The Phantom Pain trailer, screens are figments of imagination | Joystiq
Okay so apparently Ground Zeroes and MGS5 are completely different games. So what is Phantom Pain? Who the hell knows. Looks interesting though. Might be another game with Big Boss/Naked Snake. |

So lame they are not bringing back David Hayter to voice Snake. I wonder if they are gonna get someone to mimic his voice or just change the voice all together. I always thought David Hayter's Solid Snake voice achieved Iconic status.

I'm dragging this one back up... I've been playing this a lot lately, and to me i relate it to G.I. Joe in some aspects. It's setting is the '80s, and has a kind of futuristic '80s feel to it sometimes like Joe did. Anyways, was wondering if anyone else kinda had the same feeling. I always think about how awesome a version of this game would be in a Joeverse. You don't have to be super stealth in this game like the past games, you can go in guns blazing if you want.

Been playing this lately too. Definitly got a Joe vibe to some of it. Especially when you have the sneaking suit on and have DD the wolf as your buddy.

Love MGS!! and it has to be in some small part the gijoe similarities I've had several stories with joes with MGS counterparts, and it would be so awesome to have Gi Joe characters in a games like this!
Dr Rex with Indie's hat and Zred Skull's coat make for a Joeverse Skullface. |

I played MGS5 and I couldn't even make it through the tutorial. I get really frustrated by games that have unstoppable cutscenes. And this one went on for like 20 minutes. Seriously. It was the most boring fucking thing on Earth. And then when you finally got to play, you spend the next ten minutes just watching Snake literally drag himself across the floor. After about 30 minutes of this bullshit I was so frustrated and angry that I just gave up.
Seriously, I don't know what is so hard about this. When I get a game, I want to PLAY THE FUCKING GAME, not watch a movie. If I wanted to watch a movie, I would have bought a movie. And I see lots of reviews that talk about how it is like the best game ever, but I don't know how that possible, because I couldn't even tolerate it for 30 minutes. |

^ Felt the same way, but having just spent 300+ hours (all offline) since buying it on Black Friday... it is imho the best game I ever played... if you include Ground Zeroes as the first level. So you get 3 levels... Camp Omega from Ground Zeroes, Afghanistan and then Africa.
IMO aside from the intro it is perfectly paced... first you start with crap weapons and a horse, then you get D-dog, then Quiet, then your own little robot walker. And once you get the Gunsmith and can customize your weapons that's when the game really hits its stride. The story is kinda crap, but for me MGSV is about your relationship with your buddies... D-dog and Quiet.
