Neat. I still like that Duke figure, don't know why.
TheLongestDay:
    thanks for the update!
BadWolf:
Sorry, after a second look I can't find any reason to buy this other than I buy everything. It's going closet side with ol Matt Tracker.
VIPER 48:
Thanks for the update. I am pretty sure these will be easy to find considering how many members will probably pass on them. It should make it easy to snag a set...
Hicks_Royel:
Man I hope Hasbro answers my question. If they'd taken the time to build Cobra Commander from maybe Dusty's torso and the sash from whichever twin... I don't know, still seems like a quick half assed attempt to build hype.
Loose Cannon:
MAYBE I'll buy it for my Nephew and swap out the duke. Sounds terrible but he won't know or care. And he'll most likely beak all of them with in a year.
Dansolo:
I bought a Ninja Battles 5 pack about 3 years ago at my TRU when it was closing. I only opened it about 6-7 months ago and it had no DVD in it. I may have to pick this up for that if nothing else but to complete my army of Dukes, Snake Eyes, Cobra Commanders, or Storm Shadows...
Hit n Run:
The dvd sounds good, and i like the green SE.
Monkeywrench:
still a pass. thanks for the update

same here. insignificant to me really.
Blot:
I don't own the Valor vs Venom or SpyTroops movies - are these going to be clips from these previous DVD's, or are these the entire films re-named?
Imperial_Ozma:
Ninja Battles should stay burried and dead, worst disgrace to the legacy of Storm Shadow EVAR!
doc_mccoy:
I dont post much but do read a ton of threads and I cant help it...gotta voice my two cents on this one.

I used to think some posters on here were too hard on Hasbro for repaints, duke arms, etc. But this set takes the cake for being junk in my book...just slap a reprinted compilation of a DVD into a package with some repaints and bang...GREATEST BATTLES! I dont think so.

The only thing 'great' about this DVD set is Hasbro's lack of effort.

I like my Storm Shadows and Snake Eyes figures a TON but COME ON!
General Hawk:
Yeah, heaven forbid Hasbro actually produces something for the new generation instead of catering to 30+ something collectors for a change...

Guys, Hasbro has been making toys marketed specifically for US for the past year and a half. In 2009 G.I. Joe is going to be HUGE and there's going to be a lot of product out there for the kids. You all better get used to it now.

I'd just be happy that Hasbro isn't wasting new tooling dollars on a set like this, and is keeping that money for the toys that we'll be into. Good move on their part.

This set doesn't excite me a whole lot either, but I understand it's not even marketed for me...

Why cant the make that version of stormshadow correct. He doesnt have a hood and and hs has a full faced mask, how hard is that to see. It would look alot better.

Because the kids will just go for this.......somehow?
vermillion21:
Are the shows from the original cartoon series or something else?

The figure in the package is not an homage to the box art for this battle set, it is an homage to the gijoe vs cobra 2002 version. Why Hasbro chose not to use the accurate box art is a question a lot of us have been asking.
Billy_Chops:
I gotta say I'm gonna pass this one. I have too many of all of those figures. I think the DVD packs are cool but this one is lackluster.

I think they should make a DVD pack with the movie (87) and put the cobra-la royal guard, Golobulous, Pythona and Nemesis enforcer. Or Do Mercer Red Dog, Taurus and Sgt Slaughter and they could have pieces of the b.e.t.

Maybe kids are different now but when I was a kid I didn't like crappy toys. I liked good toys.
rob0213:
Not paying $20 bucks for that.
Lifeline_MD:
I kinda like Snake Eyes, but the rest of the set is a pass, so PASS.
flash70:
rehash...I hope these are not clogging the pegs.
KnightDamien:
I'll go ahead and say it: It's a good set. It's not great. It's not amazing. And it's likely not in any way geared towards most of us. But what is -actually- bad about it? Not much.

All of the figures are kitbash/repaints. CC's colour scheme easily makes him the worst figure in the lot, even for kids. He's really pushing it. A darker blue scheme with red accents might have worked better here, but oh well.

Snake Eyes is, well, another SE. But the colours are actually quite nice. And that is one of the more popular SE molds - I think we all loved it when it was first released, and I'm sure kids that don't already have that one will love this new one.

Hell, even if they do have the first one, they may still love this one. I bought more than one Hasbro repaint as a kid and liked it.

Duke has a decent colour scheme as well. Odd parts choice, but still a fine 'soldier' toy.

Storm Shadow actually has a really cool colour-scheme and parts selection. Again, not fantastic but it does look cool.

