I was there with the intention of picking up some 25th BATS, but there wasn't any there under 15 bucks!
I even saw a 25th Shipwreck, non-variant for $25! Ridiculous.
Anyway one vendor was reasonable and I walked out with 4 red fiss drivers, 2 Python officers, 1 crimson guard, 3 stinger drivers, 3 dvd pack cobra troopers, and 1 red sigil trooper for 85$ rob0213: Wow. I was thinking about going. Kinda glad I didn't spend the dough now. Anything cool happen? Paraflare: Quote:

To be fair, there were deals to be had on vintage stuff, but the 25th stuff was pretty scalpariffic. rob0213: That sucks. Guess I will have to wait till JoeCon. Frakk_mirror: Just got back. It was ok but it could be renamed to Canadian Scalpathon.

Hey c'mon now it wasn't that bad i think you are seriously exaggerating things ,it was a great day for me *smile* i bought a total of 26 vintage gi joe figures ,half were of 84 and 85's complete sets C-8 average for $5.00 each ,i also got three Battlestar Galactica figs for $10.00 and a four Batman figure set "through the ages" for $20.00 ,i saved alot of money compared to buying off of scalper toysites and frakkin' Ebay *shudder* ,yes there was some stuff priced a bit too high ,the answer is simple "don't buy from them" there were plenty of vendors who were reasonable and would even make trades ,you just had to make the rounds a few times to find the best deal ?
I am very happy it was a great day for me i bought alot of stuff for next to nothing ,if you haggle a little bit they will negoiate (sp?)
I'm sorry it was a disappointment for you ,i went there not expecting too much and hoped for the best ,that's the way these things are a hit or miss ? Paraflare: Quote:

Even after some negotiating, prices were still above ebay levels on most items.
On to Joe Con 09. Frakk_mirror: Even after some negotiating, prices were still above ebay levels on most items.

I'm sorry but i'll have to strongly disagree with you ,there is no way i could ever get a vintage C-8 complete 84' Scrap iron/Spirit for $5.00 ,or BSG at the prices if i would bid on Ebay not a chance .
I turned a down a Ralph Mc Quarrie R2 D2 and C3P0 because i thought one guy wanted a bit too much for it ,so you win some you loose some ,i got my photos with the guys dressed up in Star wars costumes that was pretty cool ,overall i had a great time and a good hual for the loot i got . Frakk_mirror: but for 25th it was absolutely ridiculous

Yes i will agree some of the new stuff was a bit pricey ,but the 25 th anniversary stuff is available just about everywhere so you have alot of places to choose from to buy it .
The new joe figs are in demand ,the vintage are not so much any more so that is why i probably had a easier time finding deals .
I'm not really into the new joe figs ,some of them look pretty bad so i completly ignored that stuff . Paraflare: Quote:

I said there were good vintage deals to be had. My comments in regards to the insane prices are regarding the 25th stuff only, which is what I was after.
I'm glad you found some good deals. I also walked out with some reasonable deals. Frakk_mirror: Go back and re-read what i wrote ,i said that disagreed with you comparing the show to Ebay ,as i mentioned earlier i could not get about 40 + figures off of Ebay in mint ,or near mint condition for roughly $140.00 ,i know you feel a bit bitter because you saw alot of vendors mark up the 25th anniversary collection ,all i can say is i hope you have better luck next time . | All times are GMT -4.
