Hasbro's G.I. JOE Q&A Round Four The Answers

I just saw on a another site(general joes) they had there answers back. Pretty vague answers as usual but i sense there is some sort of animated series coming. The other sites answers should come tonight also right?

Q.The Howler is surprisingly absent from the movie line, are there plans for
one?

A.This is a possibility down the line, but it will not be coming in 2010.

Q.When will Resolute be released on DVD/Blu-ray?

A.The Resolute DVD should be released later this fall

Q.Are there plans for a new G.I. Joe cartoon that will appear on the new Hasbro TV station?

A.Many Hasbro brands are being considered for new television programing via the joint venture with Discovery, including G.I. Joe however we are not ready to make any official annoucement.

because they didn't give an absolute answer to the Resolute figure set question, you can put your money on a Resolute figure set.

I agree. They stated that if/when we see a Resolute set, it would be in a larger pack, like the Defense of/Attack on Cobra Island sets.

Yeah, and it'll be Duke, Snake Eyes, Cobra Commander, Cobra Trooper, Cobra Officer, Gung Ho & a BAT.

I could have given those answers. Maybee fans are't ask the right questions these days. It sounds like the person at hasbro is tired of using the magic 8 ball.

In all seriousness, I don't think folks really understand just how much work some of us put in to the Q & A process. Trying to make sure we don't have duplicate questions, asking questions in a way that Hasbro can't give "yes or no" answers, and coming up with stuff that people WANT to know that hasn't been asked a hundred times already.

It ain't easy. Hell, we could be back 3 years ago, before Q & A's ever existed, maybe that's what folks would prefer...

What really bothers me is...

Why have a Q&A if almost 80% of answers equate to "wait and see"?

Other than that...a lot of the same questions get asked as many members of our Community have the same questions on their mind:

1. When will we see Resolute Figures/DVD
2. When will we begin to see a Pursuit of Cobra tie in
3. What's with the drastic price increase

I'm sure there's more...but the problem(s) inherent in the Q&A sessions are, IMO, the quality of answers.

Who chooses the questions we submit? There were a lot of good ones and we wasted three. Everyone will ask about Resolute. We should think this through a little more, rather than throw fluff at Hasbro.

Some of the admins on other sites don't like there Q & A's posted, since when we do that it keeps the smaller Joe sites from getting traffic, because there is no need to go tho their site if you can read the answers all in one place then there is no reason to go to that site, I might try to provide links to all the sites if I have time over the weekend, but since GeneralsJoes.com does that already, I'm not sure if I will

The only question that was a complete waste IMO is the one asking about the "stands" for the vehicle drivers...come on the stands...really? I mean the stands???

I actually want to know why we don't get them we get them with Targets mini-vehicles, but a 40.00 Night Raven and the Strato Viper doesn't even get a stand that is cheap/lame

didn't they answer that question before? I believe their response was something to the effect of the drivers sitting in the vehicles and therefore not needing a stand.

Yeah I think your right, but it is still a lame reason we have higher priced vehicles and Hasbro can't throw in a .02 stand

We always ask questions we either already know the answer to or know Hasbro will side step. I thought my question about that chick from the ARAH boxset DVD extras and my chances of banging her was a question the entire community could enjoy.

I actually agree with this...it just bothers me when I see a lot of blame going to the fandom for not asking the "right" questions, especially without realizing how much work goes into each round of Q & A's not to mention how much work went into getting them off the ground in the first place.

instead of playing the 20 questions game trying to ask the right questions that will get you a vague hint of future events@ Why doesn't Hasbro just come out every three months or so and lay on the line everything they can tell us and we can assume everything else is a "not at this time" issue! The games are totally old!

Well going back in time doesn't get us what we want to hear. But let's say we do realize all the work that went into getting us this far. We should be happy with the run around? I say no. It doesn't help that we throw softballs at Hasbro. I'm going to propose the first question for the next round:

Hasbro, What does the phrase "knowing is half the battle" mean to you?

I'm sure you and others put genuine effort into asking questions that wouldn't seem to have been asked before, but I can't help but be a little disappointed when every site asks about a freaking Resolute DVD release. It'll come out eventually, no need for everyone to panic about it. Why must everyone use these to simply guess some product we don't know about?

