for any of you who have played this, would it appeal to someone who doesn't like RPG's. I've read it is an RPG but the gameplay looks pretty free like a first person shooter. any help is appreciated.

It is an open world story based 1st or 3rd person shooter that is played out in real time (not turn based). The RPG elements are leveling up as you progress and interactions with the environment and it's inhabitants. There is also a karma system that affects how you are treated by other characters.

Fallout is great! It is a rpg in most aspects, but it is not turned based. Just be prepared to put some time into it. Target had it on sale for 39.99.

Fallout 3 is potentially the best game I have ever played my whole life. If you give a damn about video games you must buy this game. I have wasted days of my life playing this game non-stop and I've beat it a lot of times and each time it was a different gaming experience.

I'm playing it now along with Fable 2. Fallout 3 uses an updated version of the Oblivion game engine. It's actually really cool. Try it out if you like 1st person shooter/RPG games.

I bought this game right after Christmas (right before it went on sale, d'oh!) and I really like it. I've been up until 3 am the last two nights playing it. My only difficulty is that I'm used to first-person combat on a pc, using a mouse to aim. Since I've just bought a console, I'm having a hell of a time aiming with the little stick on the ps3 controller (although the V.A.T.S. helps me out a lot). Hopefully I'll get used to it.
