In a way I was hoping that GIT Corp. would get them and put them on DVD (as they have with other Marvel collections) but didn't notice that Marvel ended their relationship with GIT and started their own Digital Comics site. Shortfuse: I take it this means that IDW is going to pick up where Marvel left off and disregard the Devil's Due run. Not a bad plan. Lady Jaye won't be so dead anymore. Not to mention tons of other Joes that DD axed in their run: Mainframe, Flash, Rampart...etc... Shin Densetsu: Quote: |

Gaelinic: Does this mean that Target stores will have these trades for sale? RUNAMUCK: Thanks for the heads up Snake Eyes. I never read a single G.I. Joe comic, except for the ones that came in the two packs. I fell in love with the 80's Cartoons and the toys from the 80's I pretty much phased out of my Joe's back in 89. Now I find myself tryin to catch up on wikpedia, cause this new 25th line reinvigorated my love for Cobras and Joes, Hell I didn't know about Fred till the two packs and then the Commander had a SON! WTF....so this makes perfect sense for me to spend 32 bucks ta find out for the first time how everything unfolds. I can't wait. Scoop: Quote:

Many store's websites do not reflect what their actual stores carry and they sometimes are connected with other stores as well. I found this to be true with sporting goods stores like Dick's, Modell's, and Sports Authority. They are all separate stores which I think are not affiliated, but for some reason they have the same exact stock on each of their websites. Very strange. vengecore: 10 issues in each volume, And I need VOL 3! This is great news cuz the original 2002 volumes go for around $50-$100 these days on Amazon and Ebay.
I just hope they release the other 3 volumes! Gaelinic: Quote:

I just hope they release the other 3 volumes! | I was at the Transformers/GI Joe IDW panel in SDCC and asked them two questions. First, will the new GI Joe comic be several mini-series or an ongoing series? Larry Hama answered ongoing series.
Second, how far into the GI Joe Marvel line will they they publish? The editor answered with a question. "Well, how many of you would like to see all of them in TPBs?" There was a low applause since the panel was really only advertised as a Transformers panel in the SDCC guide. I only learned about it by getting a signature from Larry and he told me to attend the panel. It really had no advertisement. Anyway, the editor responds to the applause with, "Well, then, I guess we'll have to publish all of them."
I didn't take his answer as a definite yes. But, it definitely showed that IDW will be producing a lot more in TPB than Marvel did. They probably want to gauge the success of the line before going to far into the line like any comic company. However, Marvel gauges success on a much grander scale than IDW would. So, I'm guessing that IDW would produce more books based on a smaller success rate than Marvel ever would.
I'm basing that conclusion on Marvel's foray into roleplaying games. They produced a pen-and-paper RPG a few years ago. The main book went through 3 or 4 printings because it was selling out everywhere. But, Marvel killed the line three books into it because Marvel wanted it to sell as much as their comic books did. When that failed, they looked at Dungeons and Dragons and wanted to sell as many copies as that did (about 100,000 copies). And no RPG sells as much as D&D. So, when the numbers came in at half that rate, they called it a failure and bowed out. This was information obtained by one of the creators of the Marvel Universe RPG.
A smaller RPG company that produced a superhero game called Godlike called their game a success after selling about 5,000 copies.
By comparison, I'm thinking IDW will consider the reproduction a success with much smaller numbers than Marvel would.
Gaelinic Dake: Just pre-ordered mine. Same price plus free shipping from Amazon - hard to beat! vengecore: Quote:

Gaelinic | So i guess its safe to imply that they may go further then the first 50 issues that Marvel did!? That's exciting. I have loved reading the first 20. I was 3 when they original issues premiered so i never really red the comics and just stayed with the Toon. I highly recommend the series and Applaud IDW for taking the Original Comics to the masses once again. Dakion: On Amazon, did you see the release dates?
TPB Vol. 1 - January 29, 2009
TPB Vol. 2 - March 29, 2009 jbowman: ordered a set from amazon for the free shipping.. looks like they dont ship until 09 thornaday3: Preordered mine...release date is not until 09. Kind of bummed about that but at least I know I will be getting them...eventually. Can someone answer this question: will my credit card get charged now or when they get released? Hit & Run: Quote:

Can someone answer this question: will my credit card get charged now or when they get released? | For pre-orders and back-ordered items, Amazon always charges my card when the item ships. Tunnel Rat: i got mine on preorder. i cant wait for these things, they are going to rock evebird: TPBs FTW!!
This is exciting news. I really hope they do the whole series through 155. But honestly, anything past 50 will be nice. At least get through the Cobra Civil War and Snake-Eyes origin.
I hate reading individual comic books. They're a pain to store, you have to take them in and out of plastic sleeves, worry about keeping them nice, etc. TPBs are so much more convenient. And we won't have to spend $500-600 for a complete comic collection. Can't wait. XVoodooDollX: If these are anything like the comic packs which are re-covers of old stuff. I will pass, like the vintage star wars figures... they may be classic but whoah nelly, they are hard on my eyes. lol Da Boz & Shipwreck: That's pretty cool they're re-releasing them in this format, I've been longing to read them for quite awhile now. I keep reminding myself to try to get a lot off eBay, but then I'm like...ehhh, i don't want it THAT badly. So, hopefully this'll take care of that. verzeihen: How does the Americas elite tie into the marvel series? Or does it?
and is this a Devil's due publishing?
Never mine you guys i looked it up.
marvels orginal series I will readf frist. and then what ever IDW starts. RBPRX1204: I ended up picking up Marvel's TPB's just weeks before they announced the republishing. I'm just interested to see if they print the Yearbooks in any of the TBP's, and as someone else said, I'd love to get anything past issue 50. It would also be nice if they would print a TBP for Special Missions. Xerofall: They did do a TPB for the Special Missions, but only issues 1-5.
I wonder if they're going to stop with issue 50 like the Marvel ones did?
I have all 5 volumes of the Marvel TPBs. Are they worth anything? I read in previous posts they go on eBay for $50-100 each? Is that right?
PS... I also have them all digital, and I mean ALL of them. PM me for more info. RBPRX1204: Quote:

PS... I also have them all digital, and I mean ALL of them. PM me for more info. | I picked up Vol 1-3 at a comic book store for face value, around I think $20 a piece. Vol 4 and 5, I had to search for, and ended up paying about $50 each when all was said and done. Acrizer: I am so looking forward to these. When the Order of Battle came out and added Rocky Balboa, even the kid in me was so friggin' disappointed with the way Joe was jumping the Sharc, that I traded my complete run (up until that point) to a local comic shop. While I got a pretty penny for them, I have regretted it ever since.
Rocky... ugh. statesofeuphoria: Quote:

I have preordered books and DVDs from them before just to have them send me a notice saying " unfortunately the item you ordered is currently unavailable!" so don't count on Amazon. Walmart, Target, and Overstock always do this S#$T!! ( besides Joes, I collect guitars and books, I have passes on books before because I though my Amazon preorders were good, then to find out too late that Amazon will not be offering them!) | All times are GMT -4.
