In September, IDW will be releasing variant covers for their comics, including GI Joe A Real American Hero #194, which features an animated style cover by Jim Rugg. Here's the press release:

Recently HISS Tank.com had a chance to sit down with well know author Mark Bellomo to discuss his work on G.I. Joe: The Complete Collection, the full run of original Real American Hero, Special Missions, and Yearbook tales, placed in proper reading order and collected in handsome hardcover volumes.

Joe #1 was released, and I remember reading and re-reading and re-re-reading the wonderfully oversized Treasury Edition reprint of #1 at least 500 times until the pages fell apart in my hands; this is NO exaggeration. I have memorized nearly every word of the first issue. The comic speaks to me like no other before or since; I therefore have a vested interest in seeing this project succeed."

If you think you know everything about the original Larry Hama - Marvel run of G.I. Joe ARAH, I will take the Pepsi challenge! You will learn more then just a few new details after reading Mark Bellomo's introductions to each book.
I have seen many interviews with Larry Hama where he often down plays his ownership of G.I. Joe and is very modest about his work on the project. Mark gives us a very different angle without ever asking Larry a direct question, but shows off his creating atmosphere, and just how much work went into the each character in the G.I. Joe - Cobra Universe. You just can't ask for a better way to eventually own a complete run of G.I. Joe ARAH.

Ako Roshi was in attendance at the Big Wow Comic Fest this past weekend and had an opportunity to meet and talk with Michael Golden! If you're anywhere near Fremont, California, Mr. Golden will be at Treasure Island Comics this Wednesday, May 22nd!
At Big Wow Comic Fest, Golden was selling prints of the front and back covers of GI Joe Yearbook #1. Prints can be bought at the EvaInkArtistGroup site. An interesting revelation occurred as Ako Roshi was getting his Oktober Guard Pinup from the back of GI Joe Yearbook #2 signed; Golden revealed that the Oktober Guard pinup will be made as an 11 x 17 print available later this year or early next year!

IDW is doing limited edition books that collect the GI JOE run I was a part of. The books are high dollar collector items and with each book I'm doing an original art sketch plate.
There are two levels of books. A black label book will have a single character inked sketch. The Blue label books will have two characters with full marker colored sketches. I'm working through the black label sketches first. I have a number of Snake Eyes that I'm required to do (which I'm always happy to draw SE) So that's cool.
There are different versions of Snake Eyes drawn, including:- Robert Atkins' design
- Resolute Snake Eyes
- Snake Eyes V1
- Snake Eyes V2(classic)
