| G.I. Joe Modern Era Cobra Viper Squad And Cobra BAT Squad |

Shown here are the Cobra Viper Squad and Cobra B.A.T. Squad. These Cobra Viper and B.A.T. troop builder 5-packs feature troopers and a leader figure with different paint applications. In the Viper Squad, you have not only a gold helmet Viper but also one with a swappable head(Mercer?).
The B.A.T. Squad features regular B.A.T.s in addition to a B.A.T. with red trim. Fans have been asking for a B.A.T. troop builder pack since the 25th Anniversary/Modern Era B.A.T. was released last year, and it looks like our wish will finally come true! No word on if the Viper Squad will remain exclusive to Toys 'R' Us stores, or which retailers these sets are destined to. Could they be TRU exclusives, or possibly online exclusives? But aren't we jumping the gun, assuming that these are coming out? Isn't it more likely that the seller is moving a couple of production samples from before these were shelved in order to make ROC stuff? Foolproof: F*cking awesome. That's all. The BAT pack looks almost like 4 regulars and a "Resolute" BAT slapped together.

| No because for one thing, we never saw the B.A.T. pack until now, nor have we ever heard about it from either SDCC, JoeCon, and prior to both events. If it's in package with everything painted, and especially with it being shown now, it's most likely going to come either late this year or early next. t34bag: wow, Here's what they need to change...

we've seen previews of flesh molded corrected arms and shiny masks, I'll wait for those.
the BATs have that silver dry brush instead of solid silver on their parts, that needs to change
It's a nice find and kudos for you shin for getting them I just can't see why they would release the old versions of figs when the new ones kick so much butt.
hey hasbro what's the use of army builders if they are out dated versions of beter figs?

IIRC awhile back i know we saw the viper pack before and it had different packaging... but we were told it was cancled. But i think it was that version was cancled, they may have shopped it out to a different retailer than TRU. Because I kinda doubt they'd go to the trouble of re-boxing those in new packaging if they were cancled.
Personally I'd pick up more bats.. i like the set. I know before we had seen the bats with black parts test shots that were supposed to be in the pack, i like the regular ones more.
The viper set needs to be the fixed viper if it was i'd be all over the set. Like i could kinda understand the reasoning behind not using the fixed viper in the original set at the time cause they wanted people to buy the HOH viper and make bank on that. But at this point in time the HOH ones been out for awhile now and it's pointless to not be using the fxied viper.
This would be a good venue to do a proper cobra trooper as well, we never got a black masked red symbol trooper in any type of good army building capcity. I know there was the single carded one that came out when they did the red masked one, but it was super hard to find. Plus they could make CT with different skin tones, i'd love to get black cobra troopers like they did with the VVV o-ring set. paraviper: Quote:

| I agree with this. Black mask red logo troopers are the best. I bought alot of the silver logo ones but like the red logo more as well. I was lucky enough to get ahold of 14 of the single carded black mask red logos. Although I ordered 12 of them online. I only found 2 in a store once. They were a pain in the ass to find. | My suspicion is that these are mass market 5 packs. Star Wars has had battle packs typically with 5 figures each(most of the time, or 2-4 with vehicles/accessories), and those tend to do well, so maybe G.I. Joe will go the same route. vermillion21: Quote:

Some non-ROC stuff being made is a good harbinger for other 25th stuff getting made. Mandingo Rex: I agree with those who said too little, too late. Also, I'm not being negative here, but realistic... I am a little cautious about getting hopes up that these are actually coming out.
Hasbro has said in a past Q&A that this was scrapped... I can believe that production samples of this quality made it this far before being cancelled... Hell, look at the amazing Wave 14 figures that showed up. I doubt we'll see some of those, and they were damn near shelf-final.
The B.A.T. set would have been nice in 2008, and the Viper set would have been great with the new mold, as others have already said. And, yep, I'd agree with the black-mask, red-sigil trooper 5-pack as a much-wanted set that's not seen mass-release already. I guess for those in love with B.A.T.-building it's a great deal, but I've already got 7-10 regular/BD B.A.T.s and don't want many more. dawingster: I already got my fill of Vipers and Bats. This won't be on my buy list. I'd assume these packs are targeted to new consumers who missed out on early single/comic 2pk waves. Beach_Head: I want that Red B.A.T. and that Gold Viper...

i searched the news archive and checked for old article on the set originally when we first saw it boxed and now that I'm comparing it i was wrong it is the same packaging. So I take back what i said, i now think these are cancled. There just more production samples, akin to the carded stuff we saw like resolute storm shadow.
