| More Details On SDCC Exclusive Sgt Slaughter And High Resolution Images | | Posted on 03-11-2010 at 08:40 PM by Shin Densetsu | | | HISS Tank has received further information on the upcoming Sgt Slaughter figure which is an exclusive for SDCC this year:
There are going to be two different versions of the Sgt. Slaughter 3.75-inch figure – a primary figure (PF) and variant figure (VF), sold separately.
Re: accessories, both the PF and VF will come with a whistle and a non-removable hat. The PF also comes with a weight belt, baton, and microphone; the VF also comes with a machine gun and revolver.
There is the potential for the PF and VF to be sold online at HasbroToyShop.com following SDCC, but that is not guaranteed based on the “special edition” nature of the PF and the “special SPECIAL edition” nature of the VF.
Pricing is TBA.
As announced at New York Toy Fair: Sgt. Slaughter himself will be present at the Hasbro booth at SDCC (date/time TBA).

I going to pick this one up, good thing i'm going to the sdcc. Shogi: I think I may get two....for custom work :(
Sadly, the Copperhead torso would have been better than making an all new torso that just seems to lack any and all detail Alyosha: Dig it! (and here's why)....
The Sarge was always a big guy, with a bit of a belly (and more so later in his career), but he was never that muscularly defined and this figure depicts that pretty well. I prefer the wrestling version over the one with the ROC movie legs, but both are pretty nice. Smooth sculpt, crisp details (boots and belts especially) and specific/correct accessories for each version. Really nice work H-bro. mswi: not digging the torsos, but I'd still like to get my hands on both versions. wish i was going to the con. Have to try my luck on E-bay polyphenus: Gotta admit that I'm disappointed by the look of these figures... Guess I won't be too upset if I don't get them. CobraCrimson: looks like his wrists have articulation now too? I don't know, something says this is a custom job but might be the proto for the SDCC item since there is the pins in the shoulder joints like the protos shown last year for the supposed 2010 PoC figures had. Looks like the inner thigh screws are black as well? mswi: actually looking at the variant, it looks like his torso is the same length as hiss legs???? RedEyes: Quote:

Either way, I'll be getting both versions for sure. GI abe444: Oh Damn i love that ! i got get him! NSP: As I posted last month.....there will be a variant version as well. erwiny: Thanks for posting the link MTN!
The figure seems underwhelming to me thus far.
I was expecting "more".
The head sculpt is very serviceable, as a cartoon Sarge head. I'm not too giddy about the body used.
After the Sarge BnB custom most of us 'Tankers have done, I was wanting Hasbro to REALLY hit this figure out of the park.
But then again, if Hasbro did just rehash the custom we've done we'd probably be bitching anyway. Sunbow_Joe84: well I'll be getting both versions anyway. I've been obsessing for an official hasbro release ever since we hit the 25th anniv. Mandingo Rex: Blarg, not what I was hoping for.
I will say, and you can quote me on it, that I was wrong on their torso and parts use. I would have bet my collection that he would have just gotten a new head and gear, but a whole new torso?
Are the variant legs new or are those (camo ones) from a previous figure?
Proportions are all wrong, though. Especially the cartoon look with the camo pants. Those legs are way too short, and Sarge should be bulkier. His body is just a trunk with no shape to it.
I will say, they surprised me by doing the torso. But I am not very impressed with the whistle or the head even. I really think a head with removable hat would have been better, and for them to reuse the RB torso and not have to sculpt a torso.
I've been wanting this figure for 3 years now in 25th articulation—an official one—and I'm sadly disappointed. tuan_tran73: OK! hopefully his head is compatible with Copperhead's body. artiepants: wow, that's pretty bad. Sorry Sarge fans. Firebomber8: Id stick the head on a benchpress body and call it cooler Troynos: Cool. Not digging the body but the head ROCKS!! JR0d28: Id want one if this one is the reg run and not variant, considering he looks like WWE version. I guess McMahon decided not to be a prick and let Slaughter get released. DOC: Looks like the sarge to me arashikage tat: Quote:

