My Jabbas Palace set arrived in the mail yesterday. First impressions:
Despite all the crap that we (rightfully) give Walmart, my package arrived on time, the Box is mint, and the two carded figures inside the set are also minty. The Walls look really cool and have great detail. You can put the walls together in multiple ways, and you could potentially buy more if you wanted to and build onto it (or maybe they will release a different set to connect with this one). Eventhough I didn't really need another Han, or another Carbonite block, this Han in carbonite has a magnet built in that attached it to the wall, and the Han figure comes with wrist and ankle cuffs. The Carbonite block can be raised or lowered with a switch in the back. There are grates on the floor where you can add/install lighting if you choose too. I haven't opened the Ree Yees figure yet. So far, very pleased with this. |

Joe collectors also bear at least some of the responsibility for club prices in part because they weren't willing to buy Joes at retail unless they were marked down.
Yes, it was a viscous circle with us getting endless repaints at retail, but even before it got to that point, every wave had folks wondering aloud when it would show up at Ross or Big Lots. And everything is cyclical. The Vintage SW series line died off once, and - considering the number of peg warmers out there right now - may die off again. But even so, the world market for Star Wars dwarfs Joe by orders of magnitude. I can only speak to my own experiences. I enjoyed the 25th line for it’s time but the last waves felt rushed and had to many repaints. I read that they had to kill the 25th line to accommodate the contract with Paramount? I wish they could have kept them both running concurrently. I wasn’t a fan of the movie lines save the ARAH items that we got smuggled into the waves. I get the impression that it wasn’t that fans lost interest in Joe but rather Hasbro did. Quote:

I just wish new figures actually showed up in stores. We still have pegs full of Rogue One.

Them: well there’s eight in the store but they could be anywhere if they’re not out on the peg, they’re just laying around. Me: Right. On one peg there should be 8 Stromtroopers plus the other five figures equaling 48 figures. Does add it up to you? Them: well this system doesn’t always update. Right. A barcode app system doesn’t update. So what we’re really running into is people are either too stupid or too lazy to actually put out figures, so yes we still have Jan and Snoke hanging there.

I broke down and bought a sealed case of the 6 retro figures for double the retail cost ($120 shipped). My first SW figures owned since childhood!
I figure I’ll sit on these for a bit and see if they are indeed sold more widely in the fall. I also hope they plan to sell the other 6, completing the early bird 12. Maybe SW Force Day in OCT?

While Snoke being one of the worst pegwarmers in Star Wars history because the Last Jedi was basically an F-you to traditional star wars fans, it didn't help that every single figure in Vintage Collection Wave 1 was basically a re-release of the Walmart 3.75 People already owned those, and often had paid 4-5 bucks at clearance. Why should these people go buy them at $13? |

Yes this totally. I just tried a to get two Target ppl to find a retro collection storm trooper and got the same type of lame answer as last time. Except worse.