Definitely, as someone involved in the process in multiple sites as a mod and an admin, we try REALLY hard to make sure the right questions get submitted. No Flagg, TerrorDrome, Defiant and Sigma 6 questions will ever go in as we all know the answers on those. Not all sites participate in the sharing and collaboration pre-submission. That in itself is OK, but the point is that WE TRY. I don't think if we have done this EVERY site would have a Resolute DVD question (adding that to the list above).

For someone to say that things are not much different on the fandom side then the Hasbro side, CLEARLY has no clue as to the work behind the scenes. I KNOW the questions have changed over the last 3 years, it is the answers that are full of ambiguity and so clearly lack substance. If someone in the online fandom that has a better idea to make sure better questions are asked or even better PICKED, then let a mod or admin know here and I am sure they will be ALL EARS.

I'm glad they asked about the Howler.. although we'll probably get some version like the gunship that can only hold 2 figures. And are we going to get some kinda of Joe Fighter Jet to equal the likes of the Night Raven.

Cause to them Resolute is like the second coming of the Messiah. I wouldnt say its disappointing I am more annoyed with the Resolute questions cause its the same ones that are asked over an over an over.

I thought there was a question about the limited availability of the Best of 80's DVD set that is causing so many MASS devices to never amount to anything more than a Weather Dominator...

Even The Collector's Club asked that stands question in back-to-back Q&A's, not to mention asking about the Resolute DVD release in their first 2009 Q&A.

For both of these, I bet Hasbro is tired of getting the same questions and might actually want to talk about the toys for a change. Especially if they're doing cool stuff then only interacting with fans at conventions.

Then again maybe someone at Hasbro sucks at PR or hasn't figured out how to use social media to update fans via facebook or twitter, but they're really behind the times with this.

I absolutely understand this, but please also understand, we don't get cooperation from all sites. When the Q & A process started, many of us formed a Q & A "group" who pools questions before they're submitted and makes certain that there weren't too many redundant questions or duplicates. However, one look at the Q & A list will show you just how large the Q & A pool as grown.

I mean, just look at it. When we first kicked this off, there were 8 sites contributing questions, so teaming up to avoid duplicates and non-essentials was easy. But now? The question pool has grown from 8 sites to almost THIRTY. There is no way humanly possible that we can all bang our heads together and find questions that won't be duplicated. We work long and hard to try and come up with things that won't be asked elsewhere, but on the other hand, one look around the forums told us that folks were dying to know more about Resolute and the Resolute DVD. So unfortunately, that subject got touched on quite a bit.

I echo Gary... if anyone has any other ideas, please, we're all ears. We're Joe fans, too, we hate to see dupe questions and redundant answers thrown out there.

Anyone with any better ideas, we'd love to hear 'em.

And just to echo my previous thoughts... yeah, duplicate questions are a pain, but let's look at the Resolute Boxed-Set question.

That was asked several times this round, and we were given vague answers every time. However, when Kastor's Korner submitted the question, Hasbro responded that the Resolute set would hit in Fall, 2010. So, even with all of the redundant duplication, we ended up getting an answer.

Believe me as frustrating as it is to all of you, it can be for us trying to pull the strings and shuffle the cards behind the scenes, too.

Having read through the Q&As, the problem doesn't seem to come from the questions asked but rather Hasbro's responses. Responses are vague and often go one for less than 2 sentences. Hasbro's responses to the Star Wars Q&As are much more thought out and offer more insight into the planning and thought process behind the toy lines. It is disappointing that the same quality of answers cannot be given for the GI Joe line.

Total B.S. cover my ass answer. Every site asked about Resolute, and we all know it's coming. Hasbro has said we will be getting the figures...and they said it months ago. There were so many great questions submitted and we, I don"t give a shit how special you feel being a MOD or an ADMIN, we the community that make up the Tank and all other fan sites submitted them. But somehow instead of asking real questions, or digging for new info. we lobbed softballs. Nice.

fall 2010 for the Resolute pack? so it won't be coming out with the DVD if the DVD is due this fall. then again, they just said "fall" for the DVD...I guess that doesn't necessarily mean this year.

Nice, then I would LOVE for you to do better and suggest a better solution. Clearly you did not read any of this thread. Since you are so full of ideas, I say good luck with that. I look forward toward hearing them. My PM box is always open.

IDEA: How about a panel to discuss candidate questions pulled from the submissions thread? A few permanent members, a mod and a handfull of volunteers mull over the good and the bad one evening a few days before the submission deadline.
