This might be the one time I would encourage scalpers to get involved to make sure it gets made. The price will go up as the international demand is not being met currently.

Yeah..... uh, there's custom built Sand Crawlers and Cantinas pieces already available. A lot of the stuff Haslabs is saying they will sell has already been on the market for 500-600 bucks for years.

It would probably be a razor-thin profit margin, because they're gonna run right into the same problem Hasbro likely did when they looked at how they were going to do this project: You're probably tacking another $100 just for the shipping (even to Canada it's likely $50+). That's going to start pricing more and more of the folks overseas out of the game before you even tack on the Scalper's premium. Certainly there'll be some willing to pay, but probably not enough to make it worth the trouble unless you were the only game in town, and not competing with a bunch of other Scalpers that had the same idea. I wonder if a lot of folks will have buyers remorse like many did when they realized exactly how much room the 6" TIE fighter took up.

The Sail Barge looks like it'll have oodles of diorama value and a good bit of play value to boot. Or put another way...the Sail Barge can be a great display piece with a bunch of skiff guards and slave leia and bounty hunters and Jedi Luke and whatnot. The 6" TIE just...kinda sits there. |

Some people are thinking 6" scale vehicles with this type of sales model, but I just don't think 6" collectors in general care about vehicles. I mean, they probably wouldn't be 6" collectors if they did.
In my 6" collector mindset, I'm only interested in dioramas and open vehicles/mounts. The Black Series Landspeeder is probably the line beyond which you shouldn't be messing with vehicles at that scale. Basically, if a vehicle fully encloses a figure, it's probably not a fit for 6". Okay, maybe I'd go for a 1/12 scale Rancor... ---- Almost at 1200 orders. It's looking very likely that this will succeed. Last edited by SmokePants; 02-19-2018 at 02:14 PM.. |

when Hasbro announced the return of The Vintage Series I was excited. I’m a OT guy. I expected to see more ... um... vintage figures. While the Hoth Rebel soldier is a welcome addition for troop builders like myself, I was hoping for more unreleased OT figures or even more rereleases. More sail barge crew might have been synergetic. I guess that frees up more expendable cash for that sweet, sweet sail barge to go with my skiff (now I really need to grab that second skiff) and barge crew. If I had no interest in TFA and TLJ figures before, putting them in Kenner style packaging isn’t going to make me want them.

I think the revival of the Vintage Collection was just to breathe life back into the smaller scale and not make it seem like the Black Series "75% the Price but 25% the Amount of Plastic" Collection. In that sense, it's more or less the outlet of 1/18 fully articulated Star Wars figures, of which most will be related to the current movies. The OT figures will play a supporting role.
For 6" Black Series, I am fairly picky. I stick mostly to OT (but not to the degree of a completist). Beyond that, I buy Rogue One, because they're very similar to OT designs, and Expanded Universe, because they tend to be the coolest looking. I steer clear of Prequel characters and the modern trilogy. But with 4", my tastes are much more eclectic. I'll buy a small Kylo Ren or Young Han Solo or Fur-lined Stormtrooper, just because. So I don't really mind that the new Vintage Collection is going heavy on non-OT stuff. |

Yeah, setting the stage for future projects is really why I'm backing it. I don't really care about that execution scene, but I think the barge will work more generically as a big ass ship for 1/18 figures.
I'd like to see a super premium Death Star playset, Bespin playset, Imperial Shuttle, and Sandcrawler. Pass on the Ewok Village, though.

Anyone know if any of the SW collectors boards have set up a process for US collectors to help out international collectors get one at cost plus shipping, without inflated scalping prices?
SW has a large global fan base and while the shipping costs may be probhibative, anyone willing to pay it should be aided in ordering one, just for the sake of making Haslabs and the initial offering a success.
