The Great Console Debate

Alright guys, here's the deal. I basically have $200 to spend and I noticed in some of the Black Friday leaked ads that there is a bundle for the xbox 360 that is the 4 gig console plus the Kinect and I am seriously tempted to try and get it. Especially since I know my wife and daughter would love the Kinect. But I thought I would pose the question to you guys and get some feedback. Should I get a 360 or a PS3? Which one do you like better and why?

Inquiring minds want to know.

The Kinect is fun but it's got limited usage. The PS3 has the move (which is more similar to the Wii but uses a camera to track your movement). It really depends on what kind of games you like. Xbox has Gears of War and Forza. PS3 has Metal Gear, Uncharted, Infamous, plus the PS3 plays Blu Ray and 3D Blu Ray. Not to mention PS3 has free online gaming and is back compatible (meaning it plays PS1 and 2 games). I prefer the PS3 but like I said it's all about preference. If you used to own a PS2 then you will probably like the PS3 better. If you had an X box then you'll probably prefer the 360.

the Wii we used for a few months, and prolly havnt touched for a year...

the PS3 is used almost everyday, and have never had a problem with it (knock on wood) but lately my boys have wanted an xbox, for some games that are not available for PS3. i started checking into it, and it sounds like xbox's are junk... i have heard many horror stories about the quality, so im sticking with the PS3

x-mas this year, we will add the ''move'' and the guns...should be fun

im a fan of the 360 myself, i have the newer version, its smaller and a lot quietter as well as the power brick is alot smaller too. I love all the games for the 360. most of all my friends have the 360 as well. kinect is alot of fun, especially if you have kids that will enjoy it more.


i had a PS3 at one point but was forced to sell it when i was laid off. So now im back on my feet and hopefully santa will bring me one this year, i really only want it as a blu-ray player. the only game i really want is the motorstorm series.

ive been through 4 xbox 360s all fell victim to the "red rings of death" so the failure rate is pretty high but that was for the original ones, not the new "slim" ones

if i remember right, you can surf the web using the PS3 like a computer and its free online. The only catch is your credit card might get hacked

This^^^Xbox also has Halo & Fable and PS3 has God of War.

The biggest selling item of the PS3 is the integrated blu-ray player. Game library wise both systems will go toe-to-toe. Yeah, PS3 have God of War and Uncharted, but Xbox has Gears of War and HALO.

Also IMO the kinect is so much better and innovative than the PS3 Move. We have only begun the scratch the surface of what the kinect can do. And this Christmas, Star Wars Kinect is coming out.

So all in all, it is a matter of personal preference. Ideally you will have both since both system have their own strengths and bring something unique to the table.

The way I see it is the 360 is a gaming device. The Playstation plays games, Blu Ray and has full internet capability for free. So the PS3 is more versatile but you may not even be interested in those extra features. Go to Best Buy and play the demos they have set up. This will at least give you a feel for the systems.

I bought my PS3 a few years ago mostly because I am just so used to the PS controller since I had a PS1 & PS2. I thought the built-in bluray player was cool, but I have bought 0 blurays so far. LOL. And PSN being free is also cool... but my PS3 has never been hooked up to the internet. LOL.

I read online that the new xbox 360's failure rate has been reduced to 10% now... the very first ones at launch had a failure rate of about 80%. LOL.

If you are just a casual gamer I would just buy the cheapest 360 kinect bundle and some kiddie Disney or Lego games... good enough IMO.
