Covergirl and crew invade Castle Destro but meet a huge robotic entity within! Castle Destro might seem empty but full of precautions, as it's no cakewalk for the Joes! Meanwhile Destro finds himself aboard a new, huge Cobra vessel! Snake Eyes and Mainframe visit a town called Springfield where life is seemingly ordinary......
This issue shows the Joes trying to find out what exactly happened at Castle Destro. It starts off with some intense action. We get to see Cover Girl in which is good because she was introduced a few issues back and is a fan-favorite. Unfortunately, 2 of her comrades(relatively new to the team) are killed
There is significantly more action in this issue than in the issue featuring Scarlett's court martial. There is also a lot of espionage and mystery. It's a pleasant mix with the pace starting quick in the beginning, mellowing down as the Joes do detective work, and regaining intensity towards the end.
Speaking of the end, it features a cliffhanger, as a search for information doesn't go as swiftly as planned, with explosive results.
The artwork was decent, though I'd prefer more polished inks by SL Gallant. The airbrushed glow effects can be distracting at times, and I think there are more colorholds then necessary. These are small criticisms that don't deter me from recommending this issue, and can be rectified easily in the future.
Also, new vehicles are introduced! One is a huge Cobra cruiser class submarine. It is definitely not your average submarine, and one quite fitting for Cobra. Another vehicle that will look very familiar is introduced as well! A vehicle very reminiscent of the original Trubble Bubble is shown, with similar weaponry but this time an enclosed, armored cockpit. The bubble canopy is gone, in favor of a more angled canopy, similar to the Sky Hawk. Yet the engines, side missles, and gun are a dead ringer for the Trubble Bubble. Kudos to whomever designed this! I love seeing new vehicles and fresh redesigns of classics. I hope we see these in the toyline eventually.
This issue was a welcome change from previous issues, and it leaves you anticipating what will happen next. The plot was intriguing as it covers the activities of several characters on different missions. I recommend it as it shows the versatility of the G.I. Joe team.

give me bats but please stop after that. PLEASE!!! the original gi joe issue three was one of my least favorites... then and now. i could even do without the bats if they weren't so cool looking but don't spend three or four issues with them in a freakin' row.

the two joes that got killed by the giant robot have they been around before or were they there so they would'nt have to kill a more popular joe

Quite enjoyable issue, the story is interesting although the art is poor. I really hope they will get a better artist soon.
