    Sideshow Cobra Officer Review

Sideshow has once again graced us with perfection. The Cobra Officer has just started shipping to fans all over the world and fans are eating him up. There is a rich history with the Officer as his roots go all the way back to 1982. As a child, most of us 80,s kids had him when he first came out. He was the original bad guy that the Joes fought long hard battles with in the back yard. We all called him a blue shirt and we all enjoyed playing with him. Hasbro also had a basic troop that came out the same year. The difference between the two was the silver cobra sigil on the chest.

Now that the Officer has received the SS treatment, how does he compare? Is it the best figure in the line or is it a miss? Hmmm, these are tough questions and what I am about to say might offend some hard core fans. I would say its a significant improvement over Snake Eyes. There, I said it. Now before people start yelling blasphemy let me explain.

This figure is a new sculpt. This figure has TIGHT joints! This figure has easily removable accessories and did I say the joints are tight??
Now some might think that the price tag is too high but it is worth the buck’s big time. The look has been changed a bit though. He no longer sports the silver logo or the black web gear but he is still an officer. I know many fans are aware of a character called Scar Face. He had a significant role in the early Marvel run and Hasbro did give us an unofficial Scar Face back in 2008 with a comic 2 pack release. I do feel that this figure was inspired by the original character and the comic 2 pack figure.

I had a blast setting this figure up and if you do collect the Sideshow stuff, the joints on this bad boy are tight! Yes, I have mentioned this a few times already but trust me, it makes a huge difference. As a collector, I have well over 50 SS figures and most suffer from loose joints. Star Wars is the worst and as time progressed, Sideshow learned from past mistakes. This figure release proves just that. He might not have the original colors but this figure impressed me to no end.

Here is the list of the accessories he comes with:
    • Fully articulated Pro male body V1.0 with 30+ points of articulation
    • Cobra Officer portrait with facemask
    • Officer helmet
    • Shirt with COBRA insignias and Officer Rank Bars
    • Pants
    • Boots
    • Detailed belt
    • Smersh rig with backpack
    • AK 74 bayonet with sheath
    • AK 74 with silencer and mag
    • AK 74 Aim Point Sight
    • Kneepads
    • Handgun with magazine and leg holster
    • 2 Canteens with fabric cover
    • 3 sets of interchangeable gloved hands
    • 12-inch display base with COBRA logo

If you missed this figure I would suggest the wait list ASAP. This feature works and I have been able to score some sold out pieces from doing just that. It only takes a second and is well worth the time it takes. My rating is a solid 10. COOOBBBBRRRRAAAA!!

ah that answers my questions I was wondering what was under the mouth cloth . was it a face or that ski mask.
WhiteHawk:
Actually the joints of the figure varies, 2 out of 6 of my troopers has loose joints. The silencer looks weird but overall nice review!
cobralalalala!:
Well, all I can say is I love this figure. I can't wait to get my Sideshow Joe display up in my house.
Frank Talltree:
Does the pouch on his webgear come torn?
zenfakor:
    Looks nice.
Mr. Gone:
i give it a 8.5 out of 10, the face sculpt is amazing. SIDESHOW has top-notch Customer Service, probably the best i've dealt with ever. These dolls are nothing short of super.

note: Storm Shadow gets a 9 from me, outstanding figure.
snakeplissken1:
And don't forget the face parts of the head are differant sculpts, the part that isn't the mask under the mask, the eyes. It's differant a differant sculpt from the Cobra Trooper. The Cobra Sniper will also have a differant head, his eyes are asians eyes.
NeoDragonKnight:
Its pretty cool, faithful to the original and detailed. As usual for SS stuff, the price point is a little to high for me. If it were cheaper Id probably get one or 2 SS figures.

No.....must have torn when I was setting him up for the shots.
TripleCP:
I'd give the trooper a nine, but only a seven for the "Officer," as he's basically a comic-inspired rehash of the Trooper. I'm hoping there's a silver sigil Officer in the works, with different webgear and a raised detail chevron on the helmet. Maybe some binoculars and/or a mapcase or something along those lines.

    Nice review

    Thanks.
CURRAHEE CHRIS:
Thanks for the review. This is the only figure I am going to pass on simply because of the red (well, the Crimson CC as well). Perhaps I will get him at a later date but the other figures look better to me.

Curious but what does Sideshow typically charge for S&H in the US? Just curious for pricing purposes.

    Kindest regards
    CC
