Has anyone ever noticed that the paint apps on Hasbro's female head sculpts always seem worse than the ones on the male head sculpts?
The reason why I'm bringing this up is due to the fact that I finally found the Marvel Universe Kitty Pryde figure, but I was so disapointed once I saw her face. Have you seen the ugly mug on this figure? It's horrible. It actually reminded me of how I felt when I first saw the ROC Cover Girl and Scarlett figures. Some of the other female figures in the Marvel Universe line are just as bad, like the Black Widow and Jean Grey for instance. As far as Joes go I don't think that I've seen a female figure with a head that I've liked since the first 25th Anniversary Scarlett was released. Like I mentioned before, the ROC figures of Cover Girl and Scarlett were horrible and looked nothing like the actresses portraying them. The Baroness figure was ok untill you removed her glasses. As for Resolute, Scarlett was once again a mess and the Baroness looked like Elvira. Even female Star Wars figures suffer the same fate. I remember way back when the POTF2 figures first came out. Carrie Fisher was so upset with the likeness of her figure that she asked them to change it. Now her figures have gotten better over the years, but they still do not accurately reflect her likeness. They funny thing is that when it comes to male figures they seem to capture the likeness of the actors who portrayed them much better, as well as the comic or cartoon character drawings that they are modeled after. If you look at most Han Solo or Indiana Jones figures you can tell right away that they look like Harrison Ford. How about the ROC Ripcord figures? They look just like Marlon Wayans. In my opinion the best ROC head sculpt which really captured the actor's likeness was the General Hawk figures. The head totally looked like Dennis Quaid. Now if they can get these male figures to look pretty much like their counterparts why can't they do the same with the female figures as well?

100% agree. It's sad, actually. Every time I show my wife my female joe figures she always makes the same comments and we laugh together over it. Other toy lines seem to get female heads right. I remember the Pirates of the Caribbean female figures' heads, the ones based on the actress Keira Knightley. They looked amazing, female, just like the real-life actress, and actually beautiful. I still use some of those heads for my joe female customs.

Never had a problem with the paint apps. I have had issues with the sculpting.

of the Kitty pride figs I've run across one was great!
BUT the other had the one eye painted good the other on the cheek but i can say the same for the male figure going around right now beach head (whys he look so worried) and Capt' America just blueish blurs for eyes. Hasbro seems to always run into this . Star wars seems to be good (but that could be do to the fact Lucas film has a close hand in everything that they own)Maybe marvel will take more of an interest or disney might, as for joes thats Hasbros so I dont see much hope other than repainting everything i buy |

I think that most of the RoC female head sculpts were decent, but they were killed by bad paint apps. Anyone who doubts that statement should take a look at this custom by Liquidisk - http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...over-girl.html.
Note that he says he did resculpt the way that the hair frames the face, but the face sculpt is untouched. You can argue that this is a single custom and the factory figures are mass-produced, but if Hasbro had managed paint apps like this, I'd have bought even more of them. |

The only Hasbro female head sculpt that is perfect to me is Agent Helix PERIOD.
