Every Xmas my Father In Law takes us around Walmart (:() to pick out gifts for ourselves. Finding no LEGO (or indeed, anything else worth buying) I picked up Dragon Age: Inquisition (PC), just so I could have *something* to open on Xmas morning.
I'm really finding it difficult to get into. It feels very on-rails, the camera control is hideous, combat is clunky and the whole ''no health regen outside of camps/potions'' makes it feel really monotonous (it comes off as a ''feature'' designed to require a lot of back-tracking to pad gameplay time...) I know I shouldn't be so judgmental after just a few hours but I need to know if it gets any better. I have other stuff I could be doing and I feel like this isn't making the best use of my time...

Its really an awesome game, and franchise for that matter. I have it for both the PS3 and PS4, and while the 3 is great, the graphics are so much better on the 4 (obviously.) When Bio Ware made this installment, they made the game more to push the gamers strategy. its alot of back and forth between Heaven the Missions, then once Heaven gets destroyed then it becomes Skyhold. Once your there you can add to the amount of healing potions you can carry. But you Start out with Solas and he has a revival spell.

The lack of a proper manual doesn't help. I dunno, I think Skyrim broke every other game for me... I'll give it another shot (I remember not enjoying Mass Effect either until I ''got'' it) if I get the time.

Dont apologize, I know alot of PCers wanna live and die by that PC is soooo much better then console, but its all just preference. Give the game a chance. I was actually the opposite, I played DA:O and DAII before I ever played Skyrim and other than the massive scope of the land, it is lacking.

My game time has been pretty limited this week but I'll maybe see about giving it another try.

I finally got my head around this not being an MMO/freeform-style RPG and it's actually a lot of fun (even if the combat/camera stuff is horrible.)

I love DA quite a bit. It has moments where you have to munch on some grindage for a while, but overall it's a good game.
I will say, it definitely plays better for me with a controller. I tried it on PC, struggled with the control. Luckily, I didn't pay for that one, I was playing on my brother's copy while we visited over a holiday. I bought it when I got my Xbox One. Oddly enough, though, I played it mostly sort of on PC, with the remote play to PC from X1. The controller made it much more enjoyable. |
