G.I. Joe Cobra II #1 follows up on the critically acclaimed, G.I. Joe Cobra series from last year. The same team from last year(Mike Costa/Christos Gage on writing chores, Antonio Fuso on art) has returned with the venerable Howard Chaykin providing covers once again. Consistency is great, as nothing sticks out. Lovern Kindzierski does a great job of utilizing more textures with the color applications; yet applying them subtly.
This series is the currently the most highly anticipated G.I. Joe sequel. So of course the question is, how did the 1st issue turn out?
G.I. Joe Cobra II #1 does not disappoint, at all. This issue is full of revelations, twists, and turns. When IDW announced that fan-favorite Cobra characters would debut, they weren't lying! One or possibly even two, debut in this issue! Yet the debuts are not limited to Cobra...
Now the question everyone is wondering right now, is if Jinx is the girl from the preview. Simply put, I don't know. That's for all of us to find out as this series continues. Yet it leaves me intrigued. Could G.I. Joe code names be shared? Speaking of this issue, can Cobra names be shared? I'll just say this; if that woman ends up being Jinx, it's more in line with how us Joe fans traditionally picture her, and how she's been depicted in the past.
G.I. Joe Cobra II #1 kicks off with a stunning and shockingly great start. It leaves me very excited for the next issue. I love how the new Cobra character(s) are introduced. I also like how the woman in the preview has not only us asking questions, but Chuckles too! Gage and Costa have written this series to the point where we feel like we are right beside Chuckles, experiencing what he goes through. Is it worth picking up? YES!
The great thing about G.I. Joe Cobra II #1, is that you don't have to read the prior series to know what's going on here. Don't get me wrong, I definitely recommend reading the 1st series, if you don't you're honestly missing out. This series is great for new readers, and a good starting point for G.I. Joe comics. If this is any indication of what IDW has in store for us for the rest of the year, 2010 is going to kick ass.

Baroness and Erika Le Tene might be different characters, possibly twins. Either that or Baroness has multiple personality disorder. I think the former is true. Why? If Erika dies(remember Chuckles had a relationship with her in the 1st Cobra series), it will provide another catalyst for him later on in the series. Another reason I bring this up is because it might be a neat homage to the toyline.
Back in 2000, possibly due to legal rights, Hasbro released a Baroness figure in a 2 pack but did not call her Baroness. She was called Chameleon and on the file card, was said to be the legitimate half sister of the Baroness.

This is the best explanation I have read or seen so far. The comic almost wants you to beleive there are possibly Three sets of twins. I had to re-read the comic twice to try and better understand what was going on. Can't wait till the next comic!!!

Love Croc Master. Very creepy and scary as hell.
Love the Erica character. There's no split personality. Xamot sees the Baroness leave well he's talking with Erica.
Hawk getting a Jinx look alike, possibly a new Jinx, just to be the catalyst for Chuckles (and I pegged that in another therad, lol) is great. Shows what a bad ass he is. He doesn't care about anything but getting the job done.
