ultra8294: Thanks Shin for the heads up!
Lets hope SS doesn't crap out on Shock Wave like they did with FireFly samantha: I am interested in seeing what he looks like. Headman: Don't they mean Shockblast? Or are we getting a big purple transformer with one eye? sharke: awesome news! Quote:

If my local hastings gets one in and I just happen to be there and just happen to have the cash, I might still yet get it. But it will be an impulse buy only! There is so much awesome potential with Beachhead and SW. Here's to hoping they live up to it. (GI)Joe: this is probably one of the easier ones id suspect and not surprised they are doing him .. after firefly my interest in these figures has gone down a bit so im waiting to see how the next fig. turns out SolidSnakeEyes: Hastings carries Sideshow figures? Holy crap. That's news to
me. Good news. darthfoley: Quote: |
judging by their recently unveiled firefly figure, shockwave will turn out to be a complete disappointment!
| ftfy AMERICAN_Hero7: Looks like I might consider buying my first Sideshow figure...I'd also get Flint whenever he comes out... Reaper_SE: I WANT HIM!!!
I hope Beachhead is good too they are two of my favorite characters. Why are so many people upset with the Firefly? I haven't seen more than the marketing pictures or seen reviews. Does he have awful arms like Snake Eyes or something? DPrime: Quote:

Both were called Shockwave originally. Kids today...
Interesting that they're calling him Shock Wave though, instead of using the one word. Maybe that's their way of getting past the copywrite issues Hasbro had, leading to "Shockblast".
It'd be hard to screw this one up, but they pushed it pretty far with Firefly, as much as do like that figure.
And I gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed they're doing an '88 figure - not as classic/iconic as anything they've done so far. I suspect the only reason they're doing him is because of the easy head sculpt (which would be even easier if they just use Beach Head's head, which I really hope they don't...). They seem a bit adverse to doing actual face sculpts so far, although what we have gotten (Duke and Storm Shadow's alternate head) have been really good.
I'll get it, almost certain of that, but I would have been happy not having a character like Shockwave as part of the line. I'd much prefer getting the more iconic guys, like Roadblock, Gung Ho, Flint, etc. Deckard: i wonder if they are gonna make him in ruban camo or his more classic look? if he looks good him and beachhead may be the first two ss joe i get. and beachead better have a removeable mask or alternate head. teemu8: I dont think this confirms Shockwave coming anytime soon just because they mentioned it...its not even in development yet...Beachhead is coming and possibly zartan...and there are much more others characters that need to be made before shockwave...he's on the loooong list...but I doubt he's coming anytime soon...and the way sideshow moves...it will be 2020 before we get him Konigstiger: Quote:

Sure. Next you're going to tell me Nemesis Immortal isn't his original name either. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go play with my vintage Data Frame and Sgt. Thunderblast figures. snakeplissken1: To correct a few ppl, i've collected from SideShow Collectibles this far with all the G.I.Joe line, so far and SS are known for changing thier product so they might change Firefly. As for the Cobra Trooper, the Cobra Officer, and the new Cobra Sniper all do varie thier heads, they aren't the same heads, they are sculpted differant, for example the Cobra Trooper has more wrinkled face around his eyes, and 2 wide open eyes. The Cobra Officer has one wide open eye and one that looks half closed, like he's sqinting. I also can tell from the pictures of the Cobra Sniper's eyes are asians eyes. That's just a few differances i have noticed with the SS G.I.Joe line. Djinvasor: i hope this one is on point.. Mr. Gone: ****attention sideshow*******
make him exactly like the vintage figure (cloth mask!!!), people will love you for it...trust me. Aladdin Sane: I don't know why people are getting their panties in a twist over Firefly - he looks awesome. The only complaint I do have is that I wish his mask was camouflage too, but other than that, there's little to complain about here.
As for Shockwave (or Shock Wave or Shockblast), I doubt we'll see him in the next year. I still would rather see more major characters first...Flint, Scarlett, Destro and Baroness need to be done before he gets made. snakeplissken1: Well I think that's what most ppls complaints are about, is the camo on Firefly's face mask, i personally have no compaints on Firefly, not even not having camo on his face mask. I relize this is SideShow Collectibles randion of these charactors, and that they will be doing other randions of these charactors, so don't expect this to be the last and only Firefly. Shockwave is one of my favorites, but bottom line- he's SWAT.
Other companies like Dragon, bbi and Hot Toys have been producing SWAT guys for years.
I think a lot of you Tankers who didn't like their take on Firefly are going to be disappointed with SS's take on Shockwave.
He's just gonna be a SWAT guy.
Like I said, I like SWAT, and I like Shockwave, but anyone who thinks he's going to be colored exactly like the original is kidding themselves. bluemax151: Quote:

