Hasbro's G.I. JOE Q&A Round Five The Answers black-hasbro-logo
HISS Tank.com has just received Round Four of Hasbro's 2009 G.I. Joe Q&A. The answers to our 3 questions can be seen below.

Q.Are we going to see the release of the Cobra B.A.T. and Cobra Viper Troop Builder Packs in 2010?

A.Not in 2010.

Q.Rumors are running rampant about the future of Rise of Cobra movie toys as well as Pursuit of Cobra? Are we still going to see the products show at Both SDCC and JoeCon in 2010?

A.The Pursuit of Cobra product will hit shelves in the back half 2010. The
line looks fantastic and we are very excited about its release.

Q.Who will be in the Resolute 7 Packs next year?

A.The Resolute pack is currently in development for a fall 2010 release.
More details are coming in the future.

    I already made a custom S.a.w. viper.

But seeing as they already have the helmet for it and most of the pre-existing parts, I'm not surprised.
CobraCrimson:
Sweet, hopefully a Techno-Viper will be in there somewhere as well as a vintage styled Night-Viper. Even if they repaint the RoC/PoC Jungle-Viper with the vintage OG Night-Viper colors and get rid of the "camouflage backpack" setup thingy, that would be great!

Low Light and Airtight would be great too as would a Sgt. Slaughter! Hell, they already have the parts for a Steel Brigade figure too!
mynameis:
dont expect them to look original like they would if they were carded for the 25th lineup
CrimsonGuard101:
Well see about this....until they are on WS_TOYS ebay site with more than 10 available, they are just a pipe dream and wishful thinking...
alexan2dros:
    cool!!!
The BLAY:
Id love to see some classics come out!
although I am really happy with my Crazylegs I cant wait!
shlappyguy:
Cool news! Hopefully they look recognizable as the classic versions!
SNAKE EYES:
I can't wait to see how Crazy Legs turns out.
Foolproof:
I actually just yelped in happiness, I think. Crazylegs and SAW Viper! YESSS!

I am kind of apprehensive, though, seeing how Law & Order, Footloose and Repeater turned out.
Batmandk02:
Wow.. we got more figures coming out in 2010!! Yeppie... More repaints! I cannot wait to save 8.00 on a single figure and buy some paint and make my own!!
CrimsonGuard101:
LOL ya know this is what they are going to give us for SAW viper...

gunslingercbr:
Hasbro announces characters fans want and it still turns into a bitch fest.

This is why. For me, anyway.

I was thinking the same thing. And people really expect Hasbro to listen to the "fans"?
alexan2dros:
Was the Pit playset successful enough to warrant another large sized base or vehicle?

A3. We are very pleased with The Pit but we don’t have plans to release such a large scale vehicle in 2010. But we'll definably look at other options in the future.

that means not terror drome in 2010.... that sucks... :(

But can you really blame anyone for not getting their hopes up? I mean, I think no one should judge a toy they haven't even seen, but I must admit I was shocked when I saw the set with Footloose. I liked it, but Hasbro gave off the impression the set would be classic styled.

Personally, I'm tired of 25th style remakes, but a lot fans want that, and when Hasbro says they canceled 25th sets in favor of "something special with Footloose", it makes you think classic style Footloose.

Oh well, the Q&As have been decent so far.

Try to understand, we all got our hopes up for Footloose and Monkeywrench when they dropped that hint and look what happened there.

I'm adopting a wait and see attitude on this. If they're making a real effort, then I'll sing their praises, but I'm not going to get my hopes up too high until I see the pics on ebay.
Uberlad:
I've seen enough custom Crazy Legs figures to know that Hasbro has the parts to put out a reasonable facsimile between Lift Ticket, Airborne, and a regular Viper. I know how Hasbro loves to kitbash and repaint, so as long as they follow the recipe, it's all good.

He was always a favorite of mine, so I hope he turns out well!
SNAKE EYES:
teemu8:
I guarantee the classic names (crazy legs) that are being thrown out will look NOTHING like the classic figure..dont get your hopes up..
Troynos:
Maybe it's the cynic in me, but I didn't get my hopes up at all. I figured there would be something different about 'em or they'd appear in the movie line so I wasn't disappointed by Footloose and actually think RoC Monkeywrench is an improvement over the original.

The way I see it, it's Hasbro's sandbox, I just play in it. If it's filled with sand toys I don't like, I build my own sandcastle or go and find some that I do like.

Would I love a vintage looking Footloose in 25th style? Hell yeah, would be great, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

It's just a new version of the same character. Doesn't need to look the same.

If it's cool and I like it, I'll get it. If not, then I won't.

I know that Hasbro is trying to create a new Joe audience and that I'm not their main objective. And I'm fine with that. And I view everything they do as that.

How about you garuntee us the world and show us we have something to look forward too?

They will end up being just some half assed kitbash of exiting parts, crappy ROC camo paint applied and a name tag put under thier feet with the wrong name (if they are not stuck with a lousey VvV reapinted alpha vehicle and not even get a stand)...

Hasbro: At this point, we have no immediate plans to develop these characters for Combat Heroes.
Huh? But we saw photos of these! In package! They're 5 packs! WTF?

