Wow, absolutely no Descent love here. You cannot claim to master the FPS until you master Descent.
Its ironic that this thread popped up, because Ive been retro gaming lately...gone torrent happy and Ive been playing Quake 1 & 2, Descent 1-3, and I have Heretic 2 DLing as we speak. Anybody mention Blood?!? I was scanning through going "Does anyone even know what Blood is!? I don't see it mentioned at all!" I'm currently playing through Blood 2 again, I sadly no longer have the first one, I'd really like to play it again (Don't even know if it works with Vista or not) I just remembered Decent last night while looking for Doom on ebay (for my dad ) |

EXHUMED on the Sega Saturn (and later, the PS1).
If anyone played this, did you get all the 'dolls' that granted the power of flight? I did!

This game was the game that let developers and players alike see that a FPS can actually be successful on a console. I spent so many nights playing this with my buddies back in the day.

Ah yes! I tend to forget about that one in the wake of KILLZONE 2, but RFOM is brilliant, especially when you realise it was a PS3 launch title.
The gameplay is so smooth and easy to get into, while the visuals are very atmospheric. Love the jeep section too! Pity the sequel lost all of that atmosphere... it was okay, but I prefer the first game by a wide margin.

Huge fan of SOCOM (all of them)-while technically a 3rd person shooter, you can swith to 1st person. Also dig Counterstrike on the computer.
