i hate to be a dissenter, but i just totally hate everything about these. i already knew i hated the figures (still can't believe there's not a single new character) ~ can't stand the lame "Shoot Me here" giant Cobra symbol trooper, or Stalker in "had a bucket of green paint fall on me" camo or radioactive Snake-eyes (WTF?)
the Baroness is at least "ok"
and now, the packaging just TOTALLY sucks compared to the rest of the line, i mean, that is really, really bad. yikes. (even the TRu battlepacks are nicer looking, that flat yellow background is jsut an eyesore....)
I'm really hoping when wave 2 of these comes out it either continues the trend of being an "easy pass" by just having repaints, or goes the opposite route and has all new characters, cuz i am not gonna be stoked if i end up having to drop $20 to get 1 figure, if for instance they have a bunch of repaints and Quick Kick or Alpine in there... Cobra-Viper: Love Lady Jaye! Even though they are mostly repaints I'll still get them because they rock! The Cobra Trooper is the best looking so far. Radioactive Snake Eyes looks awesome. Stalker looks cool too, same for Roadblock. Baroness I'm not really fussed about but she still looks good. Destro is my favorite though.
Plus awesome cartoon mini-series! jjsvipers: it looks awesome cant wait to get these sets. Spade: Hey look it's "Target on the chest Cobra Trooper"!
I want that Baroness. primenemesis: when are these due out in stores? xFlintx: I'll be buying two of each for sure.. gotta build me a mass Device! And certainly can't pass up the weather Dominator either. artiepants: at least the Destro repaint is really awesome ~ how he should have looked in the 5pack. Seriously though, these look sweet, definitely looking forward to them, and getting the DVDs, too. Hopefully they're not too much more than a $25-30 price point. wheeljaxx: i've got them on pre-order. looking very forward to these. some figs won't get any shelf time, and i'll probably sell off the weather dominator and figs i' don't want or care for. Really only got these for baroness, snakeeyes, stalker and destro, and the DVD's shlappyguy: Man, is it just me, or is the M.A.S.S. device set just much more desirable than the Revenge of Cobra set? In the M.A.S.S., we get jetpack Stalker, a new Baroness, an extra Cobra trooper, and a pretty cool Snake-Eyes variant. In the Revenge of Cobra, we only get three figures: an almost weaponless Roadblock, a Destro with a shiny head that everyone did themselves already, and the new-head Lady Jaye being the only figure worth having. Oh, and a patch of grass. Maaaaybe I'll pick up Revenge when it goes on Clearance, while I already have M.A.S.S. device on order at Hasbro Toyshop. ryeguy: This was my favourite item that was featured at the toyfair. I'm really looking forward to these and other cartoon dvd sets. I don't even need the dvd but I'll take it. When the first two original mini-series dvds came out in one set they were like $40-50. So this is a good deal, dvds, figures, accessories and playsets.
Oh, and the Lady Jaye is one of my most wanted figures. Can't wait for these. Lo-Wan Bing: Glad I passed on Duke w/jetpack since I'll be getting one here. One pack will be just get the new lady J head (which, if i'm patient will probably be single carded eventually anyways) The 2nd set has some cool accessories and wet-suit baroness if fun... but who the hell beat poor Timber with an ugly stick! The first two mini-series were packed as a two-disc set for an MSRP of $39.95 five years ago by Rhino and has been long out of print. This led to a retail price in the $25 range. However, if you would pay full retail for those DVDs it's like getting all the action figures and accessories for free!
I'm definitely picking this up as well as the forthcoming sets. I'm not a repaint guy at all, but I do like more cartoon accurate looking figures and the accessories are awesome. I never thought I'd have a scale MASS device or Weather Dominator. Sometimes Hasbro gets it right. Not often, but sometimes. Steel Brigade: I think this is one of the best ideas Hasbro has had for the line yet... I LOVE them!!

Or did I miss that? | one of #3 and 4 was going to be "Arise Serpentor, Arise" IIRC, and pretty sure they told us what the other was to be, and #5 was originally going to be the movie, but there was some licensing issue that prevented that (i wonder if that is still an issue now that Hasbro has purchased the rights back for all their animated material???) so they changed #5 to be a "Greatest Hits" and were perhaps going to have voting on the GIJoe.com website.