    Quote:
Parrygamepreserve: Can we expect any more Helix figures?

Hasbro: I'm sure Helix will make an appearance in the line in 2010.
    See ROC Dial-Tone.

Joesightings: There have been some growing concerns with the community at the lack of proper representation with certain iconic characters; either with wrong characterization, lack of unique heads, or needless race or gender changes. (...) Seeing familiar characters return and others updated are certainly welcomed, but there needs to be a continuity based around that character to make it work. (...) In the upcoming waves, can we please see new heads for each new character, and greater attention paid to adhering to the spirit of classic characters if they are to be updated?

Hasbro: Since 1964 GI Joe has constantly evolved and embraced the pop culture
world around it. As it evolves, characters change and likenesses may
change to suit the new story or situation. We need to expect GI Joe to
constantly change and adapt to the context and culture surrounding it.
This is the very nature of the brand and we want to keep it relevant and
    fresh for every generation.
Translation: F*** you, everyone who wants the 25th to continue.

We got a classic Ripcord in the 7-pack. The only thing different about him was the name.

yes,I want a NEW crazy legs that looks like the classic character to add to my many 25th/modern figures..not a garbage ROC wanna-be version
ChaplainAsst:
I honestly think the person tasked with answering the Q&A for the Joe line truly has no desire to give any information out at all - except to look forward to 2010. What stinks is if you look at their Q&A for Star Wars, the answers given are thoughtful, honest, and engaging. The Joe's answer guy seems to be a low level intern who is scared to death that he might reveal something informative or pertinent so the person answers in a snarky way that shows a complete lack of understanding of the line (ie, Combat heroes is not looking at using Wild Bill in the line ... except for the Combat hero Wild Bill that is being sold RIGHT NOW!).
snakeeyes22:
They did say Alpha wave 3 is coming out, so that's something.
I'm glad they at least seem pretty confident and excited about POC, rather than the "we'll see/can't discuss" answers we could have gotten about its future.

Somewhere it said basically stay tuned for info that may relate to classic stuff, but that may refer to an official announcement of POC or something. Which would be dumb, since obviously Joe sites know about that stuff.

Someone mentioned there is a SAW Viper type helmet already out there. With what figure?
Troynos:
I want a cool Crazy Legs. If he looks vintage they better do a better job then they did with Hit & Run. And if he looks new, then hopefully it'll be a cool looking character.

Hmm. I don't know. They might have been thinking of 25th Slipstream, which is a dead ringer for Rock-Viper, mustache and all.

He'd be a rediculously easy kitbash. We'll likely see him in a vehicle. Hopefully they'll treat him more like Heavy Metal than Rollbar.

shlappyguy:
Wow, there are some really lame non-answers on that list. I'm glad for the news we actually got, but , man, most of those answers were pure crippity-crap.
ultramax:
same hasbro BS answers always, lets stick to ebay for the news!!!

hopefully hasbro learned their lesson from the ROC clogged pegs all over..... and START listening to collectors, we're the ones buying the toys, there's no need to 'bridge the gap to the new generation" they have xbox and ps3 with modern warfare 2, they dont care about collecting action fugures like us grown mam-child from the 80s...
tuan_tran73:
WOW! Crazy Legs, SAW Vipers and many others with the same names will be released next year, but wait they never mentioned that the figure will look like classic version. I used to get really excited Q&A from Hasbro regarding about classic figures. After seeing Footloose, Repeater, Law&Order, and Dial-tone(does it look like resolute to you?), thanks but no thanks.
landrat100:
Hasbro becomes more obnoxious with every Q&A - they do this with Star Wars, too. Do they understand Q without the A is kind of pointless? Get with it, Hasbro!

Aside from the S.A.W. Viper and Crazy Legs info it was another round of double talk and evading questions. Hasbro if you are going to keep doing these answer the damn questions. If you are not going to answer them then stop doing these and wasting our time.

Saw viper is a purple neo viper with range viper's saw gun.

Crazy Legs is a PoC snow job head on a Scarlett Body wearing a mini skirt and the doctors wig.

    That would be an improvement.

Seriously, the SAW Viper is one of the fugliest figures in the history of the line. I can't understand how anyone could crap on the Para-Viper and then want this plastic travesty ressurected.

    v1 or v2?

Well the modern era has improved a lot of figures which could be seen as crappy.

Jokes aside, I'm hoping for a PoC Saw viper. I say let the designers tinkerbell and mickey mouse with the original designs. I bet it will be in the jungle assault line. Same with any other vipers they are planning next year. I'm fine with classic figures, but gi joe needs something new.

Plus, we need more troop builders this year. So while the original may have looked like a laser tag captain, the new one will actually mix modern military and sci fi.
CrimsonGuard101:
Have we really seen them stray too far away from the base Neo-Viper of ROC yet? Newp. Your just going to get a technicolor rainbow of more nano-Vipers, Crimson Vipers, and Silver Moon Vipers not to mention Cocoa Vipers with different names plates is all...in homage to all of the Clone Wars troopers they make.