That's exactly what I'm thinking as well!!! I do like the headsculpt because to me it looks pretty spot on with the original but the black tanktop variant is kind of a let down which sucks. I didn't think I'd be able to say this, but I'm honestly happier with my BP/Sarge version. I just may switch the heads though if it works Nirvana: Quote:

I'll get both versions, but I'd have prefered a Copperhead body. Fast_Draw: Cool. I hope I can get at least one of them. Ideally both, but we'll see I suppose. Shogi: Quote:

I rarely do this, but I'm playing my Nerd Anger card
Really? They paid for all new tooling (Which costs tens of thousands of dollars typically) and made that torso!? I understand the idea of real life sarge having a barrel chest, but adding no detail at all into the sculpt? It looks like they took a small version of Shocker's Scud the disposable assassin figure and added news arms, legs and a head to it. No human's chest is smooth like that, especially with a shirt over it. Sarge is supposed to have some muscles right? Even if they want to make him a fat figure, shouldn't there be some sort of definition somewhere in this torso rather than some pillsbury doughboy....wait, I take that back, even the doughboy would have details molded on unlike this PVC pipe of a torso with the "broken spirit" slumped shoulders.
Rant Over
I do like the wrestler legs, they'll look great with the Copperhead torso that came with the Res Gung-Ho (It even has a green shirt already ) JR0d28: Don't care which I get I would be happy w/ either one. arashikage tat: I hate to say this but something about the torso just makes it look like his man tits are just gonna spill out of the top xhairs: Quote:

if any one can help me out on this please let me know as i know i wont be able to go to the con 1SGHauser: Here's a figure I'll probably be dropping big bucks for on eBay. Assuming I don't get to go to SDCC this year. Nirvana: Quote:

Been waiting to see this come out. About time to. Thanks Hasbro. Rock n Roll. t34bag: GOOD: we get a Sgt. Slaughter fig awesome
BAD: Slaughter was the strongest of all the Joe's, so why does he look like he's got a flabby body and a very non-hetero looking tank-top? I mean really it's cut so low it makes him look like he's got man-boobs. and the "USA" goes on his chest not his stomach. CdtWeasel: Figures the more limited figure is the one I prefer. Foolproof: What's with the body sculpt? Is this a figure of the current-day, flabby, out-of-shape Sarge? butter_the_pure: My gosh he looks silly. I wanted a figure based off of The Sgt. Slaughter character, not the real life wrestler with a gun, wtf! juxtaposed!
A HUGE let down! goldendeedsofman: Yeah I was excited at first but now not so much. I still like the first slaughter but the 2nd version looks like butter to me. darth_henning: I may have missed it, but has anyone else noticed that this version:
Has ball-jointed wrists?
(look at the right hand) titanate: Genuinely liking the look of BOTH of these figures. Does anyone that's going to SDCC think they can help me out??? I won't be going. arashikage tat: Quote:

I caught that too...and even with the black tanktop version I don't know why he has gloves...just not feeling that darth_henning: Quote:

I'll probably wind up droping a fair amount for both on E-bay after the con. Ixz72: Quote:

I like this because it is more accurate to the real life Sarge. Imperial_Ozma: You know what for all the complaining about the sclupt, I think we should just feel lucky we're finally getting an official Sarge sculpt and that they put serious efforts into it...
I want to get doubles of both versions. arashikage tat: Quote:

what's funny is that for as much as I'm nitpicking about it, I know I will probably still drop a little coin to get them both as well RolandofGilead: I usually just get one of the SDCC sets (I never seem to find the variant) off Hasbro's site to keep MoC. This year I'll be trying for two because the Sarge just screams to be opened. | All times are GMT -4. The time now is 01:06 PM. | | Cool Stuff | | |
