The suspense continues in G.I. Joe Cobra II #2! Last we saw Chuckles, he was in jail and caught in deja vu! Also, why was he in jail?
We find the answer to that in this issue. In the last series, it seemed that Chuckles preserved his humanity and ideals which made him different than General Hawk, yet whatever it takes for the greater good, even if what he does isn't necessarily good, is necessary. "Everything for the plan". Are Chuckles and General Hawk more alike than we thought?
Chuckles has grown as a character. In the last series we find him as a naive operative going into a volatile, unpredictable environment. Here we see him as swiftly efficient operative who remains calm in the most tense situations. One who is swift, yet unpredictable. What we witness here is Chameleon being in the same role Chuckles was in before; the naive operative.
As most of you know from the interview with the creative team at USA Today, Crystal Ball debuts in this issue! His appearance is short, but worthwhile. Like Croc Master from issue #1, he comes off as a very dangerous individual. Now I've always looked upon the original Crystal Ball as a joke. This new version is anything but.
This issue had my on my toes so to speak, as everything that happens has no foreshadowing. It truly is a tale where there is a twist in every turn, and you never know what will happen next. This makes for a very exciting read, and I have no idea what Gage and Costa have in store next. Speaking of which, what is Xamot planning? As we know from the G.I. Joe Cobra Special, Xamot's outlook on life has changed, and he currently presents himself as a wild card. I am very interested to see what direction the writers have planned for him.
This issue continues the same mix of espionage, suspense, and unpredictability that we have loved since the first series debuted. You literally have something new for you each time. With that said, this is a very entertaining title and this issue is worth picking up. I get the sense that Cobra is much more powerful than hinted at before, because in each issue so far, we have only had a taste of what they are capable of. Croc Master, then Crystal Ball, who will turn up next(aside Serpentor and Cobra Commander, which was revealed in the USA Today post)? Could stealthy operatives, fitting for this storyline, like Storm Shadow and Firefly turn up next?
In any case I enjoyed this issue a great deal, and continue to look forward to more with high anticipation!

Miami, FL got them in today. Great read...im just a bit confused on the whole Jinx/Chameleon, Erica ordeal...isnt Chameleon supposed to be the Baroness (but couldnt be named Baroness because of rights)...or are they expanding the mythos by saying Baroness has a sister, Erica...who will eventually become Chameleon?...or not...eh...and another thing...where the hell is Spirit in this series???? He is the backbone of the Joe team...the "Jean Grey" of the Joes.

This book is legend. I can't wait to get it in my hands. Thanks for the great review, as if I wasn't impatient enough, right? This book is the best Joe ever, and that's coming from someone who read the first 5 years of the Marvel run, and never missed an issue.

This comic did arrive in Columbia,South Carolina yesterday but the comic book store I go to usually doesn't put them on the shelf until the afternoon because of "inventory issues" they tell me. I did pick it up last night on the way home from work. Yet another great read in this line. I can only hope that everyone continues to read this series and one day Hasbro will make figures off of this series. I know its a fantasy but who wouldn't want a new Chuckles,Jinx, Tomax, Xamat,Chameleon, Cystal Ball, Croc Master etc.
