I actually collect old NES games and such.
I probably play my NES a couple times a month when I have time (cause we all know that damn thing is like giving crack heads crack, lol). I have 2 of the NES top loader systems that I found in a weeks span back in 2004 or so. The systems even came with the dog bone controllers. When I show people most have never even seen the top loading NES system (came out late in the NES life cycle).

Here is something I posted on my myspace in a blog sometime last year. It does contain some racy language, so please be advised...
Call me nerdy if you want, but nothing is more fun than jamming to some old skool 80's tunes while I do work on my 8 bit grey beast! Since I'm floating down memory lane, here is a list of my personal favorites. Many a hour of my childhood were lost holed up in my room to these classics. 1. Mike Tyson's Punchout - You get to fight Mike Tyson in his prime in the comfort of you home without losing your ear. Nothing makes me feel better after a stressful day of work than beating the hell outta the likes of Piston Honda, Mr. Sandman, and Bald Bull (fuck the idea of a power glove though). 2. Super Mario Brothers 3 - Fred Savage and cast wouldn't lie to you about a quality video game experience would they? Go toYou Tube and find the world record of some japenese guy doing work to this game cause it might be the most ballin thing I've ever seen. 3. Legend of Zelda - If you can beat me and my buddies record of 2 hours and 45 minutes, I'll probably salute your shorts. If not, get ready for an awful waffle from Donkey Lips. 4. Tetris - Who knew a game involving stacking blocks could be so fun (sorry jenga). Play it like it should be played though, get shit faced drunk on vodka and see who is the real Russian mind strategist (Russian roulette round is optional). 5. Contra - Everyone knows the Konami code, but play it straight up and see how far you get. As a gambling man, I'll take the under on you beating the second level. 6. Metroid - Samus is a chick, didn't see that one cumming if you know what I mean! On a side note, Mother Brain is a real bitch and this game has been known to cause space madness (like that ren and stimpy episode). 7. Final Fantasy - RPG's or role playing games for those not in the know should come with notices that read, warning: playing these types of games will decease your chances of getting laid and kill your social life. 8. Tecmo Super Bowl - You don't need a thousand plays and 8 years of head coach experience to play a video game (Go fuck thyself John Madden). All you really need is 4 plays and Barry Sanders. 9. Mega Man 2 - Robots were cool back in the day (Terminator, Jetson's) before Will Smith's shit bomb of a movie I-Robot. 10. Kirby's Adventure - Kirby sucks and blows his way to superstardom much like a young porn star. Honorable Mentions: Castlevania, Double Dragon, River City Ransom, and Super Dodge Ball

Dude, Blaster Master was a great game!! I hated the top loading NES (I only have the original spring loaded one, but my younger cousin had the new one) because it was only RF and didn't have any composite outputs.

Awhile back I sold a large Nes collection, but we still have a nice deck here, with around 20 games I think. Just stuff like Ninja Gaiden, Pac-Man, Batman and some others. I also have Ninja Gaiden for Pc-Engine. Hudson retooled the game, so that version ends up being the best of part 1, even above the port on the trilogy cart on Snes.
Also have LifeForce/aka Salamander on Pc-Engine. Its pretty much like the arcade, other then voices missing. Still though, the Nes port was way nice for its time, for the system. I need to pick it up again just for the sake of having it on Nes. |
