I would like to get some others opinions on this. Here is my rant.
I walked into Wal-Mart about 1 month ago looking for various action figures. Walked over to the SW section first. I found the newest wave at the time of Clone Wars. Looking through the pegs I saw one that I wanted. The Commando Droid. Since I saw him in the cartoons I wanted this figure. I started looking at it. Not bad but he only came with 1 weapon. The whole package was almost empty. At that point I looked at the price and it was close to $8. I put the figure back on the shelf and started looking around at the others. Almost all of the same way. A figure and 1 accessory for $8. Now granted there are figures with more but not many. I just could not justify spending the money on it. I also realize that the Legacy Line comes with extra pieces that makes a droid. That is cool but IMO I cannot justify buying them either. As I look at G.I. Joes I find myself justifying that purchase much more that the SW. Most come with many weapons, stands, figure and they are more articulate. As of right now I will no longer be collecting SW figures. At least until they can get either more in the package or lower the prices. So... I wanted to know if anyone else shares these thoughts or feels as I do. Thanks for reading. Dustin

RoC (Sorry to bash but it's true) has turned me once again into a Star Wars collector. I think both Modern Era Joes and Star Wars figures have their charm.

I'm a Star Wars collector first, but in my area, Joe's & Marvel Universe figures cost more than Star Wars figures.

Star Wars for me has been at every point of my life but the figures as of lately ive been rethinking the need to purchase. Star Wars is what got me into toys when I was a kid and then I got G.I. Joes.

I collect both, but I've bought a lot more Joe stuff over the last couple years. I mostly restrict myself to "Expanded Universe" stuff for Star Wars nowadays, unless they happen to make a "definitive" version of a movie character.

Stopped buying Star Wars because I was buying the same figure on a different card, and because of Joe 25th.
$8 for any figure is expensive! Totally in agreement with you! |

For me, all the accessories and stands and extra fluff just go in a plastic bag/bin and I mostly never see it again, so I'm not concerned much about what they come with but just the figure itself. I've yet to miss a SW figure since their initial re-release (aside from non-clone re-paints) and in that time they've gone from bare-bones accessories to tons of extra junk and back to bare-bones, I really can't say that how much kibble the figure comes with sways my purchasing in the least.

Same here. Modern Era Joes and MU are $10.99 (ROC is $9.99 and occasionally they go on a two for one sale). SW CW figures are $7.49 right now, and they sometimes go for $5 during a sale. These prices are from my local TRU. Personally, I love the SW CW figures. I just recently got into them a month ago, and I now have a couple dozen and counting. Building up my clone army |