That's the bottom line here. While we may be hugely critical because it doesn't look like X or Y - most kids don't know that. And to a lot of kids, I'm sure these are just -cool- toys. I accept it on the same level as some might accept Resolute: It's not the Joe we grew up with and doesn't necessarily look like how we remember the characters, but that doesn't mean it's not still a cool, fun toy.

Plus, a DVD and four figures at 20 bucks is a great deal, even if the figures are half-hearted and uninspired, so long as they're of good quality (which most Hasbro Joes have been thus far).

I love that CC mask, by the way. Where the Cobra emblem comes down past the eyeslits. I think that was his coolest design, so I'm actually tempted to buy the set just for that, except that I'm sure we'll see that deco reused plenty of times from now. The rest of the stuff in the set is pretty meh to me. I'd take the Storm Shadow to add to my army of nameless ninja - but 20 bucks for a just a CC head that I'll likely be able to get cheaper later on and a single SS figure is just too much.

But really, this wasn't that far from being a sell to me. If Duke had been a repaint of the Resolute Duke, which I really like, and SE had a colour scheme I liked more - I'd actually be very tempted to buy this.
Samuntrus:
That looks like crap to me! I'll be saving my money for more resolute figures.

now THAT my friend is a goddamned GREAT idea. I gotta say these figures are crap and MAY have custom fodder potential when the sets is at clearance for 10 bucks or less.
The Commander:
I agree with KnightDamien, I love that paint job on CC's hood. I'll get this set, but doubt I'll ever display them. Will probably use the CC head for some kitbash.
The BLAY:
I think I'd pass on this one.
the CC looks a little half a$$ed IMO

these eps. that are on the DVD are the ARAH?
OSOK:
    no thanks

That's why they are using Rise of Cobra related designs right?...oh wait.
Killjoy:
This has to be a psychology test by Hasbro to determine how many times that they can repaint the same shit and watch us buy it. These are the 4 most repainted characters in the Joe Universe, save maybe for Destro (so why didn't they include him I wonder).
firefly069:
poor effort... Hasbro really went from original characters with a few duplicates to really mailing it in....
sisco:
Are these new packs coming with their own Build a piece of something? The box look like it has the space set aside for one.
Tracker:
    The snakeye's repaint looks good
cmderinchief:
    Interesting.
gijoeben1:
Certainly doesn't look like there is a piece inside there to build a larger piece. The back of the box isn't open in the back to show it off.

Have thought a lot about Hasbro doing a BET and movie release. It could be another 5 set run. I gotta say, I love the DVD Battles sets a lot, and I've bought multiples of them in numbers I don't even want to talk about....

That said this set can sit there. Just nothing there for me.
Barefoot Jedi:
I like the COBRA Commander but not enough to get the set just for it.
Gundamben831:
I agree with alot of people here, wtf hasbro why all the repaints, honestly if I wanted to shat out another paint job on an old figure I would have gone to the sewer to find it, I think these are a definite pass. There really isn't anything going for this pack besides SE and SS but even then with their new paints still looks like garbage.
Fierce Krypton:
I would only buy this if I needed something to fill up my trash can.
minstrelboy:
I dunno. Up until now, the most disappointing thing with the entire line (in my opinion) was the vehicle pack Tele-Viper. But now this. I know Hasbro watches these boards, so I just don't know why this has been made. Every other DVD Battle Pack had something new. This is an entirely repainted set - the coolest thing about it is the Cobra emblem on CC's hood. And if the DVD that comes with it is something other than original animated series, then I'm not really interested. There are so many more laudable ideas to be seized, and this is what we get? If this is the direction the line is taking, then I'm beginning to lose interest.
Steel Brigade:
Thanks for the new pics of the Joe vs. Cobra pack.
They did a good job in capturing the flavor of the '02 Joes here.
I am glad to see that the extra web gear fits on both SE & SS in addition to what they both normally have.
And I think that '02 Duke is a cool design. I'll definately be picking a set up.

I just dont understand this......yes it WOULD be a Really GREAT deal if there were 4 figs worth a damn and a DVD........its not a great deal.

I don't pass on much, but this one will be easy.

Doesn't mean we have to like it or buy it for that matter.
Shin Densetsu:
I like 1/2 of this set, Duke might be a good figure for playability but proportions for the hips are bad. Cobra Commander is okay, I mainly want this for the ninjas.
Marine_Deadpool:
AWESOME!!! ..... another Cobra Commander! Time to suck start that shotgun!
angrypandaink:
I do not understand this set, are the cartoons old or new? Are these considered part of the 25th new era line? I am probably going to pass!
boff123:
pass on this. will get it when target clearances it out for 6.25.
