Glad to see we get "the viper is coming" but "My favorite things"?! That has got to be one of the worst episodes of the whole lot. Serpentor has magical facial hair in that episode! Boo.

Bazooka saw a sea serpent?
Sorry for the rant but I think we all are a little biased as to what we think the best episodes are. Glad to see the movie intro made the list, so it makes the set make a little more sense.

My girlfriend and I watched that episode a few days ago, she thought it was hilarious. Lantern_Lad: Now that is a cool set of figures! Finally an awesome Cobra Commander!
The episodes: meh... I'll take 'em!
As far as what episodes weren't included, maybe we'll get future DVD battle packs with another build-a-whatever, or, better yet, a DVD pack with an extra figure!
It is kind of funny though that all of those figures and accessories could actually be from the opening sequence alone. RolandofGilead: If it weren't for Alpine, this set would have "skip it" written all over it. jjk1120: I'm a little puzzled about these "Best of" episodes, too.
They should've given us a choice, like the Hall of Heroes figures.
Eh, whatever. I like the Cobra Commander & Alpine.
Good thing we get another Cobra soldier and Duke.

So, ummm....yeah. Well, I'm pretty sure that list is 4 episodes and not 5 and I would be really surprised if the fans voted for those episodes. Pretty lame. Of course, I am buying it, but disappointed.
I would have expected to see at least one of the following:
Countdown for Zartan
Red Rockets Glare
Synthoid Conspiracy (1&2)
The Gamesmaster
Bazooka saw a Sea Serpant
The Traitor (1&2)
... Lo-Wan Bing: I like it. I can get a CLAW w/out the (IMO) stupid FANG. The accessories are pretty neat (CC's bomb) I get Screaming Duke with Jetpack (Don't need single packed screaming Duke and never bothered with non-screaming Duke w/jetpack) + Alpine and a Cobra soldier... but then again, if I get Alpine I may feel obligated to get Bazooka.... eh,.... shlappyguy: wow, that screaming Duke head is going right on the maimed Duke custom I'm planning to do with my million and a half extra Dukes I have laying around. apeface: Wow, screaming Duke's face just looks like he is terrified beyond belief or about to bite into some giant sandwich.

thankfully, hasbro was able to break the mass device into ONLY 5 components. ~Synder Corps.~: Not too shabby...That CLAW looks a bit on the cheap side though...but the CC looks to be front runner for default. Duke...Meh...I like the head, the color is off, and Grand Slam needs that better JUMP...one that dosn't magically stay on.

I definitely will be picking up the set. The Alpine looks great. darth_henning: I'm getting this set purely for Alpine and MASS device. CC is good, and finally gives us the proper version. THe trooper is OK, army builders always welcome.
Duke is a waste though. that Trooper's parachute pack though + TrU SRO pack Ace = Ripcord. and the bomb and Claw and Alpine are all nice.

A) Hasbro seems to want to focus on earlier stuff (NE and FAlcon notwithstanding)
B) The whole Duke getting stabbed (with blood!) by a snake thing is too PG for toy release (and damaging to the character of Duke, who, as we know, has to be in every other wave)
C) it blows. Seriously.
The opening was okay, I suppose, but that new song they played during it was beyond awful. MachineGunEtiquette: YES! another duke and another cobra commander!!!!

Yeah, I see them putting that sequence in just cause of the figures for the pack. The only thing I can see them doing wrong here is making CC's harness not removable. Let's hope that's not the case. I'm still debating whether to take up HectorXD's offer or to just buy the whole set and sell off the CLAW and Mass Device piece. delta: Quote:

I think that the repaints are at least well done and improved this time ... but there are some many nice caracters that I would prefer to see released first, like Blowtorch, Ripcord ... and pleaassee LOW LIGHT! just to say a few.. topnotch97: i'm not liking that Alpine figure for some reason. looked different from the early designs/prototype.
but the camera looks nice.  xFlintx: While it sucks that Hasbro lost the rights to Alpine, I love the fact it says Albert Pine on his stand.
I wish they picked Cold Slither for this set though and the Traitor. But The Viper is coming is a classic. Driftbot: i would rather have tunnel rat and jinx.
otherwise i guess i am happy with this set. CC's finally got his chrome dome. duke has hemorrhoids, trooper has a 'chute, the MASS device is completed, we get an alpine to pal around with bazooka and quick kick, and a camera for... uh... maybe flint and lady jaye can use it to film thier uh... "adventures"?

That opening is the BEST CARTOON OPENING EVER and the theme song is THE BEST! It's a trillion times better than ANY of the ones from the series--ESPECIALLY the early ones where the guy sounds like he's singing through a hernia and is trying to remember the words as he goes along.
And we're not getting the movie due to rights/legal reasons. delta: What are the breaks on Cobra Commanders glider thing for? Deckard: what could possibly be the legal reasons for not releasing the movie? hasbro not wanting it to be known since they're getting ready to release their crappy live action version? lol genoneguy: I think the guys at Hasbro just put the names of all the episodes in a hat, blindfolded a random employee, had that guy pick five episodes out of the hat, and then said "these are the five best episodes ever!!!" |
