout. What a killer item!!
thealleyviper:
What a shame. I would have LOVED that S6 stuff. Even though I like the Hammerhead, the concept looks better than the production model.

Here's hoping for the X90 and Screaming Eagle.

That is Updraft. The guy that designed the Howler is a former(and pretty well-known) GIJoe designer that has moved on to another brand of Hasbro product. I hadn't spoke to him for a while and finally caught up with him the other night and asked him who the pilot was and he told me that they had settled on Updraft as the pilot's name after going through quite a few other names, which I can't remember now.

That is awesome. Hell of an update on Updraft, and would've been a fitting vehicle too. I want the Howler more now.
minstrelboy:
This stuff is just so amazing. So much greatness that we could have had; it's baffling how these got shelved. I know that costing factors are the culprit most of the time, but there is enough here that could be put out at retail to keep us on the 'Tank happy for an entire year.
