Got the GI Joe the Movie DVD today from Best Buy.
The Shout DVD's picture is darker than the Rhino one and if you look closely at the widescreen version you'll see that some of the top and bottom is cut off as opposed to the fullscreen version. I don't notice the darker color as much when watching it on the TV.
I don't know about audio differences as I just use the speakers on my tv
The audio commentary by Buzz Dixon is pretty funny with some informative/behind the scenes stories about making the movie. The term Granies Baudy-house will forever hold a new meaning to me now. There is an original screenplay (only seen by putting the DVD in your computer) in the bonus features as well as the last of the PSA's that were not on the season sets. There's also a small art gallery with a lot of black and white character pictures and a few background images
There is one major flaw with the DVD concerning the title screens:
When you get to the main title screen (the first in this pic) do not hit play! That will just stop the DVD (at least it does with mine) instead you have to go to bonus features (the second pic) then go to set up (the third pic) and when you choose either widescreen of fullscreen, you'll be taken back to the first pic screen where you can now hit play and all is right with the world
really the only other flaw (and it's a minor one) I see is that during the audio commentary, the audio from the movie just completely goes away. I'm more used to the audio fading down but still being there under the commentary track.
Overall, this is a nice DVD. The commentary track definately makes it a good buy for me.

So I'm still watching the Buzz Dixon commentary and I just found the funniest part.
Duke's injury scene:
Duke: yo.....jooooooe
Scarlett: He's gone into a coma
Buzz: No he hasn't

the Rhino version looks to have better colors from your screen shot.

It doesn't look like the widescreen option doesn't do anything but zoom in on the picture so it fills up the whole TV. Is that the case? It's like a whole new generation of Pan and Scan.

Hey, does anyone plan to get the Blu-Ray edition but not want the DVD that comes with it? I'm actually only interested in getting the DVD and not even interested in the box art. If anyone is in this category, please pm me.