I'd have more faith if this was Hot Toys. IF Shockwave is released and IF I think he looks good I will not hesitate to buy one and I have not and will not buy anything else from this line. I'm a lot more particular about my considerations in the 1/6 scale these days. They take up a lot of real estate so they have to be totally and absolutely awesome for me to jump on board.
I'm not really sure why it's inappropriate for people to voice their concern that characters are re imagined. Why even bother licensing if you're going to change everything about the characters appearance? Ultimate Soldier did fairly well with their Villains line without needing to rely on a tie in. Sure eventually we all know how that went but really brick and mortar is just no way to distribute quality 1/6 scale anyway. DPrime: Quote:

Besides, Sideshow is close enough to Hot Toys quality, with the GI Joe line especially. It keeps getting better (and more expensive too, but still not close to HT prices...). DPrime: Quote:

So far, the only Sideshow Trooper I have in hand is the original - I'll be getting the Officer and Sniper at some point, no doubt, but I haven't been able to check out the differences first hand yet.
All in all, I suspect that Shockwave will look awesome. I don't think they'll screw him up, that's for sure. It's pretty much a given he'll be in V1 style - with the balaclava, as we all know by now they love doing the easy balaclava head sculpts (in this case - good!). He'll probably have accessories like the 25th version - gas mask and helmet in addition to his old cap, suppressed Uzi w/folding stock (although I could see them giving him an MP-5 instead) and pistol. Probably have tear gas grenades/flashbangs, couple of frags, and maybe door charges or something else that a SWAT officer might carry (pepper spray? collapsible baton?). Oh yeah, and his big f-off knife. I hope we start getting proper backpacks soon, he could probably use one.
The exclusive will probably be one of those "extra" accessories that didn't come with the original figure, like the helmet/gas mask or a SWAT/police item of some kind. They might go the "big" exclusive route too (like the Ark with the Toht figure from Raiders of the Lost Ark), and have one of those door kicker robots they use nowadays, reminiscient of the one that came with his later figure.
I think the big question is whether he'll be in his V1-style blue cammies, or Night Force style. I'd probably prefer blue, but wouldn't mind either way. Anyone hoping for yellow flecks (not sure who would want them...) will probably be disappointed... bluemax151: Quote:

It keeps getting better (and more expensive too, but still not close to HT prices...). | I'd pay it if it looked as good as the rest of their merchandise. See with Hot Toys you'd get a superior sculpted face though (if applicable). I have the Silken Floss and she is absolutely magnificent. Blows pretty much anything I've ever owned or seen in over 30 years in 1/6 scale out of the water. The boxes are really nice too but who cares about that :-P
I'll give Side Show credit for their Cobra Commander though. I was really tempted on that one. I already have too many CCs though (even the old Hasbro 12in). Shockwave on the other hand is a cool character I can count the number of renditions I own on 1 hand. Beckley: Quote:

I agree with the previous poster, why both with the license? I suspect Shockwave will be no different. Sideshow close to Hot Toys quality? LOL. Pretty funny. Then I realized you were serious. All jokes aside, Sideshow does not compare to Hot Toys. The Pro body sucks. The TT body is nice (the slim is awesome). The face sculpts on Hot Toys looks amazing. Sideshow...well...they are just ok. Same style sculpts you got when the figures were 50-60. Clothes? Hot Toys has better fit and materials. The Cobra Soldier has ill fitting sleeves and pants. The design of the collar makes him look like he has no neck. Looks like a shampoo bottle. You know...Head and Shoulders. Sideshow has a way to go before they can compare to Hot Toys. Look at Sideshow figures on the secondary market. They are like parachutes. They stay up for a little bit, but they always come down. dawingster: Quote:

SS shouldn't make Shockwave/blast too generic... it dilutes the GI Joe brand when they do. gijoevscobra4ever: I'm down for a Shockwave and Beachhead. I never really liked these big doll Joes until SS came out with SE. Dirtbag: Quote:

You know I kind of dig that Firefly but I bet they did that in order to later released another version with camouflage balaclava.
I'm still wondering about Zartan if they ever going to release him. |
