Suppose that I wanted to make my own action figure line. I had my own drawings done. What toy manufacturers are there that can take this from start to end in production including making a mold casting the figure and painting him>

In all seriousness this link is for a Toy Manufacturer listing I dug up...
Listing of Manufacturers and Wholesalers of Action Figures You know that the tooling cost 10's of thousands of dollars for a mass production action figure. The production cost will be astronomical, especially for small runs. Let me know how it turns out, I wouldn't mind seeing an action figure of myself in your line. |

I've checked into this in the past. You would need to get some serious business loans to do it. The tooling can cost in the tens of thousands and the production runs can costs in the 100s of thousands. I don't remember what the cost of hiring sculptors was though.

It's true. Manufacuring a run of 1000 figures will roughly cost 10,000 pounds (I don't know the official exchange rate at the moment), give or take, depending on accessories, number of parts per figure, and paint apps. To get a sculpt done we're talking some serious funds, too. A good sculpt is not cheap. A cheap sculpt is not good. A decent 5 inch figure can take between 2 to four weeks to sculpt, more if articulation is included. Some people prefer to have articulation done at the manufacturing point as it's cheaper, but that is a double edged sword. Cheaper yes. better? definately not. I'm looking into doing the same thing. The only problem is funding.

I think this is why so many fan projects start out making accessories and then work up to bigger projects with articulation after the previous runs garner enough profit to regain their lost capital.

Do you have a property in mind?
Quantities? If you have a business plan, drop me a line to seriously discuss, as I have the connections in Chiba to produce the product. |

You see it's kind of like China, but in Chiba, things are made even cheaper.

If this is true I would actually like to learn more about this. I have a pretty solid toy idea that I would love to get produced.
