Goodbye, Electronic Gaming Monthly...

EGM will publish its final issue this month. :(

It's definitely not surprising - just another victim of a paper-and-ink product folding under the internet - and I haven't even read it since I was a kid, back in the 90s...but it's still a bummer to see a staple publication of its kind pass on. RIP, EGM, and thanks for all the entertainment (especially all the classic April Fool's pranks).

I didn't even know they still made this mag... I used to read it back in the 90s right when Playstation and 3DO and stuff like that were the pinnacle of technology...

Pretty soon, all print will be dead. We'll have novels, but the publication of periodicals will eventually die.

I used to buy EGM too but what can I say, they have nothing that the Internet cannot offer anymore.

EGM > GamePro.

Although GamePro did have its one tv show, as shitty as it was.

I used to love EGM. The issues would get read from cover to cover within an hour after receiving it in the mail.

EGM was the bomb for me in my video gaming days... this is sad, even if everything can be found on gamespot these days. I had a subscription to this mag for like 5-6 years. A great book.

Aw man, I collected the 1st 47 issues of the gaming mag since its inception, along with EGM2/eXpert Player, Mega Play and the Super Nes Buyers guides.

I'll miss those reviewers that consisted of the enigmatic Sushi-X
to the jolly Dan "the shoe" Hsu.

Those were great times during the 16 bit era, including their historic prank of "Sheng Long" in a Street Fighter II game, an April Fools joke that got everyone worldwide surprised, yet dumbfounded. LOL.

But this time, it's for real, the Ziff Davis publishing has been sold to the UGO.com franchise.

As reality sets in.... it's the sign of the times, even with the current state of the economy, things are never the same.

Just as I prepare to hold my glass for a toast to what I think,
no....... "I believe" is the best Videogame mag of the century ever!

Here's to you EGM!

We'll miss ya!
