I know there was an arcade game a long time ago. I've seen vids for it. and it looks sweet.
For the longest time though....I just wasnt interested in playing the ROC game. One day I decided.....screw it. I'll give it a shot. I must say.....ROC the game is actually pretty damn fun. Takes me back to when I used to play Contra. Its nothing but running shooting and blowing shit up. Simple concept. and Its taking plots from the cartoon to further the story. Weather dominater's in it, along with the MASS device. Some of the unlockable characters are badass! sure there are some set backs.... and everyone's got an assigned weapon. But once you get used to the game play...wow. a good ol fashioned run and shoot.

I loved the arcade version. It was best when you could get 3 of your friends to jump on for some serious carnage!

I agree...I really enjoyed it. My guess is most reviewers were giving it terrible reviews based on the initial 50 dollar price tag and the fact that they thought it was a movie cash in. most reviews I read I don't even think mentioned the mass device or weather dominator were in it. but I do think one would have to really like gi joe to probably take interest.

I just hope we get a better game with this movie. The classic games were fun, but the RoC game was weak, really weak. I'd love to see a well done, fun Joe game.

I never played that G.I. Joe arcade game. It looks awesome!
The ROC game was not a great game by any means but it was fun to play, especially with a friend. It has an old school "Contra" like feel to it with decent replayability to unlock such things as file cards and the original PSAs. It definitely did not justify the initial high price tag (how many games actually do?) but you can find the game fairly cheap nowadays. |

I practically had rough sex with my NES! And for the life of me, I can't remember the G.I.Joe games.
I DO remember the arcade game though--which I think used a track ball right? I remember digging that game and being pretty good at it from hours of playing......Cabal. That's right, Cabal f'ing ruled! |

A free roam game in the vein of Mercenaries, Far Cry, Red Faction, etc. would be awesome.
You need missions and side missions galore. You need to be able to drive or pilot every Joe vehicle in the Joe verse, play as multiple characters and explore all the classic settings like the Pit, the Flagg, Springfield, Cobra Island, Terror Drome, etc. Last but not least, there has to be replayability with a good multiplayer system where you can have classic deathmatches, team deathmatches, capture the flag, etc. But a new twist or two like being able to pilot Skystrikers and Rattlers for dog fights or MOBATs and HISSes for tank duels.
