If toy collecting ever had any social acceptability, The 40 Year Old Virgin killed it. Damn that movie to hell.
Oh, and no. Hasbro takes it more seriously because they're making all the money. |

I've always been big into japanese toys from and yes they are usually much better. It's not so much "serious" as the japanese just take allot of pride in what they do and have high standards when it comes to things.
I make surfboards for a living and we have allot of customers in japan, and there standards for what we do are always way higher than most of the other customers they want stuff perfect down to the most minute detail. It's just a philosphy over there, like here we want lots of toys, we sacrifice allot to get massive amounts of characters selection. We want it cheaper. Over there being brought up with more space constraints they rather have 4 or 5 just inanaley awesome super high end figures as opposed to lke 100 cheap figures. But again there is cheapy stuff there as well, like all the little gashapon stuff stuff. Theres definatley just more put into the figures over there, it's why i totally love henkei figures over most of the US versions. Well better quality and more g1 accurate. But I've always been a huge japan nerd, I'm a huge asian cinema buff, and read lots of manga and love all the food from japan, and i especially love there hot japanese chicks.

I was stationed in Japan a few years ago and I dont think its the company taking the toys more seriously but rather the culture. I have never seen more toy and hobby shops in my life. I gotta admit that I'm a bit embarassed with my addiction but over there it is encouraged. Great place!
