If someone thinks I'm a "smart" ass then someone must be a "dumb" ass because I don't think I'm so smart. This is really not a hard thing to understand.

Wow, I was just looking for a simple answer to my question not an ethical debate. Anyway my son wanted to open the figure even with my warning the arm looked bad, but it actually turned out to be ok. Now here is something funny for all of you that were worried about the multi-billion dollar companies of wal-mart and target. I ordered the Rhino awhile back for my son for Christmas when it was supposed to be an on-line exclusive for $55 I took it to my "local" Target (it is actually over an hour away) and they said they wouldn't give me the $15 difference of their sale price because I bought it from their on-line dealer and the in store retailers were different. Kind of amusing.
In the end it was never my intention to rip anybody off or anything that was the furthest thing from my mind. I ordered a figure for my son he wanted to play with the toy, but I didn't want him to open it and it be broken so I thought I would just ask a simple question to see if I could return it and get another quickly to a local retailer. I can see how some of you without knowing my thinking could have taken as I was trying to execute a scheme. With more time and a different situation I would have just contacted BBTS being as they were the one that sold it to me. |

Caveat emptor, eh?
When a defective item is returned to a store, the store then returns it to the manufacturer for credit. The store loses nothing. If the manufacturer shipped a defective item, it is their responsibility. Have you ever called Hasbro customer service and reported a defective item? Do you know what their solution is? To return it to the original place of purchase. I agree that if you are dealing with an online retailer, you incur the risks inherent. I do however believe that the final responsibility for providing the item described on the package falls on the manufacturer. And by the way, you can make your point without being condescending.

The "buy a clue line" is for those individuals who think what flint rocks and strike-hard are doing is in any way ethical or victimless. Your post allowed me to make most of my points without multi-quoting(which I haven't figured out yet). If the store had sold flint rocks the defective figure and he returned, then yes they can return to hasbro for credit on the store's wholesale purchase from hasbro . But he returned a figure bought from a 3rd party online retailer, so the store loses the difference (retail+tax - wholesale price). Also there are a lot of items that stores don't get credit for(it's just zeroed out of inventory and tossed) in which case it becomes a total loss. Lastly, I haven't written hasbro lately, but as a kid during the ARAH era few nicely worded business letters got me a new helmet for ace, a new canopy for my skystriker, and a new slipstream.

Black razor hold up man. I ask a question. That is all I did. I didn't return the figure to anyone. Don't point fingers and call me out without knowing what I did. All I did was ask a question. The other guy bought things on discount and returned them to make a profit. His acts and me just asking a question are not even in the same ballpark. I didn't return the figure at all to anyone and I have bought many items that were defective when taken out of the package as I'm sure we all have and I just ate the cost. I didn't rip anyone off and never intended to so hold off on the grandstanding until you know all the facts.

I have no need to impress you. You blast one poster; because, he got a big ticket, limited edition item replaced by Hasbro. You make fun of me; because, I got accessories and figures replaced by Hasbro. I explained who my post was intended for and why I used your post to do it. There's a reason this is called a discussion board. The heat you feel on the back of your neck isn't from me, it's from your conscience.

Any reason why we're discussing illegal/fraudulent activities such as how to return something for a greater price than what was paid for it?
No offense, everyone...but c'mon. |
