Simple- tell us what you'd want your ideal GI Joe game to be like. Include some details. Be reasonable, but throw out what you'd like to see!
Mine: What is it like that we've played before? After putting a lot of thought into this, I like the idea of a GI Joe game similar to Mercenaries, Crackdown, and GTA. These games had a lot of fun ways to kill time and replay value. Of course, GI Joes wouldn't mow down innocent people, but an open "battlefield" with active patrols and roaming convoys would be awesome. I also chose this because I couldn't imagine playing a next-gen GI Joe game without having both the option to fight on the ground, in the air, and on the water. And the vehicles are just as much a part of GI Joe lore as the characters. It would be great to hijack a HISS and plow over BATS, or grab a few greenshirts to man the gun turret on an Awe-Striker. What characters would you have? There's plenty of debate here, and of course we'd have the main group of original favorites- not to mention unlockables, downloadables, and bonus characters. Different characters would have different skills- some handle aircraft better, and some are great in close combat. All the characters would have their proficiencies and be "better" for those tasks than some, but the characters can also buy points to "level up" their skills- it would be perfectly reasonable to have Snake Eyes be an awesome sniper at a certain point in the game. The enemy characters would be scattered about in different areas, and accepting certain missions would allow you to confront those characters and fight them. One option would be to kill those members of Cobra high command, or to capture them instead. Capturing the characters allows for them to be used in "Free Mode" and yields additional missions- or, the Cobra Character could escape and kill a valuable member of the Joe team, thus altering some missions (and perhaps reducing access to that member or his services). You may very well have to chase him down through the PIT, or perhaps fight off a rescue attempt. The prisoner could even be interrogated for information- such as the location of certain items, enemy missions, or hidden enemy characters. But what if it doesn't have one of my favorites? The game would feature a customizable character mode. This can be used to alter the appearance of current characters (and do repaints!), or create new ones altogether. Scattered throughout the battlefields and on missions are certain items that can be used in the character creator; such as hats, masks, helmets, jackets, backpacks, vests, and other items. Ideally, you should be able to get as close as possible to your favorite Joe, or make your own. Not to mention, downloadable content is a big part of gaming... so chances are, you could see him later if you don't make him. What areas would we see? Since the battlefields are open city-like areas, they would be scattered around the globe. Trucial Abysmia, Sierra Gordo, Trans-Carpathia, The Everglades, Springfield, and even Cobra Island. Also, the PIT is where the Joes get their missions and deploy to the different areas, and there are events that occur at the PIT. Joes can always return to an area they have unlocked to seek out any items, missions, or enemies they have missed. Some missions would even require this. What about vehicles? A lot of Joe classics would return, possibly even with advanced versions of them. Any vehicle is accessible, provided the Joe you are using knows how to operate that vehicle. Joes can receive training from vehicle drivers and pilots to have access to those vehicles. Vehicles with gun turrets can use NPC greenshirts (and Cobra forces in free mode) to fire them. Some missions require the Joes to man gun turrets and accompany a Joe driver. What sort of Cobra forces? The classic Cobra Troopers would be the basic ground troops armed with Cobra SMG's. They're weak and attack in mobs, sometimes even retreating when the battle turns against them. Cobra Vipers would be a stronger infatry force, armed with an assault rifle capable of firing on full auto. They are more armored than blueshirts, and can be dangerous in groups. Cobra Snipers fight from afar and are no stronger than Troopers, but can deal a lot of damage. They tend to evade when discovered and seek cover. Cobra BATS are extremely durable and can take a lot of damage. They can even withstand being blown in half and will crawl after the Joes and continue to attack. They explode when they are shot in the back. Range Vipers patrol in wilderness areas on foot looking for a fight. They use heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and assault rifles. Alley-Vipers patrol the urban areas and are heavily armored. The respond to attacks on other Cobra troops in force. The use SMG's and are extremely capable combatants. There are other types, of course. But these are just some of the main types of troops. Cobra high command NPC's are also around- some are on missions as mini-bosses, bosses, or hidden bosses. Go ahead and tell me what you think about this, or tell me about you own ideal game. |

Wow... nothing else? Jesus. I spent $3.00 on energy drinks and a drive through the country for this idea.

I totally agree with your idea. I loved the first Mercinaries game but the second one not so much. Seemed a little rushed. Althought the character designs were a little better.
I want a game that mixes MGS, Rainbow Six (the original on the PC-with mission planning) Ghost Recon and a little Halo thrown in. I want to plan my mission from insertion to extraction. I want to choose my method of play. If I want a seaborn stealth insertion or a run and gun urban battle I want to choose how I do it. I'd like to be able to switch characters in the four man squad, with four squads. I'd be agreeable to 3rd person so you can see when you are in cover. I want to pick who goes on a mission by specialty and mission requirements. I want a story like Modern Warfare (gripping and epic and not afraid to pull punches). Just some ideas and game mechanics I liked. |

Call of Duty with Cobra and Joe Factions. Online Multiplayer, and all. Someone started a thread about the very idea last week I think.

I like the Mercenary or Saints Row, GTA, Just Cause type of scenario. Ability to customize your character between various version of their outfits as well as a create a Joe feature. Open world type of game with specific missions but I would love to explore different locales like Cobra Island on a recon mission and several different places like mountains, arctic, jungle, desert, underwater, flying, etc.
Have the classic vehicles you can drive and operate, a co-op method and perhaps even control a four man team. What would be cool is you could have the option to go solo, or choose up to a four man team ala Marvel Alliance. I would want your character to come with their specific weapons....ie Snake-Eyes would have his Uzi, Katana, trench knife, side arm, grenades, and throwing stars for example. The ability to carry one large gun and multiple other weapons like Saints Row here would do the trick. Just like those games you could find other weapons as you go along and stock pile them in your footlocker and switch out on the fly. You could get level up bonus for teams just like MA. I would also would want the ability to play as Cobra as well. The same levels (open ended world) but different missions if you play as Cobra or Joe. |

I like the idea of collecting weapons on the battlefield and bringing them back and using them later, and even checking out better ones from the armory (provided you have enough Flagg Points from the previous missions). |

I'd like to see a MMO
Think WoW/CoH type of thing, but you can make your own custom Joe and Cobra characters |
